SM Johnson
Years back, played a PowerBilt 317 model persimmon #3wood through high school & college, and even years after as a PGA of America club professional....when it finally disintegrated in early 90's, it has left me on a 30-something year search for that perfect #3 wood / spoon....have had a lot of great 'old persimmon drivers' in my day, and even have made the transition to "steel head" driver era w/o much angst....but I do think the spoon, or #3 wood / metal may be the hardest club to 'find' ....... EnderinAZ
I have a Tour Edge 7 wood I bought off the rack a couple of years ago sitting in my garage. Wonderful club that sits in my garage because it's distance is covered by my 5 hybrid and my 4 hybrid. It is an unnecessary club. T-Bone
I keep a set of MP-33 irons at my mom's house in Charlotte and usually play them a few times a year. Probably should sell them to someone that would be able to use them more often but have always loved that particular version of the MP's. NCDuffer
Ping G400 4H. Picked it up used but didn’t like the shaft. Took it to a club builder and he had me hit a few and asked me, “Do you trust me?” He tells me he will order a shaft, install, and if I don’t like it he’ll put the old one back in. I didn’t ask about what shaft and said OK. A few weeks later I’m hitting it and thinking this is perfect. The shaft, a $20 Swing Science! Love that club. Collar
In my early 20's, when I got competitive and started playing in state qualifiers, I bought a set of Hogan Apex irons with graphite shafts. I still have them but haven't hit them in many years. The shafts would be too stiff for me now at 66. They are definitely my favorite irons from my collection. Rygolf32
My Callaway Steelhead Plus 3 wood. Still in the bag and one of my most reliable clubs...reshafted once, regripped many times over. Roomspimp
Taylormade RBZ Tour Spoon: I still love this club! absolutely the best fairway wood I have ever owned. I have subsequently tried to find something better (Mizuno, Callaway & newer Taylormades) but nothing can match the RBZ for distance. atmikeyp
I'm going to go out of the singular "club" arena and go with a set of irons -- the OG Ping Eye 2 irons. I gamed these, or a version of them, throughout highschool (started in 1992), college, post-college, and then a set of BeCu Eye 2s from ~ 2015-2017. I finally gave them up when I realized that my set was essentially 25 years old. I still have them though, and pull them out for fun from time-to-time. Fitted now with a KBS stiff steel shaft, and the 5i head no longer stays on the shaft, but the rest of the irons are as pure and fun to play with as they ever were. JB2334
I have a lot of favorites over the years, Titleist DTR and DCI irons, and Taylor Made Burner Bubble Driver are probably at the top. But my all-time favorite is still in the bag - Tommy Armour 845 2 iron. It's a hand-me-down from my Dad, so there is tons of sentimental value, but it's also my everything club - fairway finder, rescue club, etc. My sons have always been amazed by it, but neither of them have ever been able to hit it in the air, and they've learned that it hurts when you miss...lol. It will always be in my bag, and the only anticipated change will be grip changes as needed, and eventually, the Tour Stiff shaft will probably be a little too much. Burningbush
For me it’s the Nike vapor flex 440 driver. At the time it was longer for my by miles compared to drivers even 5 years newer. I hit long, lower trajectory bombs seemingly every time with it. The sound and feel of it was absolutely awful. It sounded like you hit a ball with a pvc pipe and felt the same way, but the results were great. Quote Burningbush

John Hoie
Three entries: 1. Mizuno MP33 irons. I still kick myself for selling them instead of just reshafting. 2. A set of 1957 Spalding Top-Flite persimmon woods. Modern woods are clearly better, but can’t reproduce the feel. My brother still has those in his basement. 3. njcoopnj
I went through a lot of club sets while still learning the game. Then when I was making progress, and my handicap was dropping, I was practicing all the time and playing a lot of rounds. I thought it was time to get better clubs. I was very lucky; I found a set of Mizuno MX-23's. They were priced very low and on sale for Labor Day. The reason they were priced so low was someone had ordered them; they came into the store pick them up, hit the clubs in the store and changed their mind. I picked up that Mizuno set for just under $500 3-PW. I played those clubs for quite a few years; I promised myself that when I reached a single digit index, I would think about replacing them. I did reach my goal and upgraded to a set of Mizuno MP-52's. Playing those new clubs I reached my career lowest index of 6.2. Now some 25 plus years later I'm playing Mizuno Hot Metal JPX-919's, but I do occasionally think about those MX-23's.
