First off, I feel compelled to write this because I have never bought a Callaway club in my life.  Started playing in 1979 and have never bought a single Callaway club.  I have tried many.  My dad gave me a Callaway 5 wood and after reshafting it, it has stayed in my bag for nearly 20 years.  But I have never once found a Callaway club that performed well enough to make it into my bag. I hit Taylormade exclusively from 1989 until 2022.  Tried several, but never gamed anything else.
Fast forward to 2024!  After reading reviews, I went into a local store a couple of days ago to try the new Cobra and look at the new Ping.  The Darkspeed and my Aerojet LS were nearly identical in performance.  The Ping was huge and sounded a little odd.  The sales guy suggested the new Smoke Ai triple diamond.  Okay, I will try it, but I am pretty biased against Callaway.  He put a Mitsubishi Kaili White 60x in it and while setting it up, was telling me how you can hit it anywhere and you will not lose as much ball speed as you normally would for the same strike.  So my first swing I could tell was on the toe, but the sound was nice.  Looked up efficiency was 1.49, ball speed 167 and carry was 281 with a roll out of 304. Launch was a couple of degrees lower than normal.  But after all, it is winter and my swing speed is down and I've only played a few times this fall/winter.  Looked at the location of the strike and it was 6mm toward the toe. Swung the next one lined up toward the heel. Strike was 5mm toward the heel and it was 277/296 and 163 ball speed.  3rd shot, I lined up ON the heel and tried to make certain I hit it on the heel.  Strike was 17mm toward the heel and below center of the face.  Ball speed was 151!  Are you kidding me?  I just missed the center of the face toward the heel by 17mm and ball speed was 151?  The ball flew 22 yards off line.  4th shot was 1.5 efficiency, 167 ball speed but 27 yards offline, it started right and stayed on a dead straight line to the right.  Ahhhhhhhhh...my awesome block that sneaks in occasionally.  My 5th and final shot, I lined up normal, hit 1.50 efficiency and ball speed was 168 and a half yard offline with my baby cut that I love to play. Sold! This driver does what they say it does!  I want it! What do you mean you don't have this combo? Okie dokie....Go home find it on the internet.  GET IT HERE!!!!
Yesterday, it comes in. I put it on the scale and it was dead on D4.5 with this shaft at standard length. Ironically, D4.5 is exactly where I put all of my clubs. So I changed out the grip to my go to Tour Velvet Full Cord.  I measured the outside of the shaft and it was at .632, so I added 4 extra wraps of tape and re-weighed it.  It went down to D2.25, so I put a small strip of lead tape on the back to put it right back where it was when hitting it at the store. Bam, right back at D4.5.
This was all while set up on standard specs.  Today, I am going to the course to dial in my settings and trajectory and get a great comparison against my Cobra.  Congratulations Callaway!  After 40 years, I have finally bought a Callaway club.  I'm not selling my Cobra just yet, but we just may do that after today.

No doubt.  Every year, the clubs hit it further and straighter if you listen to the claims but to me, I just haven't really seen it in the last 2 years.  The Aerojet LS was pretty darn good at fulfilling those claims, but this one, holy cow.  To intentionally mishit it the way I did and then the time I didn't mean to and they are all still in the fairway is pretty awesome.  So they actually backed up the claim.
I did not get out of work until late, so I wasn't able to go hit it last night.  I will probably go to topgolf Saturday since it is going to rain here the next 2 days.

    My two cents.
    1. Lessons can become a crutch. I worked with high level pitchers for a living as a biomechanist and my clients were from lower level amateurs to major league pitchers.  A good instructor will teach the student to stand on their own without having to HEAR what they are doing wrong CONSTANTLY so they can make adjustments when on the field (or on the course).
    2. Lower your expectations of being perfect.  Most pros will tell you they hit 1 or 2 great shots per round and 7 BAD shots per round. At one time I was a plus handicapper, I don't practice that much anymore and don't want to.  But if I practice 2 hours a week, 75% of that is chipping, pitches and putting.  If you can get close to the green, have the confidence to get down in 2 from anywhere.  That is where you score.  So QUIT working on your swing for a while.
    4.  That leads to stop lessons for a while OR change your lessons to strictly short game.  But when I went through this last year, I went to a wide open golf course and just played.  Don't spend much time at all working on your swing, just play.  Learn how to score again.  Track what is going wrong with your game. I work with a guy that has top level D1's and several tour pros and even a top 5 player. Tennessee state PGA teacher of the year several times.  My last two lessons we have worked 15 minutes on the swing, 45 minutes on 50 yards and in.
    5. If you are hitting everything out of bounds, then tee off with a 5 iron.  Hit longer clubs into the green just to get close.
    6. If you are going to keep on working on your swing, work on one thing at a time and remove all of the crap.  Sounds like you are probably getting conflicting info being with 3 instructors and a Youtube channel and more than likely loaded down with "swing thoughts".
Learn how to have fun again.

I think the secret is block out YouTube, forum posting for random swing help. And find one instructor or method. Stick to that for at least a season of hard training. Then judge how the progress is playing golf for score the next season. Two seasons for an instructor or method is a good time to judge if it works or not

No sir, I saw that and wish you the best. But as you can see, many people continue to read and that advice may help others. I spent years covering the physical AND mental side of pitching. When I rehabbed someone after major surgery, the mental part was the hardest on how to get through. And for golf, the hardest part for many is acepting where you are in the game amd being okay with it.
I can go anywhere and play any tee and beak 80 with a bad day and break 70 when playing well and almost never work on my swing. My mental approach is ginormous in my scoring.  Attached is a scorecard of my last round. 2 doubles and still shot under par. I can easily forget a ball out of bounds or a missed putt. It was a course I never saw before with a ton of weird dogleg and blind shots. 3 penalties that day.
