Thanks for letting me know, I initially clicked on it and it involved a political thing and I was sweating that it was going to post that one.

It just pained me to think of you out on the course and not killing-it on style points.  Hope it's the right size 😉.

My family knows our Christmas routines well, anything but a bag of tees brings 'the look'.

My daughter's boyfriend gave me this for Christmas.
The pen is a cavity back, so it's easier to write with for newbies than those hard to use blade pens!

    Cute gift, but...
He's still not good enough for her! 😆

I burned my hand pretty bad a few days ago trying to pick up a 400° sautéing pan out of the oven so that my one year old son wasn’t able to touch it, he came out of nowhere like a rogue spider. Made it through a couple days without any blistering. felt terrible yesterday, but was able to get some special cream from work for burns. Skin doesn’t feel too bad today, no blisters. Hopefully I can start swinging again in a few days versus a few weeks on the positive side though it doesn’t feel to be any long-term damage and my son was safe.

I got really excited when I saw the thread title as I have my fair share of experience doing golf trips as a single, but not in the area you are going.
Good luck and looking forward to to seeing how it all goes for you!

Not sure if it's anywhere near your intended route or not, but have read lots of favorable things about Mammoth Dunes and Sand Valley.

As long as there is a way to keep heading west i don’t mind getting off the beaten trail as a matter of fact I prefer non path. That said I might alter my route and go a little further north and hit Minot ND, I have a nephew that lives there. Stay on HWY 2 thru MT and go thru Glacer Nat’l park into Whitefish Mt. Cut across Kootenai Nat’l forest. I might need to get home by then I’ll play it by ear but would love to hit Wine Valley as a capper to the trip. Plenty of time to decide and all this depends on how long I stay in Wisconsin.
Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated

Nice trip!!  How much are you willing to pay to play a round and how far off your path are you willing to travel to play?
Can't help you until you get to Idaho/WA.  Lot's of nice city/county courses in Spokane area reasonably priced.  Circling Raven on the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene is more expensive but one of our favorites we play each year.  It's about a 45 minute drive off I-90, but there's a casino and hotel there with stay and play package.  While the resort course in Coeur d'Alene is beautiful and unique, I think it's overpriced.  If you can time it right, @Thin2win lives in Spokane and I will come join you.  Love to play up there.  Down here in the Tri-Cities I would venture over to Walla Walla to play Wine Valley, a little expensive... but nothing like it in Portland!!  I would also join you there; love it!!  As you drive over the Columbia River from Pasco to Richland on I-182, the golf course to your right is our muni Columbia Point... wave to me!!  When you hit I-84, a jog east 30 minutes to Pendleton gets you to Wildhorse and another casino/hotel course that's another favorite.

I am taking a road trip this June 2023 with the first half of the trip with purpose. Driving from Oregon to lets call it Superior Wi, close enough. While in Northern Wi/MN I'll play a few rounds in that area. On my way back to OR I want to hit up a couple 3-4 rounds along the way. My route is from Superior, WI across MN into Fargo ND along 94 thru MT and hitting interstate 90 Billings, Butte, Missoula, Spokane, Tri Cities and then home to the wet side of oregon.
my question, Anyone know of played or have hidden gems that would be a good stop to take break play a round and move my way down the road??

    Thanks folks

I am an avid walker, so golf shoe comfort is important to me.  I purchased a pair of Saucony water-proof trail running shoes for $65 on eBay and have been very happy with them.

We ran out of a critical part today at work, so we got sent home a little early. I thought I would take advantage of the opportunity and went to the range.
I had a fun time getting out and working on my game. Started out with wedges and they weren't too bad, I did fight a little bit of contact off the hosel. My distance control was good, so I'm happy about that.
I wore a jacket to the range and took it off after getting hot. I then decided to throw it over my shoulders and tuck the sleeves under my armpits. Staying connected is a big problem for me and this helped keep it in check.
My driver was good again today, along with the fairway woods.

I was happy with this one.

Hit up the putting green afterward and it wasn't as sharp as normal to start out, but I settled down and finally got a grip on distance control. I usually see a bit of a mental lapse on the days I go after work. I think the early wakeup time does that, especially the week after being off for shutdown.

My bag is organized much like sirchunksalot as shown below when I am on a riding cart. If I am walking using my MGI, the order is flipped (D-4W-OW next to putter), except for the putter, to maintain access to pockets. But whatever works for you, there's no right way.

I like having mine organized longest too shortest from left to right. I like being able to know where each club is and goes in the bag. Right now, I have it set up for sitting on the trolley with the longest clubs near the front.

With the Q Follow, it's not a problem to have it set up opposite since the handle allows for easy retrieval no matter where they're placed. I don't like taking the chance of the iron heads rattling into the graphite shafts of my woods.

I dont think i could not have a set spot for a club. Chaos would just be awful. I had my dad caddie for me and he didn't know where the clubs were suppose to go and just put them in wherever. I went to the bag to grab a club and had a small panic attack haha

I have had the same bag for a number of years now and have my system for organization. However I am curious how everyone else organizes their bags.
For me every club has its place and every place has a club for it. Of course there are many different bags and variations, however for me I have a 15 slot bag and goes as follows.

I should mention this flips if I am in a cart as the bag needs to be rotated around. Either way
Driver goes top middle, in this case the putter well. As it is often used and front and center for me this is the go to spot. If it is flipped then I usually put it in the right slot of the two.
3 wood goes next slot down on the left and to the right of the driver goes whatever other long club is in the bag, this case it is a 7 wood, however hybrid, 2 iron or any of the others that make it in or out of the bag go here.
In between the woods are my 4 crossover and 5 iron. 4 Iron always on the right and 5 iron always on the left.
The next row down in the middle are my 6 and 7 irons. 7 iron on the right and 6 on the left. I think this is because I use my 7 more often so naturally being right handed it is a more accessible spot.
To the left side I go Pitch then A wedge below with the 8 then 9 on the opposite side of that. I like this rather than zig zagging down as A-8 are used a lot and they are suited well here to find, grab and replace. The separation between the wedges and irons for me is also nicer in terms of organization.
In the middle of the irons are my 54,58 again with the 54 being on the right as it is used more often and also doesn't get interfered with when grabbing the putter.
    Finally putter goes left side.
I have used other bags with different tops, but this always seems to be my go to way of organizing my bag. I also have the same spots for gloves, balls, tees and all that however again that is largely dependent on the bag itself.
So how about you? What does yours look like and why do they go where they go?

David Leighton Reid got a reaction from GolfSpy SAM in Question about Lie Angle
I played standard lie for several years and always played a cut with my irons.  In Ping's online fitting, I fall into the black dot or standard category.  Through experimentation, I found that 2° upright straightened my ball flight.  As mentioned above, I believe the correct lie angle is unique to the individuals swing.
