Golf2Much
Today, Rory McIlory's attorney filed divorce papers in Palm Beach County, Florida seeking dissolution of his and Erica McIllory's seven-year marriage. He's seeking that their prenuptial agreement be enforced and to develop a shared custody plan for their three-year-old daughter Poppy. I wonder if he filed papers the week before, if Erica could have a claim on the $3.6M he won on Sunday? More importantly, with this now hanging over his head and a topic of discussion (not golf related) with the press, what impact (if any) will it have on his PGA Championship performance? Historically, he's done fairly well in the PGA Championship. Here's Rory's last ten PGA Championship finishes: T7, 8, T49, T33, T8, T50, T22, Cut, 17, 1. Will the distraction have any impact on his game? Time will tell. Siamese Moose
I'm sure this is not spur of the moment stuff. It has to have been developing for some time. It's probably a relief to him to get the official process underway, but the questions he's going to get from the press is surely going to be a distraction. jolter1
Doubt it will have any affect this week as he has known the filing was going to take place. What it means in the future if it gets nasty is another thing. Northern Monkey
He’s played well the last 2 weekends, and I’m sure this will have been set in motion before that, so it could well be that his improved form is due to the peace of mind of the decision being made.
