Sen
So for those of you that don't know, Maltby used to make a HDI iron that was a head of its trend. Right before all the big OEMs started pushing out driving irons/hybrids. It was not popular after its release and once they sold their first stock they stopped continuing them, but that's when the golf world caught the driving iron bug. They had tons of requests on their page but most of them are sold out and was told won't be making any more. Today their January catalog came to my house and i saw this beauty IMAGE LINK Look at the price for the assembled pak too! So I rushed to their website and ready to order one to try, their site does not have it anywhere. Hopefully it will be updated soon and we can test out this updated club. Maltby makes very quality clubs for the cheap, not paid by them but I have built and used their clubs with high satisfaction. I genuinely hope MGS would do some mostwanted tests with them included. Sen
so this is the old HDI link, only 5iron is available now: https://www.golfworks.com/maltby-ke4-tour-hdi-hybrids/p/ma0238/ I read somewhere on their website by their employee that said the new version(can't find it anymore, it was on the official site) unfortunately is exactly the same as the old one, only change being the metal is now 8620carbon vs the old 1020carbon, also the color is now satin/chrome vs the old DBM. Still great head, can't wait to test it. MattF
edingc
I found that link, too. Because of the way my C300s are loft jacked (4 iron is 21*), I'd probably need the 2 hybrid to fill my 3 iron/driving iron gap at 19*. But definitely looks like it would fill a hole in my bag. There are several courses around me where such a hybrid/driving iron would be a better play off the tee. Sen
Hmmmm, so it was up today in "paks" and I ordered the 2 and the 3. It was not on the "heads" page. I was just about to post the link to the paks to those interested... I cannot find it anymore. I hope the item is actually here and they will start to build mine... beneagles
I got the 5 and put a regular steel shaft in and it’s a beast. Swing weight is D5. I just ordered the new 3 and 4 to complete the set. I’ve always hated feather hybrids. Finally a solution. Ben

I'm certainly interested in it though and liked the one (prototype I suspect) that I saw at Golfworks.

Popeye64
How is the trajectory of the driving iron versus a 5 iron or 5 hybrid?I have the older HDI 3 and it has a more boring trajectory. Traditional hybrids tend to balloon a bit for me. But it's what they are designed for. High flight that comes down soft. I find they play closer to an actual iron but far easier to hit. Plus the footprint is so much smaller. Pleases the eye more. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk bellairemi

I think I will try one in my 4 iron slot as I have lost confidence in the hybrid there - too much left every now and then and I hesitate to pull it now. azstu324
Please keep us posted if you end up getting one. When I purchased my Maltby DBM's, they had stopped making the previous KE4 HDI so I opted for the KE4 Tour Hybrid which has been a really awesome hybrid but I've always been a DI fan. I've since purchased a Dynacraft 18* Driving Iron which has also been a beast of a UDI. Paired with a UST Proforce V2 Hybrid shaft it's been a hell of a club. That said, I've always regretted not being able to get the original Maltby HDI so I've had my eye on these but wanted to get more input before I pulled the trigger. I'd probably just swap out the head and use the same UST shaft. Plus, this head can be bent versus the original which could not. I'm excited to try it as that slot really gets a lot of use at the courses I usually play. azstu324
Popeye64
Yesterday I had epoxy failures on both my driver and 4 wood. This all occurred by the third hole. I used the HDI 3 for the rest of the round. At one point I got it to -4. But in the back the really long holes took a toll and finished at -1 on a 6400 yard course. If they haven't changed their policy, I believe you can do the same with the shafts as well. When I ordered my set, the shaft that I wanted wasn't included in any pack deals.. but because the "cost per" was the same, they gave me the shafts that I wanted at the bundled discount rate. I was then also able to get my preferred grips (PURE Pro's) at a slight up charge of less than 1$ per grip. Golfworks' customer service is pretty top notch when it comes to that stuff. That's extra awesome about being able to bend the club due to the forged body. I'm 6'3" and typically play everything about 2* upright. My Dynacraft has a forged face plate but the body is cast and won't budge so the lie is flatter than I like and an occasional push creeps in from time to time. beneagles and bellairemi 2 Quote PXG 0311 Gen 5 9°/ Fujikura MotoreX F1 6X F6 3 Wood 14* / Kuro Kage Silver 65X F8 6 wood 20* / Fujikura MotoreX F3 6S RADSpeed Hybrid 24* TS1 4-GW / FCM Precision 6.5 Rifle TSW Wedge - 56/12 EAS 1.0 / Grip master 2.0 MAXFLI Tour CG

I sold my fairways and am never looking back. The 2 is 220 pipe straight off the tee. 3 200 4 185 5 170 All dead straight.
