Golfspy_CG2
I'ts not often you see winners of three major tournaments all in the same week all from the same club company. But that's what Justin Thoma-WGC Championship, Richy Werenski PGA Tour and Daniel Kang in the LPGA return to play all did this week with Titleist. Read below for the details. From Titleist Tour Notes WGC: Titleist Brand Ambassador Justin Thomas (equip listing below) returned to No. 1 in the world following his win at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational … Thomas fired a final round 5-under 65 en route to a 13-under 267 victory total … He became the first player to claim three titles on the 2019-20 PGA TOUR season (Sentry Tournament of Champions, CJ Cup) and the third-youngest player on the PGA TOUR to reach 13 career victories. >Thomas finished three shots clear of four players, three of whom place their trust in Titleist golf balls without an agreement (Brooks Koepka/Pro V1x, Vokey Design gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron TNP2 Teryllium putter; Daniel Berger/Pro V1; Tom Lewis/Pro V1x). >Thomas worked with Titleist Director of Player Promotions J.J. VanWezenbeeck seeking tighter dispersion in his TS3 (15.0) 3-wood. He transitioned from the Tensei Blue CK 80 to Tensei Blue AV Raw 85 with positive results. What’s in Justin Thomas’ Winning Titleist Bag?: Pro V1x golf ball TS3 (9.5) driver TS3 (15.0) / 915Fd (18.0) fairway metals T100 (4) / 620 MB (5-9) irons Vokey Design SM7 pitching (46.10F), gap (52.12F), SM8 sand (57.14F) and lob (60.04T) wedges Scotty Cameron X5 putter WGC Equipment Counts: Over five times as many players relied upon TITLEIST golf balls at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational than the nearest competitor: Titleist: 55 (71%), Nearest Competitor: 10 (13%); TITLEIST was also the top choice in hybrids (9/36%), utility irons (14/39%), irons (17/22%) and wedges (92/42%). PGA TOUR: Richy Werenski closed out his first career PGA TOUR win in style, carding a dramatic birdie on the final hole to capture the Barracuda Championship by one point over fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Troy Merritt (Pro V1x, TS2 driver, TS3 fairway metal, TS3 hybrid, 718 T-MB/620 CB irons, Vokey Design SM8 pitching, gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron GoLo Knucklehead putter) … Werenski started the final round seven (7) points behind Merritt, the overnight leader, in the only PGA TOUR event that utilizes a modified Stableford scoring system … Werenski rallied over the final three holes with a pitch in eagle worth five (5) points on No. 16 to draw within one, setting up the winning two points on No. 18 for a total of 39 to Merritt’s 38 … Werenski lost in a playoff at this event three years ago … He finished T3 while playing in the final pairing at the 3M Open last week … He gained the final spot in this week’s PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, the first major championship of the year … Merritt secured an invitation to the U.S. Open via the top two finishers not otherwise exempt earning spots at Winged Foot. >Werenski topped a leaderboard on which each of the six players who finished among the Top 5 and ties relied upon Titleist for their success … Following Werenski and Merritt on the first page were Fabian Gomez (Pro V1x, TS3 driver, 718 T-MB/AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Tour Rat 2 putter) and Matthias Schwab (Pro V1x), who shared third place with 37 points, and Scott Stallings (Pro V1x, TS3 driver, TS3/917F2 fairway metals, U500/T100 irons, Vokey Design TVD wedges, Scotty Cameron GSS putter) and Robert Streb (Pro V1x, TS2 driver, TS3 fairway metal, TS3 hybrid, 718 T-MB/620 CB irons, Vokey Design SM8 pitching, gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron GoLo Knucklehead putter), who tied for fifth with 35 points. What’s in Rich Werenski’s Winning Titleist Bag? Pro V1x golf ball TS4 (10.5) driver TS3 (15.0) fairway metal 818H2 (17.0) hybrid T100 (3-5) / 620 MB (6-9) irons Vokey Design SM8 pitching (46), sand (54) and lob (60) wedges Scotty Cameron GSS putter Barracuda Championship Equipment Counts: Titleist led the golf ball count with 123 (79%) in play, over ELEVEN (11) more times the nearest competitor with 11 … Titleist was also the field favorite in drivers (40/26%), hybrids (29/40%), utilities (37/49%), irons (52/33%), wedges (246/56%) and putters (54/35%). LPGA: Danielle Kang closed with a 2-under 70 and held on for a one-shot victory over fellow Pro V1x player Celine Boutier in the LPGA Drive On Championship, the first LPGA Tour event since February … This was a one-time event for the LPGA, although it was contested at Inverness, site of next year’s Solheim Cup … Kang finished with a 7-under par 209 victory total under rapidly changing conditions throughout the weekend … The pair was tied going into the final round when Kang took for the lead for good on the 15th hole … The win was the fourth of Kang’s LPGA Tour career … She has won in each of her last four seasons, starting with the Women’s PGA Championship in 2017 … In addition to the Pro V1x, the winner also relied upon TS3 (13.5, 18.0) fairway metals, 716 CB (4-9) irons, Vokey Design SM7 pitching (46), gap (50), sand (54) and lob (58) wedges, and a Scotty Cameron 009 putter for her success … This event was her first LPGA competition since Jan. 23 in Florida … Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x players (110) accounted for 83 percent of the 132-player field … The LPGA Tour stays in northeast Ohio next week for the Marathon Classic. revkev and xOldBenKenobiX 2 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number
revkev
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the Pro VIx in Revkev’s bag. DarthGator007
I tried to watch as much golf as I could this weekend. No denying that Titleist makes some good balls and clubs.
