My first night for men’s league and managed a two over 37. The slow greens on this course always seems to eat my lunch and tonight wasn’t any different. Three putt par on a par 5 and birdie putts being left well short of the hole. One of these days I’ll remember to hit my putts a little harder, lol. Driver was money with 2 out of 3 drives clearing 300.

A smooth 101 at Victoria National yesterday. Won my match 3 and 2.

The hardest course I'll ever likely to play and an absolute blast.

Today was an interesting day and a tale of front nine vs back nine. Front nine is a par 35, where in total I shot 50. Back nine is a par 36, where in total I shot a 46. Overall, another +25 day. The reason I say the tales were different was that I really had to struggle on the front nine and I managed the bleeding. Something clicked on the back nine that I think is going to change my game for the better. I gained more effortless distance with my irons on the back nine by trying a technique for my swing that a buddy had mentioned that I never remembered until today. This hurt me this round because I wasn't expecting the distance and now have to manage my game differently. But I think it could be a huge release forward where I had been stuck in neutral.
I need another tee time ASAP 🙃

I'm in this funny place where the needle has clearly moved in my game and now I'm frustrated about hitting a whole new set of numbers(mid 70s) instead of the low 80s like I was focused on before.  Truth be told though I feel like I shouldn't be complaining because I'm finally sitting inside the scoring zone I've been aiming for since I joined the MGS forum.   😉
I'm down to an even 9.0 (or will be in the morning) and I've not shot a round north of 87 since March.  So I'm quite pleased with my 38/42 80 today.... and yet.  One 3 putt and two doubles where it felt like my old game decided to remind me that its still in there.  31 total putts (13 front 18 back).  Good driving off the tee, but the rough was thick today and I did not find as many fairways as wanted to.  Decent approach play, but I had a lot of situations where I was not going to get enough club on the ball with the iron I needed to hit so I elected to lay up short.  🤷‍♂️  I thought I did a really good job of taking what the course gave me and not forcing anything.  Until next time.

First time ever playing golf in the desert and man I had a great time! Played in Chandler, AZ at Whirlwind GC - Devils Claw on Sunday and Cattail on Tues afternoon. Both were fun tracks, shooting an 87/93 respectively.
The thing I did not realize was how the ball flew down there vs the wet air of N Washington. I was hitting 340 and 350 yard drives. I hit my 6i 260 on a hole. It was absolutely crazy to get flight and roll like that. I ended up hitting 2 club difference in my irons due to the carry I was getting.

Shot an 85. This is decent for my skill level. But the ALMOST factor is killing me. Was at a 33 on the back coming into the last hole, par 5. Decent drive into the fairway, then fired my first shank of the day into the woods. Tricky approach and a terrible putt... Triple.

I almost shot my lowest round and lowest 9 holes. A bogey was all I needed... Sigh.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. At least I'm seeing some improvement finally. Put two 5 irons from about 180 to 6 feet or so. Birdied one and left the other short by half a rotation.

Kept it in the fairway or close enough to it and around the green was money with the 58 degree.

Putting. Specifically lag putting killed me!

    Back to the range.

    Hit em straight.

    Oye!
all this talk of stinking the place up no matter what you do! That’s the track I’ve been on for a while. So I decided to go back to basics.
fortunately I have a mlm2pro sim in my garage, and I used it to watch what my changes back to basics revealed.
started with a simple stance, and proper ball placement. Then started with just a 1/4 backswing to make sure face was at spine angle. Think of JT’s pre-swing ritual. Then gradually increased it and started hitting balls about 1/2 speed and more. Got a soft little draw going that pleased my eye, and was fairly simple to keep reproducing. One of the thoughts that was working for me (results may vary)was imagining a tennis player sweeping forehand shots .
there is a small , very small, “pause” if you will, when the backswing ends, and the striking swing begins . Almost imperceivable. But it’s at that moment where the club falls into the “slot”, and allows the little “in to out” part to happen. Then you get the baby draw or straight shot. This really worked well with irons, but for some reason I swing my driver much faster, and I still can’t get it to quite fading a bit, so for now I’m just going with that.
So anyways, I shot a 4 over, which included a stupid double on a water hole. Also only had 27 putts, so the up and down game was going too, and the putting was rally solid.
but the whole point, is to quit all the crazy over analyzing your swing and get back to basics

Got out to play Torrey North yesterday. The course was as beautiful as ever but they just punched the greens so putting was incredibly difficult.
Didn't have my best round. Shot a 98. But I was happy with my first drive of the day.

Three weeks ago, I had my best-ever E on the front in league. Following a couple unspectacular rounds the last two weeks, I shot a PB 38 (+2) on the back last night. There was some luck, there was some skill, there were some missed opportunities, but overall, it was a great night. I decided to update the "Best Ever" thread I create after the even par. Go check it out if you are so inclined.

Got off work early enough to play a full round on my home course. It's probably just mental, but I always play better when I dress nicer. If I'm in a tank top and just winging it I play ok, but put on golf gear and be serious and I shot an Even par 71! Had my 9 yr old girl driving MD around. I missed some very make able birdies, lipped out a couple pars or I would've broke 70 again for the 2nd time this year!!!!!

I shot even at my home course, which is a difficult Jack Nicklaus Par 3 Course. Unfortunately, my brother birdied four of his last five to beat me by one lol

Instead if practicing I got the itch to play nine holes this morning. Picked a course where I would have to hit similar clubs from the tees as the tournament I am playing Saturday. I will say I am glad I did as I know what I need to focus on at the range Thursday. Only pulled driver twice. Outside of a weird three putt (all within 5') my putting was stellar draining a 10' and 12' and just missing on some more. 47. Number 13 was the three putt hole as well as hitting a ball OB with an 8i on a shank. 15 I tried to play safe off the tee with my UW and shanked it into red stakes.

Had a fun round with my uncle at his club yesterday afternoon.
always a beautful course, greens are so tough here but so fun. Course was in great shape.
Went +13 with a ton of pars, but a ton of doubles as well 🤦‍♂️. I was very happy with the overall game just caught some unlucky breaks and burned edges of cups all afternoon.
Had my first 300 yarder of the year, I was able to hang my hat on that 😂

    Perfect conditions for golf

I played at the Pointe Golf Club in Powells Pointe North Carolina recently and shot a 104. I have been working on getting better with the driver and did fairly well hitting 260-285 yards consistently and staying on the fairway. I have an issue with one part of my game falling off when i am working on another. I could not chip or putt to save my life on the front 9. I started to put it together on the back 9 shooting a 46 (which is good for me). This is the the beginning of my 2nd year playing so any tips to not let one part of my game slip while fixing another would be appreciated.

My friend had a doctor appointment today so we got off very early and played six holes.
That worked out really well for me too since I'm just coming off the DL (as we used to say).
I EAGLED a very short par 5 which stimulated my physical "recovery" nicely.
Big intentional banana slice off the tee shortened the hole more.
9-wood to inside of eight feet.
One putt that dallied on the rim and then decided to drop.

I'm playing modern equipment on a 6000 yardish Donald Ross course than opened in 1906.
Know your own level, I always say!

Played my home course Leasowe last night, very up and down, play 20.3 handicap so slope rating means I get 23 shots, got a midweek stableford tomorrow so nice warmup, need to work on my consistency as I now know I can play around the course pretty well.

Shot 46 in league play, had 2 doubles and only one par. My short game was not there for the first 4 holes. I don't play on the weekends so it's like the first 4 holes I have to learn all over again. Hopefully everyone else shoots good.

Played 18 this am and it was HOT.  Shot a 78 and couldn’t buy a birdie despite 7 good looks inside 10 feet.  I’m glad I walked…to get some steps in…and the middle of the round became a little bit difficult.  Hit some good shots, made some good swings and one of those I caught on video for our own @GolfSpy_SHARK who understands my love hate of the U505.  I was fortunate that this was a highlight of my day.

Probably my worst day playing. Played about 20 rounds this month  and likely exhausted from overplaying.  Didn’t really feel it today.  Made the best out of it and used 3 woods and hybrids off the tee instead of irons and driver
Had left handed clubs to chip with and played with a broomstick putter.  I find that playing the same course over and over isn’t that simulating. Will be rotating and not play the same course twice over this season

Big congratulations @OdinSnipes414 on breaking 90 and the PB!  That is a significant milestone.  Good work!
I got to play yesterday unexpectedly.  Bonus Golf!  It was a gorgeous day.
I played very well for me for 15 holes, with two birdies (one a hole out from about 25 yards) and a +4 score at that point.  The closing holes are tough, and due to my own mistakes off the tee on 16 and 18, and some tough lies in the deep rough (no mowing last week due to the rain), I finished at +9.
ShotScope data tells me I really need to work on my approach shots, as I am -5.2 in that stat.  Fortunately, my short game exceeds that of a tour pro somehow (to my surprise), at nearly +1 SG.  I need it b/c I am frequently scrambling!  There is a direct correlation in my game between GIR and score.  That's probably true for everyone; I think it is the most important stat if you can putt at least average.
Also, the LAB DF2.1 is a work in progress.  The roll is unquestionably better than my old gamer.  I am making more one putts and more long putts.  But I also am making more three putts b/c I am very much still learning distance control with it.  Those stats are improving, however, so I am optimistic.
Anyway, it was a great day to have some bonus golf in my life.  Searching for some more this week.
