Not hitting into me as where I’m practicing? Bad chipping technique. I’ve seen enough hacks on the chipping greens who thin or shank a wedge. Nobody needs to get hit by that type of shot. I move to a location where that person won’t cause me bodily harm
Haha I get it!

Unless someone has bad technique and can shank a chip or pitch shot I don’t care what their doing.
Its wasted energy to worry or concern myself with stuff I can’t control
Bad technique? Sorry I dont understand. Do you mean like hitting into you?

What does the group think about "Shag bag guy" and his cousin "Half bucket of range balls guy" who show up to the practice green and proceed to drop 40 or so balls onto the green while others are practicing? Does it bother you when this guy has balls all over the green while you are trying to chip/putt? Or no? Range ball guy also just leaves his balls there when he is done. Not in the bucket but all over. When asked why he does this he says "So others can use them for free". Of course, most people are polite and dont use stuff that does not belong to them, so the balls sit there until the mowers or another employee have to stop what they are doing and pick up 40 golf balls all over the place. Is this common? I find it rude and selfish, but maybe I am too sensitive lol. Opinions?

Played with 2 young men who were loooong. Easily 290 on drives and pretty straight. It was impressive especially since I am a 250ish hitter. On a 130 approach shots they both hit 50 degree wedges and missed the green. I pulled out a hybrid from 120 and got an "old man" chuckle out of them. I was a little embarrassed at first but then hit a smooth controlled half shot to 8 feet. I would have tried to send one up in the air too a month ago. Now I just hit half shots with longer clubs. Works amazing for hitting greens. Why I did not do this years ago is beyond me. Crushed those kids by 10 strokes and we only played 9. Good times.

I tried this. I also decided for fun I was going to hit one club more into every green. Just had my lowest score of the season so far. I feel silly for not doing this sooner.

This would be the beginning of the end for the Ryder Cup. The future is the LIV vs PGA world series. Team and individual champions. Seems inevitable if they don't merge. At least if they want to make money.

My kids are 36 and 34. So I basically took 25 years off from golf. Lack of totally free time, lack of money, and generally no interest as being involved in the kids lives was much more rewarding. If I could go back I'd do the same. Life is great now, kids are married with their own kids. Me and the wife hit the course today, I'm going with friends tomorrow. Granddaughter is visiting tomorrow for five days. Did I mention that life is great?
Sounds like life well done sir!

Forget golf for the time being. If you get to play then fine, but the focus should be on the family for a while. You will figure it out. The world will not stop, and you will find some time but not much, which is what its all about. Enjoy your little family, playing games comes in a very distant second.

Here in the south I need gloves in the summer. Sometimes its so humid I wear two. I have three that I rotate through during the round. I never take it off, even to putt. Good enough for Nicholas its good enough for me. Also, I forget to take it off a lot so I just leave it on lol

Wouldn't it be fun if there was something on the line for the players? Like losers shave their head. All for charity of course. But it would be fun to see some real stress.

Its probably because of the three sleeve pack, but also its a good number to practice with. Keeps things moving. And also because everyone else does it lol. I use Yellow ProV1x that are marked loudly to avoid mix ups.

For SPEED, play ready golf.
For SCORE, play either ready golf or by who's away - let logic and courtesy apply.
For a MATCH, play by who's away - that's why the rule book has different rules for stroke vs. match play.
Pretty much sums it up

For entertainment purposes or tracking pros and their stats I like what YouTube has provided. However, for instructional purposes, YouTube can get you into the weeds and second guess everything. Same with TikTok. Only thing golf on TikTok I like was a guy that would hit at his range with some insanely smooth tempo. Could’ve put me to sleep it was so relaxing.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkWas it that Asian dude always at the same range? Dudes swing was butter.

... Here are a few cliche's that certainly apply to the potential rollback. I try to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Happiness isn't getting what you want, it's wanting what you get. If and when the golf ball rollback happens for Am's, I will accept it and be happy I am physically able to walk and play golf, can afford equipment and greens fee's and have friends I can enjoy doing it with.True stuff. This however can be stopped. We can as a group put stop to this regressive change. The minority of overthinkers and fixers of the unbroken can be overruled. Ultimately, I do not think this will happen and those clutching their pearls because Rory is hitting the ball farther than they like can go on playing the regressive ball and leave the majority alone.

I don't think there are any "new" balls out there. If they did exist and I was playing a round by myself, I'd give it a try. I suppose there are golf balls out there now that do already have +- 5 yards or whatever distance with driver. I have played the shorter ball before (Wilson 50 Elite, Callaway Supersoft).
They are certainly out there now. Lead the way. Shouldn't be an issue. It is for the good of the game after all. lol

I may have missed it, but I did not see where they actually tuned back the ball like they are trying to do now. I read it as capping current {for the day} specs, not regressively tuning back. Is that correct?

300 yards is just a number, and basically arbitrary. It is a nice round number. But we could be using meters, and then what? We could make up a new unit of length and hit it 1,000! Is that better? That's just to say that there is no reason it should be a certain number. Back 25+ years ago people still hit long drives. And they were still far enough it was hard to see where the ball stopped rolling from the tee. It wasn't less fun.
Ok so are you playing the shorter ball now? If not why? It will not be less fun right?

It was shorter before the advent of 460cc titanium and graphite heads and solid core ProV1 era balls, and golf was fine.
That was then this is now. This is regressive. It is stopping innovation. Golf may have been fine then, but now is a whole different ball game.

I recently have been working exactly opposite and pushing my elbows outward. It has helped reduce the arc in my stroke. I've gone from 9-10 o'clock exposure on follow through, down to an 11 o'clock
Interesting. I lock my elbows to my ribs and rock my shoulders to putt. No hand movement.

Shag bag guy on the practice green.......
in Breaking News and Debate

So half bucket of range balls guy saved me. I grabbed my putter to go practice and realized when I got there that I forgot golf balls. Sure enough, half bucket guy had been there earlier and left all his balls everywhere. After knocking all the balls (30ish) to one general area off the green I used a couple to practice! I would have used the range bucket you usually just leave for someone else to pick up, but for some reason it was not there today. Thanks half bucket guy......You're a real American hero.
