  1. Funny how people can read the same material and have completely contradictory thoughts as to what was discussed within the material!
I took Padraig as saying his personal preference is to play tournament links golf prior to The Open.  Furthermore, he has always been amazed at how Tiger can just show up and be so competitive in majors without playing tournament golf the week before.  Padraig said he would be a basket-case going into a major if he hadn't been competing in the weeks prior.
Maybe i'm missing something.  To me, this is another instance where other Hall-Of-Fame players consider Tiger to be immortal!  Doesn't have anything to do with Padraig suggesting Tiger isn't serious about winning The Open.

Nah you’re not missing anything, I believe Nicklaus also took off at times before majors for prep. Different players have different regimens for how best to prepare but in this case I think it’s just that Tiger has physical limitations now that he has to work around and it showed at the British.

  2. Jordan will get back into form with or without the gear but he played pretty well with these over there. Problem for him is the rest of his career will be measured by a 2 year span of possibly unrepeatable performance maybe even in his own mind. But I digress, I’ve never been a titleist equipment player for no other reason than I could never afford to try one. Not to say that I can afford many of the other OEMs but they were a tad more accessible for me at the time. Good looking gear though. I know plenty of fellas who will wanna get these in their bag ASAP. Till the next release at least...

  3. The majors are currently the most prestigious obviously but at the same time is the pga championship on equal footing with The Masters or either of the Opens? There’s definitely a pecking order even among the current 4 majors so of course there’s going to be a bit of one in majors versus weekly stops.

No argument that there is plenty of subjectivity that goes in defining a successful career though. I seem to recall even Sam Snead saying he focused more on number of wins than he did the majors of the time.

There’s another talking point to add to the pot, the accepted majors have changed over the years and you never know, maybe down the line the pga championship gets dropped or Augusta decides to close its doors to the tour (yeah right..). Maybe even we get a 5th major years from now but would any of these hypotheticals change the definition?

The Canadian open was a major at one point and I don’t even know when it’s scheduled. People are fickle so it’ll change eventually just like everything else.

Personally I go for the quality of the wins over the quantity but there are plenty of weekly stops that are a huge deal to win along with the majors.

  4. That time of year again at my club. The big push for getting new members signed up.This time around they are offering us referral discounts and prizes.Just about every potential referral  I had has something negative to say about golf. The million excuses why they won’t join or take up golf. Why is this game such a hard sell for introducing new people to the game?

Because golf is an outdoor, sometimes fairly expensive, long term commitment and we’re in a culture that wants instant gratification for minimal effort.

  5. Whew, that looks sharp!!! I've been getting kinda curious myself... Did you find it difficult to get it the way you wanted?

Had an issue with the colors bleeding together at first but otherwise it went very smoothly.

  6. Howdy again Y’all! I’ve been away for a bit but I’m back, reenergized and ready to talk golf again. Feels good to be back with my spies!

  7. Interlocking from day one. For a time I even putted like that. Never had a need to switch. Funny enough I’m a minority in my area with most the people around here using a version of the interlock.

Only a million different ways to swing the club right?

  8. I actually went back and read some of the posts from 2010, I joined somewhere around 2011-2012 I think. So it was cool to read posts from a few folks that aren’t around anymore

Pretty sure I remember that one, I wanna say I still use the same mark but might have to go back and look. Could be interesting...

  9. I’m using the 7S and after a period of adapting from a blade to the mallet style it’s worked really well for me. I put a SuperStroke pistol gt grip on it and now it’s one of my favorite putters all time. Like how pure it rolls the ball even on bumpier surfaces.

  10. I’ve had the rogue sub zero for a little while now and haven’t had any problems with it, all around solid club for me where you get out what you put in it. I’ll shape the driver to keep one side or the other out of play and it’s been as reliable as I can ask for. It won’t however (for me at least) cure a bad swing, you put a hook swing on it and that ball will hook same for a slice. I don’t know that I mind that too much though...

  11. I’m one of those guys you were talking about that plays the 50 54 58 setup but that fits my set makeup with a 46* wedge up the 22* 4-iron. Short game is my strongpoint but that’s from a combination of hitting tons of shots and no high school social life. There may be better setup options for me but I know these clubs well enough to where I don’t know that I wanna look for them lol.

  12. After long last, late last week I finally took delivery of something very, very special that I'd like to share with you all.
Way back about 8-9 months ago, I was futzing around on-line one Friday and got a notice that MGS was "going live" with a "closest-to-the-pin" contest on their YouTube channel.
[/url] Curious, I tuned in to watch Adam and crew at MGS HQ preparing to see who could get closest to the hole on the simulated floating green (#14) at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. They were asking viewers to participate and submit their guesses for the closest shots in order to win some prizes. I believed I simply typed in 5' and sat back to watch the fun. I really didn't pay too close attention to the successful shots, but more enjoyed watching these guys make their attempts in a variety of ways.
A few days later, I get an email from Adam stating that I had indeed won the grand prize...A custom wedge from the Wedge Wizard himself!!! I was absolutely floored! Not long after, I was in contact with Jacob (the Wiz) and we discussed model, options, design and all the good stuff that goes along with a "blank check" like this opportunity and off we went. Long story short, and after some unforeseen delays and hiccups, this is what I was presented with...

She's a PING Glide Forged and as you can see in 60* with 8* of effective bounce. Her transmission is an Alta CB 83g graphite mid-launch shaft paired up with a Dyla Wedge grip making for a D5 swing weight. Jacob actually included a nice hat & tee shirt from his shop as well which are super cool!
Wall hanger? NO. I actually swapped out my Glide 2.0 58* with it because I just had to play with it yesterday and what can I say...She is AWESOME! Butter smooth and did everything a hacker like me could ask of it. I had a bunker shot facing me after my tee shot came up short at the par-3 8th. My ball was lying on the flat and with a fairly clean lie, but the bunker was below the hole with a pretty sizable lip on it that is kind of like a hump. I only had maybe 20' to the pin and some green to work with behind it should it go long. I lined up and reminded myself to follow-through and actually executed the shot correctly. The ball popped up, landed just beyond the lip and rolled out to about 5' away from the cup. Made the par. Made a few other shots with it that were just off the green and wow did she ever perform! Are you reading about the next Seve or Phillip? Heck no! But what a club!!!
    Thank-you so much to
@golfspy X, MGS and Jacob "The Wedge Wizard" himself for making this happen and giving me a unique and truly awesome stick! For curious (or the sick), below is a link to Jacob's website. He does fantastic work and is one Hell of nice fella to work with if you are looking for custom work. Cheers all and thanks for viewing!

Congratulations my friend! That’s a slick setup! Hard not to see shots going in with it.

  13. Been playing the original PTx release since they came out a few years ago. I’ve played well with them and not so well with them at times too but it was always a case of “indian not arrow” flaw. If they perform like the original release then they’ll be a winner. Not 100% sold on some of the aesthetic changes but those could grow on me just like other equipment has many times over. Just good to see Hogan turning out new gear.
