  1. Exactly I think if we start punishing one group, we are just going to give an advantage to a different type of golfer or different group. I thought the cool thing about golf was allowing people to use their unique advantages to play the course how they think best to score as low as possible.I hate the idea of telling players that have power or worked hard to gain power, that its too big of an advantage. We'd never tell one of the master class iron players that "oh you are too accurate, time we do something about that" why do the same to guys who hit it long and use that to combat some of their inaccuracies in other parts of the game.
  2. I have played the tour BX all year and its a great ball. I need spin reduction off the tee and it performs as good as any other X tour ball out there. What I did find is that even though it was firmer in the short game feel, I could still spin the ball as much as I needed. I am a high spin player so a little bit of spin reduction is actually helpful in my game. Even with 6 year old wedges I am still getting great drop and stop performance and plenty of check on pitches. I did not notice any difference in length with my irons
  3. i bought 7 shirts when they had polos on sale for 7.99 and 5.99. I love these shirts. its great that they have no logos and they are extremely light and comfortable. I also really like the fit, its better than anything else I have, nike, adidas or other. Not sure how they will hold up long term with washing but so far so good. I wish I had discovered them sooner as I would have replaced all my golf polos with these.
  4. Yeah I currently am playing titleist AP2s but have a set of MP15s. I love the MP15s and I am looking at a new set of irons this year which leads me to likely go for the MMC. The issue is I am 29 with a long term girlfriend. I keep irons for about 5-8 years or so and looking 5-8 years into the future I wonder if I am going to be able to play as much golf as a do now and if my ball striking is going to stay good enough to play a mizuno MMC.
  5. That makes sense. But given what you said about the 770 marketing, I know its not a new iron, but wouldn't it be extremely similar to the Mizuno HMB's?
  6. I actually found a company called 32 degrees. I assume they are struggling with covid because they have dropped their prices significantly. I have a few of their polos and they have been solid so far. Hard to beat sub $10 polos
  7. I have actually done all three work out, lessons, and a new driver. I am 29 now and I hit the ball maybe 20-30 yards further than I did when I was 24 with the driver. Mostly that is due to improvements in consistency of strike and delivery but probably fitness as well. I was a former college football player so I have always had some explosiveness in my golf swing and good swing speed, but with football I was bulky. Post football I leaned out and focused on working on my core, leg, and back along with flexibility. Working on those parts of my body along with flexibility have definitely led to some distance gains. I started getting lessons last year and getting my strike consistent along with my delivery has helped. When I was younger I would swing out of my shoes trying to hit it farther and that would lead to high spinny fades. Now with the lessons and working on my technique I swing much smoother but get far more out of it. I am no longer all over the face of the club and that's kept my ball speeds up I would say the driver probably had the least effect on distance but may contributed a bit to accuracy. So I wouldn't use an illegal club since I dont think I would see much in gains and I worry I would lose control If I were chasing distance I would look at lessons and fitness as my big factors to focus on. Especially building a strong base and core to support higher swing speeds by helping me hold my posture, but working on flexibility.
  8. Question for your comparisons to other companies irons: Wouldn't the 770 be a better comparison to the JPX 921 forged or the MMC rather than the tour? Wouldn't the MC be a better comparison to the JPX tour rather than the MMC? It seems to me like comparing the 770 to the JPX tour would be a tough since the JPX tour is a tour CB and less forgiving than the MMC by comparison
  9. I actually tried this out for most of the summer. I have AP2's and started using my pitching wedge more in my short game so I figured moving to a vokey might be a good Idea for versatility around the green. After trying this out I have a few thoughts: Watch out for gaps in the full game. My set wedge I hit about 141 and my Vokey about 130. This left me with a decent gap between my 9 iron and P wedge and I could not quite get the distance right. You can do alot with your set wedge. I have gone back to my set wedge as I have been taking lessons and working on my technique has really made my set wedge almost as versatile. Through working on my partial wedge game, I find that on a well struck partial wedge shot and vokey shot, I am seeing the same amount of visual spin meaning the ball still 1 hops and stops however I still hit my number with my set wedge on off center pitches where that didn't happen with the less forgiving vokey ( expected) The set wedge is more forgiving when pitching and chipping out of bad lies. Maybe it's the sole, bounce, or tungsten weights but I can comfortably chip or pitch with my set PW out of any lie with confidence, minus tight lies. Tight lies are the only spot where I found the vokey to perform better for me It really comes down to what you use your PW for. I hit a ton of full shots and partial wedge shots, however I found that having the added forgivness my set wedge has works out for me best. I know it isnt spinning quite as much as the vokey, but if I can hit an 80 yard pitch and have it land 1 hop stop and dribble out a yard vs 1 hop and stop, I am really not gaining much vs the forgiveness of the set wedge.
  10. between the 3w and the driving iron, which leaves you a more comfortable distance in on most of the holes you play? On a short par 4 where you need to hit the fairway would you pull the 3wood or the driving irons first and would you ever hit the 3wood or driving iron off the deck on a par 5? Based on what you have said I would drop the driving iron in favor of the 3 wood if you are hitting it extremely well
  11. 718 Ap2 or maybe JPX 900 forged if you are looking to save a few bucks
  12. I always expect a high quality of strike, I wouldn't think about my last couple strikes when thinking about my next shot as it would just get in my head. On every shot I only try to anticipate the quality of strike if the lie is bad otherwise I take my club I would expect on a normal good strike. Is there a chance returning with the MP68s may be causing some distance control confidence issue? If you dont hit them will there is a pretty decent drop off in distance correct?
  13. I typically shop at my states golf show once a year. They have 2 for 20 brand new polos that are excess branded polos by local golf clubs that didn't sell. I usually buy 2-4. I also search ebays for steals. It's amazing how many brand new nice polos you can find on ebay for less than $20. I have also started buying Tennis polos instead of golf polos. From a performance standpoint I havent noticed much difference but they do seem to be 50% cheaper than a comparable golf polo.
  14. Irons, you hit more irons per round than you will drivers
  15. Taylormade does usually offer extra trade in value to encourage current taylormade club owners to trade up to the newest models, at least for a short period of time
  16. Tour velvet midsized for me. I have tried some other ones over the years, but I keep coming back
  17. I use the oakely prizm dark lenses in the oakley crossrange frames and really enjoy them. I dont typically wear them when I play as I am not used to playing in lenses, but I regularly wear them on the range and they are excellent. Just havent gotten up the courage to wear sunglass during a normal round of golf
  18. I really like it, I am seeing a nice mid high flight and I am getting much better performance in the wind. Still getting used to the sound though as it is much different than my Ping g410 lst in sound and in feel. I have hit shots I thought I miss hit based on feel only to watch them fly the full distance and realize I just hit them a little high on the face. One thing I am finding is that I tend to hit the center of the club face very consistently. I am using the 7x ventus velecore and I really enjoy it. I do find that when I give it a little something extra vs trying to be smooth, I do get a lot better performance which is a big difference between the sim and the G410 I was using
  19. Yeah your story would definitely scare me away from those shoes in the future, since they dont seem to last
  20. I agree with CNosil. I did this with my AP2s. I switched out my PW for a 46 degree vokey only to find out that my 9 iron went 150 and the new vokey wedge flew around 134 vs 141 with my set wedge. I like the chipping versatility of the vokey but that gap was unacceptable. I ended up carrying both wedges and dropping my 3 wood. That way I had all my gaps covered. Big thing to watch out for is a specialty wedge does not fly as far as a set wedge so be sure to get properly gapped if you are going to make the switch
  21. Thats crazy, my impression was that the issue with boost is that over the course of a year or 2 of continuous wear, people could feel it start to "bottom out" when they walked. I am shocked to see that the actual midsole is breaking down. How long did that take?
  22. I am shocked your bushnell drowned in the rain. I have an old 1m I have had for 4-5 years and played tons of rain rounds and never had any issues. I guess I was under the impression all bushnell range finders were waterproof. I'd get in touch with bushnell as well as I think that model is supposed to be rainproof based on its description.
  23. As much as it hurts to say, I would carry a chipper. I lose 3-4 strokes a round to bad chipping and I tend to putt off the green any time I can. Chipper makes perfect sense for my game
  24. True, but the mizuno buttery feel you get with their irons isn't necessarily what I want in my wedges, nor would I necessarily get that same feel in the woods. I think part of it is I am willing to overlook a different feel if the results of using another brands clubs are much better. Also, performance wise sometimes the brand you want doesn't make a club in the shape or with the tech you want.
  25. 1. No it does not. Some people chose to do it because they are huge fans of the brand . Others do it because manufacturers tend to make hybrids and woods blend into their ironsets now and it helps with gapping. I also think there is a little tour influence in the sense a few years ago it seemed like a lot fewer players played with mixed bags than they do now 2. From a consistency stand point, I do like my woods to feel similar to an extent, however if I get better performance from using clubs from different manufacturers why bog myself down using just 1? I think more people are taking a performance based approach than ever especially with the amount of data we have access to so it makes sense people would now pick clubs with the best numbers. Additionally some manufacturers really stand out in different parts of the game, and that was really true several years ago. Now everyone has started to make long drivers, high launching hybrids, forgiving and/or precise irons, and solid wedges. People have more choice than ever so why limit yourself? Especially if none of them are sending you checks for using their gear.
