Let's get back to the event. A road down what they are or are not doing for women in sports can be determined in another thread and is a touchy subject at best. 
I know there is a Lot going on with this and the topic of LIV has so many off shoots, but I'll put it this way as we are already on edge with it any posts that take any sort of political angle should be reported and will then be hidden. Continued posts of this nature will mean locking this thread or enabling post approval.

What wouldn’t happen? The saudis offering to include women in the events or something along those lines? Or the lpga members jumping ship?
Danielle Kang posted not that long ago about how making the cut didn’t even let her break even for the event. When one of the best players on the lpga isn’t breaking even for making the cut the offer of multiple millions to play just a few tournaments and not having to worry about making the cut becomes very enticing 
There’s been at least one LET event in Saudi Arabia so female golf isn’t out of the equation for them. They’ve also allowed females to be part of wrestling matches there (albeit not in their normal attire) which is unheard of for that part of the world

I agree BUT... I have to think that LIV is going to make the LPGA product and coverage even worse. 
All LIV would need to do to dismantle LPGA is offer Lexi, Nelly, Lydia, and Minjee a similar outrageous contract. Pull them out of the LPGA to do co-ed team competitions. The Saudi "grow the game" idea fits right in with doing that next year. Also the partnership with Asian tour, pull in more young lady Korean players will hurt LPGA as well.
Pull those players out and LPGA will get ZERO coverage (strength of field clauses in TV coverage). Then all we have left is NCAA coverage... OH WAIT - LIV can start pulling those players for 500k to $1 mil for a 2-3 year contract or an NIL deal then they are gone. 

Except it's the Saudi government creating and selling a product to help their image (i.e. sport washing) not just another company making a product to compete in the free market (cutting cost any way possible to increase profitability). 
I would just like the players to come out and say they are doing it for the money and not try to act like this group is going to create a better golf product or "grow the game". 

As this is such a prominent topic in golf and we want to encourage the conversation about LIV golf from a golfing standpoint we will reopen this thread. 
That said, we all know the backside of this story and as much as it has a place to be discussed it falls too close to the political side which we do not allow in the forum. So we ask that the conversation moving forward focuses on the golf, field, courses and other news related to LIV and avoids the back stories which we all know and are aware of. 
I trust that us as a community can stay to this and we can have solid conversations, debates and discussions moving forward around LIV and the news that follows it. 
We all have our opinions on the "other stuff" just as I have some pretty strong feelings on it, however they are not meant for this forum and really only lead down a path where we have to lock up this thread again. 
This is not a warning to all, but a request from the mod team that we keep the discussion about the golf which will start next week with LIV. Lets just avoid the mess that we know will lead to warnings and other nonsense that will get heated or lead to us having to intervene and enjoy the LIVely debate we can have on this thread. 

Yeah I think so, but know that they don't have to and probably won't make these suspensions public. It will have to come from the players. This is going to end up in court. Allegedly Monahan was in DC a few weeks ago, probably lobbying for some support for updates to anti trust.

Where there could be issues impacting majors will be if LIV does not count towards OWGR points. That would essentially eliminate their members from all majors, except the lifetime people. I wouldn't put it past the R&A, USGA, PGA of Am, and Augusta National to twist the arm of the OWGR to do something like that. OWGR needs these 4 orgs to stay relevant.
My biggest takeaway is for people like Gooch and the college guys and really young talent like Andy Ogletree. Rather than betting on themselves to make a name for themselves on the PGA tour, they are taking guaranteed money that might impact their ability to play on the PGA tour and any future majors for the rest of their career.

Yes I agree, the PGA Tour's problem lies in the bad weeks. At least once or twice a month they play a great interesting course. Its the bad weeks on a bad course where there is opportunity for the PGA Tour to try something new. Mixed events, Team events, PGA Tour U mixed events, etc.

Are we even going to be able to watch? I havent seen anything on tv rights or production/broadcast. Im guessing its going to be on youtube? If so, I hope they keep the comments going live. 
Also, remember this is going to be a team event where teams are drafted and different every week. 
I hear you, but I do tend to agree with them that courses like Southern Hills, Brookline, etc. are much more interesting to watch and more full of drama than TPC Craig Ranch. And looking at the list of courses, it looks like LIV is going to be full of Craig Ranch type courses. If you disagree, can you remember the par 3s at Craig Ranch or par 3s at Whistling Straits...

Evidently the owners signed a contract with LIV without even telling members, much less get their views. Plus "Eleven local mayors signed a letter opposing LIV Golf Invitational Series coming to Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on June 30-July 2." And "Despite pushback from local mayors, a U.S. senator and golf club members — several of whom have resigned from the club..." so there have been member resignations already.
Needless to say, there are ZERO corporate sponsors. Getting members to "volunteer" to work the tournament should be a hoot, and evidently there are job postings online for the event. I am hoping the event is a total flop, even though everyone gets paid.
