Ultimate Junior Golfer
I just received a new TS3 driver that I had been fit for with a Tensei AV Blue shaft in stiff flex. However, now when I hit a good shot the ball goes way too high, about 100 feet. I swing my driver around 97-100mph with a launch angle of 16. Could the shaft be too soft? Golfspy_CG2
Peak height of 100 feet is not too high. That's just about ideal. Launch angle is slightly high, but that is more likely the delivery of the club vs the shaft. Also what loft is the driver. A good fitter would be able to tell you for sure. cnosil 1 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number
null
What is the spin rate and landing angle I swing around 112 and I peak height around 120 ft with optimal numbers
Ultimate Junior Golfer
Spinning around 3500, which is way too high for me. Descent angle is around 45 degrees. That will drop launch and spin into a better window cnosil and chisag
Rtracymog
Yeah your spin/launch combination is way too high. If it’s landing at 45 with that much spin, you’re probably losing a yard or two from it backing up on impact. Just an FYI ad 45 degree landing angle is great for a 7 iron. I would start with loft, but you might have a shaft issue as well.Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Quote Cortex w/MGS Motore X F1 7X tipped 1" F5 17 degree hybrid w/Rogue Black 85X C300 Forged 3-5 w/C-Taper 130X FG Tour V6 5-6 w/C-Taper 130X Staff Model Blade 7-PW w/C-Taper 130X RTX4 52, 56, 60 w/S400 Tour Issue ER7
Myaghi
Shafts atually do have less impact on spin as one would think. Clubhead and ball will cause significant changes (in case you play Pro V1x try ProV1 or even AVX). Besides what the others already wrote, you should also check your angle of attack. In case you are hitting down on the ball, your spinloft is far too high (which can be reduced by changing the loft...but with around 100 mph you should hit up on the ball 3-4 degrees [Trackman] anyway).
