  1. @GolfSpy MPR - Are you starting a 2021 sheet?
  2. First off, let's look at what we set out to do for 2020: Point 1: I didn't caddy for my daughter once this year. By the time the VSGA junior season started up, she was deep into Operation 36 matches, and that was enough competitive golf for her. And in Op36, all the parents can do is watch (getting them ready for high school golf, which is a very good thing). Point 2: I actually got to play a ton of golf with both of my daughters, as my oldest spent most of her second semester home. But I haven't played with my dad at all in 2020. In fact, I haven't seen him since NYE 2019. Point 3: I probably played about 5 or 6 short-set rounds. Always fun. Point 4: The Classic Bag Challenge was a blast. Point 5: I can't say I was perfect with this, but I definitely made an effort to hit more club as long as a good shot wouldn't get me into trouble. For 2021: Play more courses Play more match play Help cook up more forum tournaments Get all three generations of the family on the course together
  3. Looking at what you've done here, you are a great candidate for DECADE or Lowest Score Wins. I'd strongly recommend investigating them.
  4. I don't know if they do it anymore, but Stitch sometimes clears out old stock on Amazon. I've picked up quite a few leather Stitch headcovers that way for <$50/each. +1 for Sunfish as well.
  5. Hang in there buddy. I hope to see you again at the Pure Silk, and also when we're swinging our own clubs.
  6. @revkev - That's great to hear that they're holding up so well for you. The same is true for me. The Bermuda in VA has been dormant for about six weeks now. If we get a dry spell of a week or so, our courses get wonderfully firm and fast, and the D7s perform nicely. But those dry spells are rare, and when the temps dip below 50, courses don't dry out and stay wet, sloppy and cold for several days. And this is where the D7s really shine. As you can see from my last several rounds, these clubs are mudders*. I've found that the D7 gap wedge works nicely on those firm-and-fast days, and a specialty wedge is more useful when it's messy. So it has its purpose; it just doesn't see much action right now. *All rounds played lift/clean/place, due to the amount of "organic matter" the balls were picking up.
  7. Thanks, I definitely thought about that, but with my job and the fact that when I'm off and there's daylight, I'm trying to play golf, I tend to do my home improvement stuff late at night. I didn't want to rent a tool for a day just to use it for 15 minutes. For the record, the hand saw worked fine; I just touched it up with a little fine-grit sandpaper afterward to smooth it out.
  8. I'll be 80. Hopefully shooting my age by then!
  9. Yeah, we're big on Google Docs as well. I was thinking about writing some code to do this, but with the slicers and stuff in Google Docs, it makes it so easy to filter the sheet.
  10. Looks like lots of us are looking at new wedges (including me), and there's so much to choose from. It'd be nice if we could see all wedge specs in one place to compare, so I started keying data into a spreadsheet. Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kXOGta3ZdDKl0BJxgM62f8x6zXAMRkeigpGQk3bqP8c/edit#gid=512817981 If you want to help enter data, please do. My hope is that I can keep this open for editing; if it gets completely hosed up I'll just revert to the last un-hosed version.
  11. Said it before; I'll say it again - I really enjoyed the TS2 demo 7i that @Popeye64 built for me. If I hadn't been picked for the D7 Forged testing, there's a good chance I'd be playing these clubs.
  12. We'll be playing those i59's in the 2050 Classic Bag Challenge
  13. I'd be totally down for a cavity back division. Gives me an excuse to go out and get those original TA 845s I've always wanted.
  14. I'm in, and I'm also a big fan of last year's best-ball format. No nasty-grams from the commish for me last year
  15. We play Stableford on my buddies trip in a similar way - gross points minus your quota (point). We start the trip with quotas based on handicap/85% of average score, and we adjust every round. If you beat your quota, we adjust as follows: +1 - Raise quota by 1 +2/+3 - Raise quota by 2 +4/+5 - Raise quota by 3 +6 - Raise quota by 4 +7 - Raise quota by 5 and so on. So if you have a really hot day, you're going to get killed on your quota for the next day. If you miss your quota, we adjust as follows: -1 - Lower quota by 1 -2/-3 - Lower quota by 2 -4/-5 - Lower quota by 3 -6/-7 - Lower quota by 4 and so on. So your quota will not go drop as quickly as it rises. But after four rounds, everyone should have had at least one quota that would let them finish in the money. If you do this for a long period of time, it should give everyone a shot.
  16. I'm hoping this isn't "goodbye" as much as it's "see you around." All of the mods do a phenomenal job, but special thanks to @StrokerAce. And @STUDque - the CCC would not be what it is without you. Kudos to you both!
  17. Another vote for mittens. I don't have the pushcart mittens; I have ones that look like boxing gloves. It'll be interesting to see how I do with the remote for the motorized pushcart. I can't speak to latex gloves under raingloves, but we were wearing latex gloves while coaching at the First Tee this summer. Your hands will sweat like crazy, and it was impossible to grip a club. I had to quit using the latex gloves and just use lots of hand sanitizer.
  18. Got in a quick nine the other day, and some nice elves went out and decorated the flagsticks for us. That was a second shot on a par 4 from 90 yards out. Would have been really nice. I played great and shot 1 under (easy course, think of it as 1 over on a reasonably tough course). Best part? My putter was sitting on the putting mat in my office, so I had to put with a 4 iron. I actually putted OK and made a 30 footer for birdie. A Christmas miracle!
  19. @sirchunksalot - Thank you for getting this thing started. I was happy to help out in some small way. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and a full field of contestants. @deejaid - It's only fitting that our resident persimmon maven would take the title. But I'll be gunning for it again next year. Thanks to everyone else who turned in a round and showed us that there's an interest on this forum in an event like this. Can't wait 'till next year!
  20. I get that the sponsor gets to give sponsor's exemptions to whomever they want for whatever reason they want, but it's not a great look for the Tour Championship to invite two players that have missed more cuts than they made this season. The Tour Championship should be an elite field, right?
  21. Not watching it today, too busy working. The sponsor exemption decisions are ridiculous.
  22. There are several spies in the Richmond, VA area. How about a meetup midway? Spring Creek would be a good spot.
