GolfSpy Tim
Possibility I'm road tripping across the US to move a buddy. If it happens, I'm figuring I might as well play some golf while I'm at it - so, what suggestions do you guys have? What's worth driving a few hours out of the way for?I've got an open invite to Pine Valley - but sadly that may be too far out of the way............Fire away with the best and the most random. GolfSpy Barbajo
I'm guessing a side trip to Minnesota would be in your best interests. There are 2 brother spies who can show you a good time... And once you get to New England, good lord are there some nice courses to play: Red Tail (Devens, MA), Stow Acres North and South (Stow, MA), Shaker Hills (Harvard, MA) Amherst CC (Amherst, NH), The Shattuck (Jaffrey, NH) are all very good courses. Red Tail and Shaker Hills are top rated in MA - and aren't far from the NH border. And if you go via North Dakota - hit Bully Pulpit. Kenny B
I don't know how you could get on, but you are going right by Sand Hills GC outside North Platte, NE; Coore/Crenshaw design that I would love to play. It's private. Got to know somebody. Jmikecpa
If you plan to play in NH I would go with Hanover CC near Dartmouth. GolfSpy Tim
starting to loosely plan the drive and my stops... I have friends in Idianapolis - so sorta planning around a stop there - which appears to put me stopping the first night approximately in Salt Lake City area - followed by stopping somewhere near Grand Island Nebraska the second night - which begs the question: Anyone around here a member at Sand Hills???? - a bit outta the way, but maybe worth it? (seems like I'd need to add an extra day to the stop to pull that one off, but worth it....)Then onto Indy, then up and out to NY/New Hampshire - and funny enough, I'll be ending in New Hampshire very close to Dartmouth - so maybe I'll end with golf at Hanover!?And... this could all change depending on what I learn over the next few days! alfriday101
I-80 across Nebraska is one of the most boring drives anywhere. It follows the Platte River the length of the state. I highly recommend you break up the drive with a round of golf. Awarii Dunes is just a few miles south of I-80 near Kearney, Ne. Read the review and see if it the type of course that appeals to you. The Harvester is not terribly far from I-80 in Iowa and is the best public course in the state.
