  1. I have not had issues with mine (2012). I do remember hearing there were issues with the '08 models when it first came out though. Only problem a couple other guys in the neighborhood have had is since switching to lithium batteries. If you run them dry the cart is absolutely dead. It's just full speed to nothing. No slow down period like with lead acid batteries. The problem is with the electric brake if you want to unlock the brake to tow it there are two jumpers you have to switch under the seat to manually unlock the brake. If there is no juice in the batteries it won't trigger the unlock. So we've had to throw a generator on a trailer and haul it out to the course to charge up the cart just enough to get home. We let it charge for 2 beers and that was enough.
  2. Ball park answer is 1/2" of shaft length is about 3 swing weight points. Better question is will the 1/2" length difference on the irons mess with your swing?
  3. I play the original Cleveland CBX Launcher irons. Solidly in the GI category but guess what, I like the look of watching shots hit the green waaaaay more than looking down at a thin topline or having blades in the bag. FWIW I'm currently a 2.1 and was down to a 1.0 last season. A lot of good advice already above but I would stress getting fit and getting comfortable with your irons. Ignore looks and ask what are your current irons either doing (or not doing) that you think can be fixed with a new set of irons? If the answer is only that you think you should have something that looks nicer then save your money. There is no need to switch.
  4. Our champ flight plays the tips, Super sr flight plays a combo setup. Our Sr flight plays within their normal flight from the tee's that flight normally plays from, but their score counts for both and they could win both. They also have the option to play from one tee box up, but then their score only counts towards the sr flight. Otherwise flights 1-4 all play from the same tees.
  5. If I know I'm looking for a specific thread I'll use google and just add "mygolfspy xxxxxxxxxxxxx" for a search. They come up then but you have to add mygolfspy to whatever you are searching for. Google does a better job of finding threads this way and the search within the forum
  6. I feel like it's been the same question for the past 10 years on this forum, How do we make it better? From being on staff for a couple years and now back here as a member I honestly think the answer is nothing. We can add features and different sections all day long. Search for posts and content until you are blue in the face. But at the end of the day it's the members interacting with themselves organically that makes a good forum. I feel like we do a great job of that here and will continue to do so no matter what happens. So from a what can we do perspective there really isn't much. Make sure nobody is an A hole and if we get some some testing opportunties to bring in new members that's great. If not we will all still continue to be a great community and talk about golf. You guys are doing great so just keep it up and we will be just fine.
  7. Joined initially for the huge contest/giveaway MGS ran to kick off the forum. I stayed because it was a small group of people that were passionate about golf and we had some incredible conversations. I've litterally made life long friends just from this forum. I've been on both sides of the house here as a member and former forum mod/director (and yes I'm still around and active). For the vast majority of the time on this forum it has been almost a completely separate entity from the main MGS site. Personally I feel like that worked pretty well. I'm not crazy about the direction MGS has taken as they've grown the main site. It seems very antagonistic toward the majority of OEM's. Almost like they decided that's going to be their hook/angle and they go out of their way to try and pick on the major OEM's. I've loved the forum side of things because it seems like we worked in a firendlier manner with the OEM's. Just the way it feels from outside (and then inside) and then back outside looking in. I can for the giveaways, I stayed for the community. Member testing has always been huge part of our community and without it I don't think we'd be a tenth of the size we are. It's really a numbers game, bring in a few thousand new members with a testing opportunity and we are bound to have a handful stick around and become wonderful contributing members of the forum. Without those opportunities I worry we will become stagnant. At the end of the day though this has always been a place for people who love golf to come together and talk about golf (and many other things in life) I don't see that part changing and that's a good thing. I feel it's our core competency and overall should remain the focus.
  8. I'd also recommend taking them in and getting the lofts checked. If the 54 was a little strong and the gap a little weak that would make them closer. How is the gap between your gap and PW? Also how is the gap between your 54 and next higher lofted wedge? Finally don't test on the course in different conditions. There are all kind of factors that could cause that between two random shots. One uphill vs down. One with and one against the wind. One with a flyer lie vs not. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples vs a one off shot that happened to nuke over the green. Last note, I wouldn't try and get accurate yardages on the range. Next time you golf and it's not too busy just drop a couple gamer balls you actually play and hit both clubs and then check the yardage. If you have a laser an easy way to do that is hit them both off the tee and then shoot the ball washer or hole sign back on the tee box when you get to them. Will give you a much better idea vs judging where a range ball landed.
  9. Very interesting, I just picked up an Evnroll ER2v or I would be tempted. That return policy is no joke! "Yes I'd like to return this putter. Is anything wrong with it? Yeah, it 3-putts too many greens"
  10. That's the beautiful thing about adjustable drivers. In the time it took to write this post you could just adjust the driver to draw and test it out either on course or at the range. Don't like it? In the time it takes to read this reply you could adjust it back and work on the swing issue causing the problem But as others have mentioned the draw setting at the hosel typically just makes the lie angle more upright.
  11. Wow, the more things change, the more they stay the same Feels like deja vu all over again and I'm getting PTSD from picking testers a couple years ago just from reading all this. My only advice is saying please don't sweat it to our current mods. You guys are doing a fantastic job and there will always be posters who just don't get the MGS vibe and goals of the forum. Keep up the great work!
  12. Just curious, is there a reason you are looking for something to modify first vs just buying an armlock?
  13. I have a Superspeed set I haven't started using yet, but after reading this I'm very intrigued by the stack system. Not so much for the protocols but more for the app and ease of use. So went and tweeted at Superspeed about an app and they actually replied and said they are working on it. It'd be very nice to just watch a quick video, then repeat it in real life and enter input numbers as I go. Hopefully it comes out soon.
  14. I'm all the same grip, unless I get a new club. Then I will just use the grip it came with for a little bit until it gets slick and replace with my normal grip. Do you happen to install grips with air? If so just blow it off and add a layer of two of blue painters tape and try it again. Rinse and repeat until comfortable.
  15. Thanks guys, spent the day on the couch watching The Masters, it was a good day
  16. Question 1 has been covered pretty well, no issues with the scenario as you described it. He asked, you answered truthfully. Along those same lines...you asked question #2 so I'm going to give my opinion Blades shouldn't exist. There is absolutely zero performance reason to ever play them. A ton of pro's don't even play them. A flushed shot feels just as good with any club. Why would you ever want to make the game harder??? The ONLY reason I can even think of to ever play blades is pure ego. /rant Seriously though, I do believe that just about everyone would benefit from playing a more forgiving club, Unless you have dime size wear spots on your clubs like Tiger you would most likely benefit from more forgiving irons. I am a strong believer in play what makes you happy though. So if blades give you more enjoyment on the course then have at it.
  17. You probably have room to do that, just be aware that it will stiffen the flex a little bit. Personally I'd either deal with the 1/4" short or just extend the long irons to achieve your desired playing length.
  18. Same solution too. Make sure the tool are using has the proper torque, tighten until it clicks. If that doesn't fix the issue then try replacing the screw and washer.
  19. Just looking at Sub70 as an example, I think their stuff is fairly reasonably priced compared to many others. Hats range mostly $25-$30. Hoodies $40-$60, Polo $50. In the grand scheme of golf apparel pricing I'd say they are squarely in the middle. I think when looking around in our current time we can also blame a global pandemic and inflation for a fair amount of the pricing. I feel like 5ish years ago Titleist visor's were around $20. Now they are $35. Hat's used to be $22-$25, now they are $37. Just in the last year they've went up $2-$5. To answer the other side of the post...most smaller brands don't have big budgets. When you are buying SWAG items like hats, shirts, hoodie's etc, You have 2 choices on how to get a lower price. First is to buy lower quality. This is a surefire way to not get repeat customers and possibly tank your main product focus. You don't want to be the OEM selling stuff nobody wears and people complain about on social. The 2nd way to get lower prices is buy in huge quantity. Not really an option for a smaller brand being responsible with their money and also having to invest in their main product. So yeah, people want swag and want to promote the brands they love. But the brands have to front the money for those items and getting something of decent enough quality to satisfy, but cheap enough to sell through, is probably a hard problem to solve. So the end result is we get something in line with pretty much everybody else. Plus if you are going to be throwing in a hat with a club purchase you have to make up that cost somewhere else.
  20. I feel like there is much higher margin in apparel than in the clubs. It's why all the "influencers" try to get big enough to offer merch. And while I don't have an answer for you, I feel your pain. Not just from club OEM's too but from smaller apparel brands. I'd love to support the little guy, but I can't justify dropping $100+ dollars on one Waggle 1/4 zip or hoodie. Unfortunately I only see prices going up in our current economy. Guess I'll searching the clearance racks next to you for a while
  21. I'm assuming that's a question not a statement. And no, a G15 and a Big Bertha will have different CG locations, different spin characteristics, different MOI etc. It's not going to be the same.
  22. If you lose a ball on a hole, as soon as you move on to the next hole it's fair game for anyone to find it and is no longer yours. Personally in your explained situation I would have done the exact same as cnosil. If i found it I'd offer it back, if it was mine and someone tried to give it back I'd either say no, or I'd take and offer to buy them a drink. At my course we have a rule between a bunch of guys. We all know what type of ball and markings each other use, so if you find someone's ball and give it back to them then they owe you a drink. It's rather fun presenting someone's ball back to them at the bar
