If I can't find a good deal to golf in the morning, I will wait until the afternoon when the prices go down for a round of golf. This is in the summer of course. I also don't have a problem playing golf when it's 95 degrees outside as I take water, and have my backpack cooler with ice water in it to wet a towel down to use to cool off as well. I just put it around my neck or I dip my hands in the cooler. During the "Winter Rates" times I will find a course that I don't want to pay the price of the afternoon times during the summer and play them for cheaper. Some people shun Golfnow because of the fee on there, but if that fee is not going to make it more than what it would be to play there by calling and setting a tee time up at the course, why not use it?

I will go and get that shaft just to start down my rabbit hole research myself. 

So idea time here, as I realized one thing. My swing speed based on the fitter I had said "your swing speed says you need an X-stiff shaft" I've went down that road and had good success with it in the tensei 1k white shaft I have. It's the 65g model, but I've noticed in my other driver shaft that I got from Dallas golf, which is a stiff Kai'li White shaft at 68g I hit it a tad more consistently. My mistake on not getting the X-stiff shaft, and that's not really the point. One of the golf stores has a Ventus 5S which is 58g and is not the velocore, it's just a stock option someone gave them. Do you think it would be worth trying that shaft for this experiment would bring any value to this thread? I'm not sure if they made a 4R version of any of the Ventus stock shafts, or I might be inclined to try and find one and test it.
 
TL;DR should a stock Ventus 5S be considered for this test?

Fellow Packers fan here! And a great question. Hafley seems to like to play some press man at corner, I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to add to the secondary (would love to see Cooper DeJean if he's there). I was impressed with Valentine's play this year and Alexander is an all-pro when he can stay healthy. Would also like to see Stokes fully healthy but who knows at this point. They could also look to add an edge rusher in case Smith doesn't come back for next year, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them go after an OT if one they like is available. Can never have too much depth on the line.

I'm only 11 pages into this thread, but figured I'd get myself down this little rabbit hole.
Just ordered a PXG Gen5 driver 9* with the Motore X F3 5R2 shaft (thank you Hero pricing). Can't wait to get it in and give it a go. I was fit into the 6 S version a couple years ago, so I'm hoping that carries over into the lighter flexier version.
I'm also eyeing the PLB and ProSeries UL. But then again, I'm also eyeing UST 55 Gold, Proforce V2 HL, and the Aldila 45g Orange. But we'll see how the Motore works and I'll go from there. I have a few of the PXG weights coming too in case I need to alter it for swing weight.
Now to get my net put together in the garage and the R10 out of the box and registered. 🙂

I've had this talk with a few of my friends. I brought up JH being a good QB coach and helping them get better. Andrew Luck became a household name pretty much while at Stanford when JH was there. When Jimmy left and took over the 49ers Head coaching job, he started with Alex Smith. Then he brought along Kap and turned him into a good QB, taking away the protesting he did, he started to fail when he wanted to go in for himself and not listen. This was evident by his play against the Bears I believe it was where he had 4 int's in the first half. Fast forward to JJ, yes a 4 star like Luck. he became a household name to an extent. The problem is we all saw how he played without JH as the coach. I think JH will elevate Herbert to be a better QB. That's my opinion at least. I still don't think there are that many teams that will take a QB in the first round. Again, that is also my opinion. As a packer fan, I'm just wondering what defender we are taking in the first round.

I was relieved from duty, and new tradition has it now that three of us go to breakfast the Thursday prior to the drill weekend. So good breakfast will be coming so I can stuff my face. Writing up the unofficial review of the Wilson triad balls and I realized in my haste, I didn’t grab pics on the course. So I will delay posting it until I can get some pics next Friday on the course. 

You're currently tied for 5th, which is pretty great considering you only have Lowry and Harmon going.  Lowry is playing such great golf right now, it's awesome to see.

I am not fully sure who I picked. I just chose. then realized I chose some guys I already chose and said I can't do that and re-chose. Haven't checked, yet today. Hoping i did ok with my selections.

Everything is expensive these days, but there are always deals to be had.  
Yes, in general golf is a more expensive sport but there are plenty of ways to make it affordable.  
 Clubs - FB Marketplace, CPO, Craigslist all sell golf equipment cheap all the time.  I have bought a ton of barely used clubs from these places.
Clothing - Costco, Amazon, etc. all have great options for cheap but quality clothing.
Golf Rounds - Golfnow constantly has deals every single day.  I have played for as little as $15 for 18 holes with cart.  
It all boils down to how bad do you want to play.  

First off, I feel compelled to write this because I have never bought a Callaway club in my life.  Started playing in 1979 and have never bought a single Callaway club.  I have tried many.  My dad gave me a Callaway 5 wood and after reshafting it, it has stayed in my bag for nearly 20 years.  But I have never once found a Callaway club that performed well enough to make it into my bag. I hit Taylormade exclusively from 1989 until 2022.  Tried several, but never gamed anything else.
Fast forward to 2024!  After reading reviews, I went into a local store a couple of days ago to try the new Cobra and look at the new Ping.  The Darkspeed and my Aerojet LS were nearly identical in performance.  The Ping was huge and sounded a little odd.  The sales guy suggested the new Smoke Ai triple diamond.  Okay, I will try it, but I am pretty biased against Callaway.  He put a Mitsubishi Kaili White 60x in it and while setting it up, was telling me how you can hit it anywhere and you will not lose as much ball speed as you normally would for the same strike.  So my first swing I could tell was on the toe, but the sound was nice.  Looked up efficiency was 1.49, ball speed 167 and carry was 281 with a roll out of 304. Launch was a couple of degrees lower than normal.  But after all, it is winter and my swing speed is down and I've only played a few times this fall/winter.  Looked at the location of the strike and it was 6mm toward the toe. Swung the next one lined up toward the heel. Strike was 5mm toward the heel and it was 277/296 and 163 ball speed.  3rd shot, I lined up ON the heel and tried to make certain I hit it on the heel.  Strike was 17mm toward the heel and below center of the face.  Ball speed was 151!  Are you kidding me?  I just missed the center of the face toward the heel by 17mm and ball speed was 151?  The ball flew 22 yards off line.  4th shot was 1.5 efficiency, 167 ball speed but 27 yards offline, it started right and stayed on a dead straight line to the right.  Ahhhhhhhhh...my awesome block that sneaks in occasionally.  My 5th and final shot, I lined up normal, hit 1.50 efficiency and ball speed was 168 and a half yard offline with my baby cut that I love to play. Sold! This driver does what they say it does!  I want it! What do you mean you don't have this combo? Okie dokie....Go home find it on the internet.  GET IT HERE!!!!  
Yesterday, it comes in. I put it on the scale and it was dead on D4.5 with this shaft at standard length. Ironically, D4.5 is exactly where I put all of my clubs. So I changed out the grip to my go to Tour Velvet Full Cord.  I measured the outside of the shaft and it was at .632, so I added 4 extra wraps of tape and re-weighed it.  It went down to D2.25, so I put a small strip of lead tape on the back to put it right back where it was when hitting it at the store. Bam, right back at D4.5. 
This was all while set up on standard specs.  Today, I am going to the course to dial in my settings and trajectory and get a great comparison against my Cobra.  Congratulations Callaway!  After 40 years, I have finally bought a Callaway club.  I'm not selling my Cobra just yet, but we just may do that after today.
