  1. Maybe it's just me, but when I think short and precise (frequently cited as the winning recipe for this event), JB Holmes does not immediately come to mind . https://www.theopen.com/ My #1 and #2 looking strong... literally running away from the field.
  2. After playing with @Thin2win(Chris) this past weekend, and chatting about various balls, I'm more inclined to pay a bit more attention to which balls I play. I haven't purchased balls for years - simply found too many at the courses I've played, and many are quality balls. Importantly, I now know not to throw those Snell MTB-X back into the lake or weeds .
  3. Don't feel bad. Until the spreadsheet just came out, I forgot who I had picked except El Tigre for the win.
  4. John Daly and Jason Dufner are fully aware of this .
  5. It took a few range sessions, but I'm hitting the G400 3w well now. Definitely a different feel than the Callaway WB sole and face I'd been playing for many years. It does well out of minor rough - which was a concern I had.
  6. +1. We had one in our "think tank/war room" at work and it was a astro-turf like product that rolled pretty true but like a billiard table.
  7. The weather sure looks better than the coverage last night of El Tigre practicing in driving rain... yuck! The forecast for rain over the next 4 days looks to have diminished, but it will be a bit windy.
  8. Yea, no kidding. A game that's gone from the penthouse to the outhouse faster than any I can recall. TGC was just showing his 2019 season stats... really hard to believe he's fallen that far. I sure hope the new irons get some mojo back for him. For a brief time it looked like it was going to the the Speith vs. Thomas tour. That was short lived.
  9. The floating green is cool... umm and a little intimidating.
  10. At this past weekends NW Spy Meet-up, @Thin2wingave me a sleeve of the MTB-X balls to try (thanks again Chris!). During our day 3 Sunday round, we talked a bit about golf balls and, by the end of the round, I learned alot from him about these and a handful of other balls. If I got things right, the MTB-X are a very close equivalent to the Pro-V1x - which are among my few I like to play. As a general rule, I really don't pay too much attention to which ball I play; though I do try and use the mid to higher end balls. I think that mostly stems from the fact that my game/level of play isn't at a point that I would consider it to have any appreciable impact. Does anyone know of a really good source that shows a comparative list of various brand/type balls and how they compare in controlled (i.e. robot) tests?
  11. To each their own as they say, but if I ever get to the point I'm floating golf balls in a salt bath, my wife will most surely take my clubs away .
  12. I'm fairly certain I know who you are referring to and that is exactly my impression as well. I suspect he suffers from NPD. I was just researching some golf equipment info when I ran across a link to MGS... never to log into that golf forum again.
  13. I wonder what the age groups are for these two senior categories?
  14. Yea, that one dosen't look like any fun.
  15. That looks like a golf graveyard .
  16. Sunday's round at MeadowWood was really fun - what a great course! Chris is a really fun guy to play golf with - unfortunate we live so far apart. I did my best to keep up with him, but to no avail. He had those PING irons dialed in very well. On the blind, uphill #17 par 3, he hit a gorgeous shot that, upon getting to the green, was only 8 inches from the hole...oh sooo close! We've all suffered those days Rob. I looked at the scorecard and I think the culprit may have been that ice cold FireBall following the first birdie . Thanks to you both for sharing the pictures! Be well and hit them straight and long
  17. It's been a long time since I played 3 consecutive days of 18 holes, but I did just that this past weekend at the NW Spy Roundup. All courses were new to me and a bit more challenging than most I play. The results: Hangman Valley, rating 69.9, slope 131, (85) 39/46 Kalispel GC, rating 70.5, slope 126, (92) 47/45, Meadowood, rating 70.6, slope 123, (83) 41/42 Ball status; 1 lost ball each round, 8 found, +5 Club status; no casualties... Glide 2.0 might stay in the bag. While hitting range balls at HV Thursday evening, @PING Apologist #9gave me a tip to press forward on these wedges and that has pretty much eliminated the gut shots. Physical status; no permanent damage that I know of and one Aleve each day worked well. All in all, I pretty much played to my unofficial handicap and a start to a really good round that I could not continue into the back 9 .
  18. I'm already looking forward to next year and hope more of our regions spies can make it. In addition to being a pretty central location, the Spokane area has some really nice courses. The group is wanting to play Circling Raven and Qualchan next year .
  19. "Work-life Balance" was the latest coined term during my last 5+ years with Boeing. I think a good many companies are having to adjust to changing workforce demographics. Good luck with the new job... did you think to negotiate a membership at a local country club?
  20. Here are a few more photos from Kalispell GC. I'll get some pics from MeadowWood today. Thanks again Harry for pulling this together - it was a blast! Have a safe drive back to "the Hat".
  21. Day 1 at Hangman Valley is now in the books. It's fun meeting the on-line persona's in person. The weather was fantastic as was the company. Rob, Harry, Bill, Chris and Kenny (L-R) This is the first time I've used a range with a lake for a landing area. Rob and I finished up our practice Thursday night trying to pitch into the funnel of the first fountain . Onto Kalispel GC today...stay tuned for more updates.
  22. Doral CC, wow, that brings back old memories of my days playing JGA events in south Florida. We lived in Ft. Lauderdale and I played there several times in the late 60's. It was quite a resort and a big deal for us yutes. As for the now cancelled golf event, it just goes to show that folks from all walks of life like to play the game. I wonder what they might have used for tee markers?
  23. That's my understanding as well - contains no THC. The problem, as has been pointed out, is that the market currently is unregulated. Worse, it is being flooded with products coming from everywhere and most without pedigree. This is not unlike the "snake oil" products of yesteryear. I know a couple near us that use it for arthritic pain and claim it works. At this point, I'm in the "waiting for more info" group". If some controlled, valid testing shows it is helpful, and side effect risk is low, I wouldn't be opposed to using. In the meantime, I'll take an Aleve here and there to combat the elbow and shoulder aches.
  24. No joy for me either... unless you are referring to the fish.
