  1. I shy away from saying too much to him since I can barely play myself. But that’s something that his coach in PGA Jr had talked with him about so I’m ok giving him some gentle reminders when needed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If you want to not worry about a lot of people on the course so you guys can relax and have fun, this is the place. $15 to walk 9 or $25 to walk 18. That said, the par 3 course at Swansea CC just a few mins away from this course is $14 to walk 9 and is far better maintained. It's also busier, so there's that to consider.
  3. Yep. Ball Plants 2 & 3 are ramping up as much as they can however they aren't running with the same amount of staff as they normally would in order to help promote physical distancing. They spent a lot of time trying to fill what they missed from March - May/June and are playing catch-up still at this point.
  4. I walked 18 with my son yesterday at Windmill Hill in RI, it's a 9 hole executive course with the longest hole at 218. It was more of a teaching round, since there was no one behind us I let him play multiple balls just to practice and work on things. He gets very handsy on a lot of shots so we worked on that, especially with chipping and pitching. If you see the pic I posted in the Shot of the Day thread, I think my tips helped him a little bit He bombs it at the range but when we get on the course and he has to try and hit a target, he gets very tentative and slows down his downswing a lot so we worked on that too. Bottom line - when we walked off the course he said "that was a lot of fun, thanks Dad!" and that's what it's all about.
  5. My SOTD was an 8i from 138 on this par 3. Tap in birdie. My son’s SOTD was this pitch from behind those trees right to here. He started walking up with his bag, saw where he landed and immediately yelled “you better take a picture of that!!”
  6. 5' 11" and I use a 34" putter. I've tried 33"s but felt like I was a little too hunched over. All 3 putters in my rotation are 34" and I feel like I can move between them when one starts misbehaving with little to no readjustment period.
  7. re: tee times - a number of the courses in my area are still going with 10-12 minutes between groups. The last two rounds of 18 that I played at one of the hillier, longer courses around me came in at just at or under 4 hours both times. I walked 9 with my son at another course on a Saturday in 1:45. So the slightly longer gaps between groups has really been working from what I've seen. Will it be something courses keep going forward? I kind of doubt it, but it would be nice.
  8. I like having a set PW but that's due to my own game; I like the PW for full swings, something I can't do with blade-style wedges. You may not have this issue, of course.
  9. Tony's article on the recent Adams tweets and what they could mean is up on the MGS site: https://mygolfspy.com/adams-golf-about-to-make-a-comeback/
  10. Calling around now to see if I can find someone who can replace the outer pane at a lower cost than the deductible. Both places that were recommended won't be able to get out here until early next week to measure and quote, so we shall see!

Happy to see the Bruins head into the second round with a strong showing, especially after their play in games were such a letdown. They turned on the gas when it mattered.
  12. That's the first thing I did. Didn't find anything near the door or around it. Granted, with the concrete patio right there it could have hit and then bounced off into the grass after hitting the door. The neighborhood behind us was built on an old par 3 course and there's a LOT of tree and brush cover, plus a decent amount of distance between us and them. Would've been one heck of a lucky errant shot if it made it all the way to us if it was a BB or pellet. But not discounting that either.
  13. No idea. My wife left the house for 10 mins with my son to drop him off at band camp, when she came home the outside pane was shattered. I’m going to call our insurance company tomorrow on the offhand chance that our homeowners policy may help out. A friend who’s an architect gave us the names of a few people to call so we’ll see what can be done. I don’t even want to think of the cost of we have to replace the entire slider. 14. This is not what I wanted to come home to today...
  15. Hit a small bucket at lunch today. Felt good to go out and hit a few, mostly wedges and short irons. Trying to "squish the bug" when I start the downswing, as I could feel myself falling backwards on a few shots last week on the course. I was a little distracted watching a guy hit balls a few bays down. He'd make a full backswing, then on the downswing his body would just abruptly stop when he got back to his setup position, and his arms would slingshot the rest of the way through. He wasn't killing the ball but everything was dead straight.
  16. From what I remember, Michael Vrska was a higher up in product development at Adams and then he moved over to Wilson right around when they introduced the C200s with the Power Holes. He was there for a bit then went over to Callaway.
  17. Kudos to everyone on their reviews so far, especially on the bags. That's one thing I really enjoy about the user reviews here - testers aren't afraid to call out concerns and point out why they wouldn't use a piece of gear, or things they think could be better. Great job to the CCC4 competitors!
  18. I suppose you could view them as value priced, the Blue irons in steel had a list price of $700 at launch. Adams has always been a great value on the secondary market and their tech has held up well. I could definitely see TM rebadging some Adams irons (like Callaway has done) and selling them as intro SGI clubs for the weekend golfer market. That would be a good move IMHO for people who would recognize the Adams name. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I moved back to graphite last year after tennis elbow and it’s stayed away and I’ve noticed no issues at all with the shaft performance, and I’m in older shafts at that. Yes I’d prefer steel for the lower costs but after dealing with tennis elbow and all the garbage that comes with it, I’m fine staying in graphites. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Tony tweeted about them the other day as well. It'd be nice to see a few new lines of Adams gear. I think the Blue/Red releases towards the end of their brand's life were overlooked and underrated.
  21. Going classic with one of the best American rock bands in their prime.
  22. Needing high launch? That’s me all right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The writeup on the new Big Bertha B21 irons is up on the MGS site: https://mygolfspy.com/callaway-big-bertha-b-21-irons-and-hybrids/ These are probably the clubs in the line I'm most interested in. I had hit the older Big Bertha hollow irons and I was not a fan. I'm OK with big chunky irons but those things were HUGE. And not all that great to hit, IMHO. Looks on the new release seem to harken back to some of the older mid 2000's BB irons (maybe 2008-ish), which I like. I was wondering if Cally was going to lean more towards the hybrid-style irons in whatever SGI line they came out with for 2021 but I am digging the looks of these.
  24. Good point. I was thinking of the original re-introduction of the BB driver with the sliding weight along with the giant headed irons they had for a few years. Completely spaced out on the BB Alpha and DBD. I stand corrected.
  25. I'm the opposite. I love being able to pull up a course's website on my phone to book and pay within a matter of minutes. Extremely convenient.
