Maxfli Honors+ Stand Bag (my thoughts)

So recently I got a new bag as I was upgrading to new clubs and I figured may as well get a new bag too. I came across the Maxfli honors + stand bag as it was marked down significantly to $90 and seemed like a solid deal. I couldn’t find almost any reviews aside from the sites selling them which I feel need to be taken with a grain of salt and are chalk full of fake reviews. Thus I figured I’d forward my thoughts on my stand bag thus far.

So far I’ve only played 27 holes w/ it but have taken to the range on multiple occasions. 9 holes were walking and 18 holes were with a cart.

I went w/ this bag as overall it seemed to be a decent quality w/ plenty of storage space plus the stand legs mechanism seemed much better than other bags I’ve seen in a similar price point. The kickstand portion is fully integrated into the bottom of the bag and not just a flimsy little piece like others that don’t seem to hold up the legs well. Overall the legs feel very sturdy and don’t seem to have the issue of bowing out and causing the bag to fall over (yet…still pretty new).

Overall carrying this bag was perfectly fine. Was comfortable to carry and the straps are fairly decent. One really really nice thing about the straps is that they are super super easy to remove quickly which is super nice if you are using a cart for a round. There are little clips that just pop off quick/easy and are just as easy to pop back on.

Speaking of using this on the golf cart there is another nice feature in that you can run the golf cart straps behind the pockets. There is a channel behind the pockets that the strap would normally cover making it difficult to get into the pockets. I also think it helps the bag sit a little better and be held into place when on the cart.

Storage is plentiful with no problem for organizing and there are hangers for any tools/towels you want to hang on the bag. In addition there is a nice pocket that opens/closes via magnet so if you want you can easily store a phone or keys or whatever you may want quick/easy access to while on the course.

The bag is a 14 way divider which is my first foreway into a 14 way divider bag. I was unsure if I’d like having individual spots for each club but now that I have it I actually really like having a spot for each club. While I do like it…that is the one downfall I feel for this bag. Unless you have a blade style putter (my guess as I have a mallet putter) there really is no good spot to put your putter that makes sense especially if you have a larger mallet putter. I have yet to find a good spot where the putter sits nicely w/o getting caught when pulling out the putter.

So overall I would give this bag an 8/10. The only thing that would prevent me from giving full recommendation to this bag is the lack of a designated spot for the putter. I think if they redesigned the 14 way divider to easily separate the putter and keep it from getting caught on other clubs when you pull it out this would be a 10/10 bag for me.

With the way prices are going in golf, $90 is a steal. Hope the material holds up well

Yes it was a price I really couldn’t pass up. I think it was the 2021 model or something so it was like $94 or something at golf Galaxy. I did have an ogio which had a nice pocket for the putter but I sent that with my old clubs to Florida with my in laws for when we visit. I am overall happy with the bag I just wish the divider was better arranged.

Some advice to go with this since I've been using the Honors+ Hybrid bag for over 2 years now.

1. Buy the warranty. It covers anything for 2 years and costs like $30-40. Trust me...you'll use it.

2. That leads me to the fact that the clips that hold the straps on are plastic. They'll likely break. Mine have twice, and they can't be replaced so they literally give you a new bag if you have the warranty.

3. Stand legs are also easily bent. I don't use them a ton as I don't walk and carry the bag, but mine got bent and no longer open up all the way. The bag still stands albeit a little less stable. Not enough to worry about warranty.

4. Chapstick the zippers. The smaller teeth mean if the zippers gets stuck it will more likely tear/break. Just every 6 months throw a little chapstick near the zipper pull and then run the zipper all the way open and closed to work the wax in as lubricant.

So im looking to get a bag with more storage this year. I have been using the Sunmountain 4.5 Stand for a few years and love it. I dont carry my clubs anymore and never seem to have enough storage. I walk with a Bag Boy Nitron push cart 50% of the time and ride the other. Ive decided to get either the Sunmountain Sync or the C130S stand bag. Both bags have a big pocket where stand bags have the carry “back pad”, while maintaining the bag top orientation of a stand bag, preventing club heads from rubbing on shafts etc. There are virtually no reviews of these bags specifically. Do any of you have any insight or feedback to help me make up my mind?

I don’t know much about either of those bags but I do know Sun mountain makes good bags so probably can’t go wrong with either.

I also have the Maxfli Honors stand bag and the one big downfall is the lack of putter well.  I have the DF2.1 and it has been a struggle to make it work with the bag.  I have tried just about every combination one could think of with club location.

I've been using a Sun Mountain Sync for several years now with my push cart (also Sun Mountain).  The bag has held up well (average 90-100 rounds/year), and has more than enough storage capacity for me.  Granted, I keep a close eye on the number of balls/gloves/tees/etc. I've got onboard.  Good valuables pocket, room for small first aid kit, rain hood, extra wind/rain jacket, pass through for strap if using riding cart, etc.  I got mine in 2016 and, although a bit faded from the sun, all zippers still work perfectly and top is only just beginning to show some wear.  As with everything in life, YMMV, but I'll shop Sun Mountain again when I need/want a new bag.

Good to know. I'll be picking up a new bag at the start of the season, and I have a $100 DSG gift card to use so the Maxfli bags are in the running. A dedicated putter well is definitely one of my "wants" due to the larger grips I prefer being a bit of a pain sometime when taking the putter out.

I had invested in an expensive electric trolly a few years ago. Problem with most carry bags was the stand. They would not sit correctly on my trolley. The Honors bag aside from all the other positive comments mentioned above was this mechanism fit perfectly. This for at least $100 less than Sun Mountain or other brands. My only complaint is the felt lined valuables pocket. It does not open enough to easily get stuff in or out.
