Hey ya'll,
Been awhile since I've been on here, been lurking and reading, but not chiming. Any way... I've been thinking of dipping my toe into club building and I have a project in mind, but need some guidance.
I have a set of Project X (original px) parallel tip shafts and can't find any tip trimming instructions for them. I remember reading awhile back that project X parallel shafts don't require tip trim since they aren't blanks like other shafts. I got these on a smoking deal and would prefer not to render them useless.
Also would it be best to start this journey with a heat gun vs a torch for club head removal? I've got a few old clubs I can experiment with.
Thanks for any help!

Dave,
Just the reading material I needed! Been looking for cigar cutter and a new lighter, lost mine in a recent move and its time to stop borrowing from my friends.
Also piqued my interest in trying an Olivia series V.

I really liked the addition of the line to the crown, really helped make the face look square. I remember the rogue looked almost toe down and open faced to me.
One of the only drivers that had below 2500RPMS of backspin, couldn't beat my G400 dispersion or distance, but a real bomber!
Only knock is the sound-blah!

Those CB 57's are absolute stunners! I was close to getting them but I preferred the look of the PP9003SN at address - something about the high toe just spoke to me.
Noticed you made nice bag choice too!
Haha I did and it was 100% based on your reviews!

Really like the adventures in golf series with Eric, really cool to get a peak behind the process for the clubs.
I've had folks from my club try my Miura's out and a few went out to get some sets. Pretty solid clubs, and with the amount of money you really should get fit- especially if you don't already know your specs.
They really know how to hide offset and make a club seem bigger or smaller than it really is.

... I don't actually feel bad for OEM's but sometimes I certainly understand how difficult it is to design a club that appeals to gofers today concerning looks and feel. I played the Epic last season and loved the sound/feel that is very dense with a deep thud. Callaway got hammered for producing a driver that felt "dead" to many younger players that never hit a persimmon driver. So the Rogue and SZ has a more explosive sound/feel that of course I do not care for.
.
I would agree with this description- I used the Epic pretty extensively, but it felt pretty dead, that's just the jailbreak tech working.
There is a lot of good stuff out there, but to the OP- from your brief description , it sounds like a sub par fitting. There might be life in that driver, but it may not have been fit properly.

Haha It used to be higher but it still on the high side but that loft fits my yardage gap nicely and fits how I like to play it.
I actually used to have Titleist through the whole bag (Including a Scotty and bag) but the Cobra stuff is on the new-ish side and I got all of it with either tournament winnings or for decently less than retail. I JUST turned pro but yea I got fit for pretty much everything. Only the 3 wood and putter weren't but I had a really good idea of what I needed.
Corban headcovers?
Were you playing out at Creekside Golf Club?
Good luck testing the Hogans!

Good into guys!
Just got a friend to buy the NX7 pro based off the rangefinder tests. Looks pretty good from the photos. Not in the market myself, but would've been significantly cheaper than the leupold I have.

Great reviews guys! I got my LST back at the start of May and it has been awesome all around! When i got fit the heaviest and stiffest (and cheapest) option was a HZRDUS yellow 76 6.5 and I hit some long drives, but not a good fit, the lowest spin and launch combo was 14.4* and 2900 spin, that was with a 8.5* head lofted down 1*. I loved the head and got fit into a Oban tour limited 70 05 flex and am now at 11* and 2400 spin.
Really happy with the driver I even got fit into a set of irons and wedges. I think Ping has some solid offerings even for faster swing speed/ better players. They may not be as soft as miura irons/ wedges I was playing but they are feeling pretty good.

For instruction Chris Ryan golf. For info and fittings TXG
I second Chris Ryan, I like that he keeps it short and simple- and reinforces the basics.

For my 600th post (a mild achievement), it is kind of poetic that I get to celebrate first in my golf career. (a mild achievement)
It finally happened. After trying to figure out how to put together a complete round and break 90, it finally happened.
My wife and I played together yesterday afternoon, and playing with my wife means that this is a legit score. My wife doesn't give me any putts, doesn't allow mulligans, and overall holds me incredibly accountable.
I played "boring" golf (keep the ball on the fairway from the tee, get as close to the green as possible on the 2nd shot, chip close and putt out) on the last 9 holes and for whatever reason, everything just clicked. Can't wait to get back out there again and see what the golf gods have in store for me.
Congrats! Always good to see a goal achieved!

I went back to the tour preferred x and it has been great. I toyed around with the pro v1 and x as well as the tour preferred, and gained carry and distance over each.

I went back to using the red tour spider. So much forgiveness across the face. To my surprise my Miura km 350 holds up pretty well too

I understand the soccer game very well, played for many years, and coached some. I miss spoke about offense, I meant lack of scoring. Basically there is none, Or there is very little in most games, the only time you see scoring is when one team is really good and the other isn't. I watch the World Cup, mainly because my daughter likes to watch, but outside of that, soccer needs to figure something's out if I'm gonna waste 3 hours watch that boring game.
I see that being relative, a 2-0 score line is a 14-0 NFL score.

So I know this is a GOLF forum, but are there any other soccer fans out there? With Champions League Group Stage day 1 in the books, I need to discuss it with others who care. Premier League and WCQ are also an option, but I don't pay much attention to MLS or any other international leagues.

I had a good one watching Sevilla vs Liverpool
But all I wanted to watch was city's first match.
Also enjoyed watching Barcelona vs Juventus

I can totally understand that- but I used the scoring metrics given. I would say that they do have more impact for the average consumer, that feeling i describe about it being somewhat dead on miss hits, would've ruled it out in a hitting bay.Great review. I got a good feel for your likes and dislikes. I think I would've considered stealing some points from the subjective criteria and placed them elsewhere considering how you felt about grading on looks.
I've got 2 questions for ya.
Do you track fairways hit normally? If so, are you seeing a % increase with the Epic?
Is the distance loss with the Epic equating to longer clubs into greens? Are we talking like half a club or 1-2 clubs different?

The app I use tracks that automatically, I saw a bump in fairways hit from 46% to 48%, but it doesn't take into account what club I'm teeing off with.
Well overall it was giving a shorter club into greens than the M2 particularly because of its performances on miss hits. Best drive with the epic was 317yds where as the M2 was 336yds, but I don't have the consistency to see those numbers more than maybe once a round.

I really wanted to love the red one, really love the headcover, but the feel wasn't there for me vs my tp mills.
Got to give it more time

Have to eat these words now... though it didn't feel as good as my previous putter- still doesn't, the reds working out pretty well now.
