I am a band director and have a few thoughts on music on the course.
One half of me says- let the good times roll with the caveat your music isn’t too loud & fairly clean. Yiu and your friends should have a nice time while being respectful to your surroundings.
Now the inner competitive side of me says shut that crap down! I’m trying to draw a 6 iron around an oak tree in the fairway and I need to concentrate.

While I get 40-50 hours of music playing and listening in a week, I do prefer the sounds of nature while on the course. However, I can attest to this, If the music is relaxing and the right style/tempo, it can possibly help your swing tempo and help you forget about all those pesky swing thoughts clouding your mind on the Tee. Bob Marley and Chris Stapleton have definitely helped me pure a few shots that I may have otherwise psyched myself out for otherwise.
Whatever side of the fence you sit on, I hope you enjoy your round this week.

    Good stuff everyone!
same goes for my collection of golf/baseball hats. Once the “sweat ring” is showing after a couple of rounds, dunk in a warm water dish soap solution for 30-40 second soak then gently brush ring around the cap area and hose rinse out on the deck. Air dry on a flat space or clipped to a hanging rack and you’re all set!
Ive got some 5year old hats with many rounds and wash cycles that look great! Just don’t over soak. Like 5 min or more or your cardboard bill will suffer integrity

Short answer, not including the PW, I use three other wedges every round. I’m a huge Zipcore fan! I use the CBX line of Cleveland’s offerings and I think they make the most sense for any mid to high handicapper. (Or anyone truly relying on cavity back irons)
My Titleist AP3 set has a 44deg PW and a 48 deg GW.  Well four years ago I couldn’t hit the GW consistently cause it’s got a tiny little face. So I bought three of the original CBX wedges in 50, 56, & 60 deg. In the last 2 years I improved enough to develop an odd gap between PW & the 50, so I replaced the 50 & 56 with a 48 & 54 to even out the distances. They have made my short game pretty reliable and a lot less stressful.

Those look great. I walked 9 tonight on my league and left a lot of shots on the table. Wishing I had a sleeve of those instead of the handful of spares I was playin’
    hope you enjoy them!

I too found myself a big fan of the Vice Pro after initially finding one on my course and giving it a spin. When I read the MSG review I was convinced it’s the best performing ball for $35/dozen. It’s become my daily gamer as well.

Following very closely here, interested in hearing your thoughts on the new models and hopefully how they compare to the old model if anyone has played them.

I have two putters. Every time I stop in the super store near me, I walk the putter section and try a handful looking for lightning in a bottle but, a good friend once told me to “Date” my Driver, but “Marry” my putter. Meaning find one and never change it since we hit it most often.  There is some wisdom in that folksie advice, however occasionally my putting stroke gets a little out of calibration and I that’s when I bring out my second putter. My day to day putter is a heavy mallet. My fixer putter is a center shaft mallet that’s pretty light. It makes me really concentrate on the basics. I use it for a round or two and am pretty happy/relieved to go back to my original in a day or two.

Jonesie got a reaction from mpatrickriley in Public courses Around Greenville S.C. that are nice?
    Hi everyone,
I'll be heading down to Greenville, S.C. for a short stay, and I'm looking for nice courses to play within an hour's radius that are open to the public.
I have only been to South Carolina once and I played Cherokee Valley in Travelers Rest.  I really enjoyed the signature par 3 overlooking the Blue Ridge Mtns.
I could use some more suggestions if you have them! Love to see some photos or web links, too!
    Thanks!
