  1. I think the price tag of the ProV1 is what has affected the perception of the brand. When I first started following golf Titleist clubs were a bit more expensive than the other, but now all the big boys are just about even in price.

With the preaching of getting properly fit and availability of fitting carts now I think the TS woods will do well. Titleist admitted that while the driver performed when paired with the right shaft. People want to pick something up, hit it and take it home right now!! But again with improved performance from a fitting they might be willing to wait that week for their shaft to come in now.

As for irons I gamed both the AP1/AP2 and while they aren't heads and shoulders above the rest of the field in performance (tried a number of other brands on the launch monitor) they've definitely got game.

  2. So this isn't a problem its more of a question. Why do we not make idiots, people, take mandatory classes on driving in snow north of the Mason dixon line?

I've been fortunate enough to be out of town the past few years for the first snow fall and by the time I get home people have re-learned how to winter drive and it's much less stressful

  3. I'll just say this, we will always have different opinions on politics and religion. This is just a fact of life. X will have different views than Y. And just because X has different views than Y, doesn't mean that they can't be friends and at the very least, they can be civil toward one another, and not tear each other down. We are on a GOLF forum, not a political or religious forum, therefore any and all political and religious or generally inflammatory  comments should be off limits.
When I get a few minutes I will usually spend it here. I've lost "friends" who couldn't have a civil conversation about such topics so I've just began to avoid other social media. When I do log on to Facebook or Twitter I usually won't stay more than 5-10 minutes

  4. During the winter I like playing hockey and attempting to kill myself on my snowboard on the hill/terrain park. Used to bowl, but not around enough to join a league. I will sub for some of my friends in matchplay a couple times a year and usually win 3/4 matches that night.

During the summer I like to fish, golf and camp.

Would like to get back into woodworking when I have a house with a garage. Helped pass the winter when I lived with my parents

  5. Spent two days replacing the clutch in my car (getting the transmission off is a rant in itself) to fix a sound I was sure was a broken clutch (and it was absolutely frigged up, shavings everywhere and some loose parts). Put it all back together, fired it up and the sound is still there 🤬 in the next couple weeks gonna drop the tranny again and take it apart to replace the bearing(s) making the noise.

  6. My swing is just about all self taught and I'm told fairly often I have a smooth flowing swing. Only had my swing recorded once and when I watched I thought it was mediocre at best. Pretty flat and (imo) a very early release. As for launch monitors I only really use them when I'm trying new equipment.

    Looks: C+

Effectiveness: B (regular play could probably drop to single digit HDCP from 15-17)

  7. Wow what a day! My wife and several ladies left town to play in a golf tournament at guess where? Columbus, Ga. I'm concerned about their travel back Thursday as they play the tournament Tuesday/Wednesday. Maybe they can head back Wednesday evening if all goes well.

Ok so now for my predicament. 1f62b.png Some of you know as I have mentioned I'm nursing a couple of bulging discs and pinched nerve in my lower back. I figured it was mostly from old age as we all start having joint etc. issues. I'm due for a shot in my back October 29th to relieve the discomfort. Well today I had a few things take place that jacked up the pain to a round 11ish on a scale of 1 - 10. 1f61f.png

It's ok to laugh at the 2nd thing that happened as it truly would have made America's Funniest videos show.

!. It's about to pour down rain so I call my dog in for the day and noticed blood spots on the floor. At first I thought it was me because I saw no evidence of injury on my dog so I run into the bathroom and check out the back of my arms etc. The blood spots on the floor led to a trail out to the back porch. Now I noticed blood on her hair next to her neck and side of her leg. Now I'm freaking out because I can find out where it's coming from! I checked her neck, back of her head, side of her leg and everywhere else I could think of, except her ear. Apparently she either nicked her ear on a rose bush coming our of the garden or did it coming through the doggy door on the screen porch. Anyways that little wound on her neck was bleeding like a leaky faucet. I applied pressure with a couple of paper towels and it finally stopped bleeding. In the process I had to bend over straining my lower back to keep the pressure on her ear. The pull on my back was telling me to back off or else.

    2. Ok you can laugh after the next thing that happened. I was sitting on the back porch with Roxie making sure her ear had stopped bleeding and here runs in my cat with a chipmunk in his mouth! I'm hollering at Roxie to stay still so her bleeding would stop, hollering at Buster to drop the dayuuuummmmm chipmonk. He dropped it and I rushed Buster in the back door so I could herd the chipmunk outside.

    3. I finally got this accomplished so I head in to mop up the blood droppings from Roxie's ear. The blood had dried hard on the floor and I was pushing down on the handle when I felt my back catch. It locked up so bad I could hardly make it to a chair to sit down. Time will tell however I may have went from bulging to herniating either one or both of those discs.

    4. Ice pack is now on my back with a cane I had from my knee surgery days close by. I think my golf game for tomorrow is a wash and gawd forbid my cat from hauling in another chipmunk!!!

I don't drink alcohol these days as I drank enough in my younger life, to be sufficient enough for most small towns. If I was a drinking man, I would be sitting here slugging down something real hard.... lol So my dog with a sore ear and myself with a sore back and no one home to nurse us.... 1f625.png

Update for Tuesday morning:   I was suppose to play golf with the old coots today however that's not happening now are in the foreseeable future!   Back pain sucks!!

Wowzers yup that's a good one for this thread, hope you're back on the course soon OG! I had my back send me lay me.up on the couch for a few days a couple months ago. Chiro/Physio were amazing

  8. Happens every year but it's a double edged sword. . You can't keep choosing the same testers because people will stop signing up on the forum....so you have to choose some newer members and hope they stick around and contribute..but that's a big risk and can end up alienating current and active members....I don't know how the admins process the hundreds of applications, there has to be some sort of automation and algorithm, but I don't envy them

One of them stated they try to get a few vets as well as some newer guys in an effort to appease the masses

  9. It would be interesting to see what percentage of these newbies stick around. Personally I wasn't aware of testing opportunities when I first joined. I did it  because it appeared to be a friendly and accepting forum (read you didn't have to be a scratch golfer to participate).

Same for me. I stumbled upon a twitter link to an article Tony wrote and fell head first down the rabbit hole into this wonderful forum. Don't believe there was any testing for the first few months I was around as it was Nov-Dec time frame

  10. Used to play quite a bit, but don't play frequently enough to justify new games every year anymore. Heck I still have some in packaging and I've had my xbox for almost three years now. But currently flipping between NHL and Madden 16, Forza 6, and COD: BO3 when I find time. With winter around the corner I will likely be dusting off the controllers and getting back into it a bit more.

  11. After a few tries I'm getting the hang of it - at least on my desktop so all is good here (don't want to go through MGS withdrawals). Mt ipad version won't take my new password yet - but I'll try that later.

It's curious to see under the avatars that the 'likes' are in bold but the # of posts are not? Quality vs quantity??
I got kicked out a few days ago and after trying a few separate times I deleted the app then reinstalled it. Works fine now!

  12. It's Christmas shows on the Hallmark channel with my wife which start shortly. She knows better than to watch them with me (at least until just before Christmas). It's not that I'm a grinch it just that I think we should relish life in the current season.

Our dvr/cable box has been down for two months (we don't watch much tv) and it wasn't until yesterday when she saw the Hallmark schedule that it suddenly became a priority to get rectified

  13. First car advice would be a Subaru. I worked as a Service Manager at a dealership before doing what I do now.

You get all wheel drive, great gas mileage, and a super reliable car.

I drive one now, 220,000 miles on it and if it weren't for the rust (from previous owner not taking care of it) I'd probably keep it forever.

My mom has owned one for 6 years and has about 180,000 on hers.

I have driven one with 340,000 miles. If you follow the maintenance recommendations they will run forever, and if you don't live in the salt belt... the body will last forever too.

Do you have any body shops around you that do ziebart undercoating? I know a few people that have had it done and not a spec of rust. Looking to get it done on my truck before the snow flies

  14. Personally I keep a credit card for the travel perks I get with the one in particular, but I never understood how people could rack up so much debt. You don't spend more than you make. It's isn't rocket appliances.

Just attended a wedding of good friends last month and most of it was financed because of course it had to be at the newest golf course in the city. Now they're asking parents and grandparents (some of them have already thrown some cash their way) to help them out and they'll "pay them back as soon as they can"

  15. This time of year I would be researching golf resorts for a winter vacation out southwest. This year I've been researching health and fitness resorts that offer seminars-one on one-dedicated diet programs.Never knew they existed and am really tempted giving one a try.Its almost like I completely eliminated golf from all my thought processes now

Just like some get away to focus on golf for a week, you get away to focus on you for a week. Nothing wrong with that and I'm sure everyone here is cheering you on Big Money!
