Maltenator
I'm super interested in getting rid of my Garmin Approach G8 and picking up a Shot Scope V2. It has awesome reviews, and I feel my game can improve from it. Can't beat the price of $189, compared to others of $250 or more, and no tagging needed. Also, there needs to be a specific tech talk location in the forums. Just my thought If you have one what are you thoughts, would you recommend, and have you noticed an improvement to your game through the data it provides? I absolutely love them. They are cast, yet feel smoother than any forged iron I've ever hit. I played Mizuno JPX 800 Pro forged irons for 6 years and I always felt Mizuno makes the best feeling forged irons, and these blow them out of the water in the way of feel to me. They are super easy to hit, and have a sweet spot the size of Texas, dang near the entire face. They are well worth the look, if you're interested. PXG does free fittings with no pressure to buy. They sent a guy from 2 hours away to fit me. If you're a veteran, active duty, or first responder they have a really good deeply discounted program as well. I can't say I've learned too terribly much about my game that I didn't already know - my driving sucks, but it is nice having good distances since most of my clubs were new last fall so I am more confident in what I need to try to hit in a given situation. That's what I'm going to use it for is accurate distances. After 6 years I was well versed in my distances with my old clubs. Now I have a whole new bag, I'm hoping to find out faster my averages than trying to figure them out over the course of several rounds. Also, I want to see my data where my misses are so I can begin working on those aspects of my game to help me start lowering my score. I put it on and swung a few practice sessions with it, and didn't even realize it was there. Although, I never wear a watch when I golf either I was afraid it would be a nuisance and surprising it isn't. Can't wait to get out and see what I can do with the new irons, and how it will help me. My driving always sucked until I got that right shaft. Were you fitted for your driver shaft? By the looks of your signature I would assume so. By the looks of your signature I would assume so. Unfortunately, no. I was part of a full bag Bridgestone JGR test last fall and we didn't really have much to choose from in terms of shafts for woods. For the most part, we only had choice of flex. I'm a high ball hitter and the driver head is supposed to help get the ball in the air, so when you add a light shaft, I tend to hit the ball too high and with too much backspin. Of course, none of that prevents me from hitting the ball straight, just my swing. At some point, I want to go see @McGolf - he's a top 100 fitter and is ~3 hours away to get the club sorted out, but I'd like to get my swing sorted out first. I will say the right low launch low spin shaft will fix the high launch and backspin issues it did for me. I could never hit a draw to save my life. This was my first hit with my new driver and shaft. I only swung two or 3 times not even warmed up. After about 15-20 balls my club head speed jumped to 109-110 carry to 285 and total to right around 299-301 all while keeping my backspin around 2200-2250. I was wondering if testers got to keep the equipment or not. Makes me want to get picked. seancgmartin
Great piece of kit. Requires a bit of time editing once you've finished your round, which usually only takes 10 mins or so, but I find that process quite useful thinking back through my round and where I might improve. I find this process more useful than the distances themselves (so may factors affect total distance for each shot eg weather conditions, wind direction etc), but once you've done a dozen or so rounds, the data should be useful. I also find it quite helpful for picking out my fairways/greens hit data and where I might improve there. The putting is always a slight problem for it to pick up properly (for obvious reason) but I think they're working on that, and there is a manual mode for putting if you have a counterweight in your putter and can't put the tag in. The actual kit itself is intuitive, not really any bigger than a Garmin (though significantly uglier! - though I'm guessing that's not a problem for you if you're playing a PXG Mustang - me too!), and the customer service really is the best I've ever come across. You won't be disappointed.
