  1. Our head swivels away from things as easily as it swivels toward them. If you're in the same room as my daughters and me, I expect you to keep yourself from leering at them. Is it really that hard to look a young woman in the eye and just be polite?
  2. No doubt, but still an interesting question. I have got to wonder what this does to your back. 9 years looping at a club has done me no favors (although I wouldn't have traded it for the world).
  3. Hey there Arccos users - Who are our Android users, and what phones are you using? It's about time to retire the Moto G7, and from an Arccos standpoint, good riddance. It's been awful. I'm a huge Arccos fan, but I've basically stopped using it because of my phone.
  4. That's huge. I have ready access to a TrackMan (actually three TrackMen) no more than 30 minutes from my house, and I use them maybe once a week through the winter. Having something in the house would be nice. And since the only room in my house with high ceilings is the garage, I need something I can set up and tear down quickly.
  5. If you go all the way of cutting the shaft down, consider adjusting the lie angle and the weight to match your six iron.
  6. Lots of good recommendations above. Think about something else to stretch your dollar - how far does your father hit the ball? How fast does he swing? He's carrying a 3i iron and 4 iron right now? They're so hard to hit that they're probably just taking up space in his bag, especially if he's getting slower. Slower swing speed golfers also tend to see multiple clubs at the top of the bag going the same distance. With fitting not being an option, I'm going to make some gross generalizations here based on the info we have and recommend that you look into something like this: Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo Driver: 12* Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo 4 or 5 wood Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo irons: 4i - DW Cleveland Smart Sole 4 Sand wedge I haven't checked on pricing, so take that into account. I really like how the new HB Turbo line of irons do a better job of blending the irons so the short irons look like short irons. I've heard so many good things about them for slow swing-speed players. I'd bet that this bag of 11 clubs would be gapped pretty well, and every club would be something that he can get up in the air and have fun hitting. There's no rule that says you have to carry 14 clubs. You're doing a great thing for your dad, and I hope this gets him out on the course and with you more often. All that being said, I have to take issue with a 53 year-old being called "senior"
  7. The grip and shaft band don't give any clues?
  8. @gavinski91 - Amazing unboxing video. Thanks for putting the work into it. And it's interesting to see how things we think will drive us nuts with a club just don't seem to matter; especially if the club performs. I had a lot of doubts going into CCC^2, and I loved the F8's.
  9. This is key for me as well. I feel so much more confident going in with a game plan. I'm inconsistent enough that my plan falls apart and I get to start being creative. I played a round recently at a course I'd only played once. I mapped out the entire course, and even though I played from one tee ahead of where I'd game-planned (I was paired with a group of chill bros who didn't play much, so I suggested we play the 6,100 yard tees to have fun), it was nice to know have the game plan, and I had my round of the year. It just feels good not making stuff up as I go.
  10. If you're just getting started, what you have should suit your needs pretty well. My highest lofted wedge right now is 58* (I carry 50*, 54*, 58*). Get good with basic shots (not manipulating the face) with the wedges you currently have. At some point, you may try to start opening up the face of your wedges and find that the heel gets in the way. That's when you'll want specialty wedges. If the D7 gap wedge is like the D7 Forged gap wedge that I have, it's more like an 11 iron than a wedge. The chipper mentioned above is a good call for certain people, but I'd actually recommend picking up a hybrid or two and learn to putt with them as well as hitting full shots. The putt with a hybrid is a dead-simple shot to learn (seriously, you can pick it up in about 30 minutes - just adjust for the lively face), and a wide-soled hybrid is even more forgiving than most chippers.
  11. My dad, my mother-in-law and I all just received our annual rejection emails. I got practice round tickets in 2014, so I keep on trying to see if lightning will strike twice. When my daughter moves out, she'll start entering the lottery as well. I was kinda hoping that when IBM bought us two years ago, we'd somehow get a chance to get tickets, but no dice.
  12. I used to be too conservative off the tee and didn't have a good strategy on what to hit when. Once I discovered the Fawcett driving decision tree, I finally started feeling comfortable with my decisions off the tee. I still hit foul balls now and then, but as someone mentioned above, I never feel like I made a bad decision off the tee.
  13. I'm addicted to the old Adidas Adipower 4orged. I've been known to pick them up on eBay. I've been working hard to avoid the Stan Smith's, but I'm going to break down sooner or later. I lived in Stan's back in high school in the late 80s. I'm not a sneakerhead by any means, but I was in a Goodwill auction for a pair of Golf le Fleur One Stars and got out around $150. They went for well over $200.
  14. Here in central VA, we have three different conditions: Wet Really wet Raining My 50 and 58 have fairly low bounce, and they're not much good for short shots unless it's unusually dry. My next set of wedges will likely have more bounce, especially the 58. In high school, I used to have an old Ping Anser that was ridiculously light, and I'd use that on really fast greens. My normal gamer was a Ping B61 with some lead tape to get the weight up.
  15. TS1s and TS2s are better player clubs (especially the TS1s). I've tried the TS2s, and I'd have them if I didn't get selected for the Wilson D7 Forged test last summer (which I love).
  16. AP1s are very good clubs for higher handicap players. My daughter plays them, and she shoots in the mid-high 80s when she plays from the forward tees and the 90s if she plays from farther back.
  17. How hard would it have been, during the initial interview, to say something like "You know, I just didn't have it going with the driver today. Some days it works and I look like a genius, and some days it doesn't work - and you get this. We all fight the driver some days, and I'm no different." Can't his handlers coach him on how to respond like this, instead of acting like a 4 year old?
  18. It's been a clinic by Morikawa. I love watching that golf swing. I wanted to see Jordan get it done, but this is just incredible.
  19. Geez. If he's not going to make bogeys when he hits it into the hay, then Morikawa is earning it. But I'd still like to see Jordan find a way to sneak this out.
  20. I grew up at the end of persimmon and still play it a few times a year. It reminds me why I like 460 cc drivers . It's just so much easier to get the ball airborne now. I agree wholeheartedly that modern drivers are far too long for most mortals. I'll choke halfway down the grip on a driver when I'm spraying it. I don't hit the 3 wood any better; I just hit it shorter. I'm surprised fitters don't try people in shorter shafts to get people more consistency and to hit the ball closer to the center of the face.
  21. And then CoMo makes that clutch putt on the par 5 after an uninspired pitch. Jeez, this is getting good.
  22. Looks like Jordan is going to make him play some golf coming in after that birdie.
  23. It's amazing how sometimes taking clubs out of your bag makes you play golf better. Congratulations pal!
  24. Congratulations on the sobriety, nice bag, and most of all nice GWAR reference. RIP Oderus.
  25. Not only will it save years of bad play, having someone else teach your wife will likely save your marriage. Good luck to you. I can't get my wife to stick with it.
