  1. That's awesome, Rob! Congrats on both accomplishments!

    US OPEN

It'll be interesting to see how he does. I read recently that he and Claude Harmon have parted ways.
  3. Pretty sure naproxen is generic Aleve. Maybe Aleve is higher dose, though?
  4. When I was unemployed a couple years ago, I played Glen Eagles every Monday evening with a group of guys. I like that course. I may have to hit you up some Sunday.
  5. I saw that this morning and read with particular interest since I am testing a Stroke Lab putter. Like @cksurfdude, I would think if the shaft were to provide a benefit, it would be more obvious on longer putts.
  6. I can't imagine the thoughts going through the heads of these men as their transports started to cross the channel, either in the air or on the sea. Regardless of their thoughts or fears, the bravery displayed was astounding to me. I have become quite a WW2 reader and have a profound respect for these men, regardless of nationality. Visiting the Battle of the Bulge Memorial last year was awe inspiring.
  7. I should have mentioned I'm a bit of a Puma fan, anyway. I've now had 2 pairs of golf shoes, 2 pairs of tennis shoes, and a pair of steel-toed boots I need for work a few times a year, all purchased within the last few years. Their customer service is also excellent as I had an issue with a pair of tennis shoes I bought a few months ago and they took great care of me.
  8. When I bought shoes last fall, I narrowed down to the Adidas and Puma Titantour Ignite disc. Like you, I thought both were really comfortable and felt very stable. I also have fairly narrow feet and liked the narrower Pumas. Ultimately it came down to price as Global Golf had a sale on the Pumas. Not the same pair you're looking at, though.
  9. I know.... Cardinal sin. The last couple weeks have been very, very bad for any free time. The problem is, now that I know the feel I am looking for, it is hard for me to NOT do it, my timing was just off on occasion. I did hit the best 5 iron I've hit in years on a long par 3 - dead straight, right at the flag but flew the green. ShotScope says I hit it 200 yards, which is 17 yards longer than my ShotScope playing average.
  10. I think a lot of what Kenny is getting at is expectations. If you can adjust your expectations you may find the round more enjoyable. A good friend and I are both about the same level - bogey golfers, so we try to adjust our expectations to +1 on every hole so a bogey or better is a good thing. He is better at it than I am, though, and he frequently reminds me bogey is a good score for us. That doesn't stop a 3-putt bogey from chapping my hide, though.
  11. After tonight, I was half tempted to sell all my golf crap and give it up. Started with 3 pars, then things went sideways - in some cases, literally. +12 in the final 6 holes. I can totally relate to the round @edingc posted about above. Actually, it wasn't that bad. I was trying to implement a slight swing change that I have not had time to practice at the range due to prepping for or daughter's grad party for the last couple weeks. There were some discouraging things, but also a few encouraging things. The worst part was tonight my opponent was one of my best friends. We were tied on the 9th tee. He birdied, I triple-bogied.
  12. I think most of the stats on the app are about useless. All the good stuff seems to be on the website. I'm not really sure what more I want out of them, but still feel there is something missing in terms of presentation.
  13. Congrats! My youngest daughter graduated last week and we had her grad party this past weekend. Time to breath and relax before we drop her off at college. I told my wife we'll probably enjoy the quiet around the house for a little bit, then it'll be too quiet.
  14. I don't think I've learned anything terribly surprising, but I tend to think I have a pretty good grasp on my game (it's easy to know what to work on when every drive is in trees). I know many people have learned that they are short on approach shots a lot. I have been pleasantly surprised to mostly be picking the right club. I do have a bunch short, but I'm willing to bet they are all bad contact, which I supposed is part of it, but I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect bad contact and club up accordingly. Then when you do hit it solid, you fly the green. On our league course, there are quite a few holes that long is sooo much worse than short. Since I have only had the Bridgestone irons for about 5 months of play, I do very much appreciate the distances and now that I have a decent number of rounds, the P. Avg's are very useful to me (as are the Longest so I have an idea what will happen if I nut the ball). I also really like the extra tags so I can play different clubs (my 3W, for example). The extra tags make comparison much easier. Like you, I wish there were some flexibility in the data presentation. From what I have seen, Arrcos seems a bit better in terms of presentation. I also liked the blog post last week that had the distance of misses left and right. I see that nowhere in my dashboard nor do I see where it might be available for external analysis.
  15. Here I sit catching up on nonsense I've missed over the last few days and you post this?!?! How dare you post actual golf-related stuff in this thread....?
  16. Gotta stick with who got me here... #teamNunfa0
  17. As a member of #teamNunfa0, I find it disconcerting that you are starting with the excuses when the challenge hasn't officially started... You must be better than that!
  18. Just for a change of venue and Fox Den did not charge us much more than the Coon - it works out to $4 per round. I really like it. The sixth hole plays really long now, but I'm glad they got rid of the hokey iron off the tee, 3w up the hill par 5.
  19. I have been negligent in adding to this thread, but my Stroke Lab putter arrived yesterday. Here are some teaser pics - there will be better ones when the review thread goes live.... I considering putting a strength of mine. For the past 2 years combined, I am averaging 1.9 putts per hole and this year I am at 1.6 putts per hole after around 100 holes played. A large part of this is my chipping has been better, but I am also making quite a few more putts in the 10 - 20 foot range than I have in a long time (forever?). Old Putter: Ping Scottsdale TR Senita * Image from Mygolfspy New Putter: Odyssey Stroke Lab Marxman I see some similarity in the visuals of both putters and I assume that's part of the reason it worked best for me in my putter fitting. Let's get the show on the road.... Random thought: when I look at the weights in the bottom of these putters, I think of this....
  20. #1 at Fox Den - our league moved there this year instead of the Coon.
  21. Not "my" course, but I play it a fair amount. I don't think I've ever scored better than an 8 on this hole. Par 5, 558 from the tips, for me it is usually around 500-520. Tee shot is over a huge ravine and I am usually aiming/hoping to hit the fat area past the trees on the right. It's about 230 to hit that spot. Long hitters probably wouldn't take driver unless they were playing the back tees. It's an visually intimidating tee shot for me. Once the fairway ends, it is a steep downhill to the creek and then back up to the second shot landing area which is narrow and slopes to the right, towards the creek. If you don't get to the fat part of the landing area, trying to figure out how to recover is a pain and likely has you aiming towards the creek. It seems like this hole plays pretty similar to the one Rob posted.
  22. After pulling tee shot into trees my ball kicked left and came to rest in a penalty area close to an old barn. Dropped under a tree and backswing was going to "tick" leaves and follow through was definitely into the branches. Normally this freaks me out and I don't make good contact. Hung with it this time and hit a nice 8 iron that landed about two feet from the cup, backed up, and almost went in. Shotscope says 1.3 feet, but it was more like 3 inches. (Edited final putts is a little dicey in Shotscope - the zoom is limited and that was as close as I could get it, especially on my phone.)
  23. @RickyBobby_PR, I think I finally understand the feeling for not having the "flying elbow ". While swinging my orange whip before our league tonight I felt it. I get it. Now I need to get to a range quickly. I feel like the timing is better for everything else but need to practice the move a lot. May be coincidence, but I also have no pressure in my lower back. Normally I do have some mild pain/tightness after a round. Thanks again for the tip.
