I can't wait t test some of these theories. I have a putter fitting at Club Champion on Saturday (in Calgary, Alberta, Canada). I'm going in with an open mind although I do have a few brands and model that I prefer.

When talking to them on the phone, they seemed very honest. The person I talked to insisted on telling me that the most important part of the fitting was getting to know my numbers. They use Quintic for their putter fitting.

Here's to hoping I can become a better putter...

Only 2 fittings in my life.

Golftown with a Mizuno rep for irons. So of course I tried their clubs only but after 1 hour and multiple heads and shafts, we found something that worked. Then I compared the numbers I got and tried other brands. He was not pushy at all and it was a good experience. That was 5 years ago and it was free.

At a golf course with a Callaway rep. Tried their driver and was not happy with the numbers. But I also tried their putters and that was a joke of a fitting! He looked at me putt and tried to sell me the most expensive Odyssey. And this is after telling me that the alignment aid was better on a cheaper model... His only reason for pushing the most expensive one was that it looked great!

So you definitely need to do your hmework before you go.

I started playing when I was 11 years old. None of my friends played at the time so it was always with my parents.
I loved the game then and I still do to this day.

I also love competing and do get a little mad when I play bad but because you're playing with friends and strangers (sometimes), I find a way to find pleasure even on bad days.

In order to keep it interesting, a few of the guys have a 1$ match play going on every day. So if you mess up on hole 1 (and sometimes 2-3-4 more holes), you have something else to play for on top of the exercise!

Extensive testing on LAB putters and Odyssey AI as well. Comparing the 2.

What to look for in a putter fitting.

DTC vs Srixon and Mizuno. Which is the most forgiving. ZX5, Pro 225, etc.

Steel vs graphite shafts. For weight and accuracy mostly. I know the good graphite shafts are expensive but my next set will hopefully stay in my bag for a while...

    Thanks!

Well Javelins, it's your Hatton vs my Rahm. I'm going to need some help to pass you in the GOLFSPY_BOS DIVISION.

    Good luck!

Long bunker shots near the green and you have to fly it over the sand for 10 yards. If you combine that with being short sided to the green, I just keep swearing repeatedly in my head until I'm out of the bunker...

My home course has 2 bunkers like that on par 3 and that's where I've ruined many rounds!

Fried egg lie from a downhill lie in a greenside bunker - with water on the other side of the green.

Definitely interested! Especially since I didn't do any hockey pool this year, I've got withdrawals symptoms...

Definitely interested! As was mentioned before, their Costco's return policy is amazing, so you buy a set, go to the range and try them for a while. If the results are good and you're in the market for irons, you probably just saved quite a bit of money.

I usually change my irons every 5 years and I'm on year 3 with my Mizuno irons, so I will have a chance to read all the reviews and hopefully they are still making irons in 2-3 years...

I had a 4 wheel sun mountain and the bag sat pretty low so the tires would rub against the bag (maybe I have too much clothing in there but in Alberta you often experience all 4 sasons in one day so it's necessary). That was making it harder to push.

The 3 wheel that I have now doesn't rub against the bag becuse the bag sits above the front tire. And it is a little bit easier to maneuver but that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I have a Ping Pioneer bag, not even that big of a bag by the way.

    Hi,

I would play the best ball at the best price. The Srixon z-star was on sale in Canada last week at half price. 28$ for a dozen, that's hard to beat for a premium ball. And I'm sure wherever you are that you can find theses kind of deals once in a while. The Costco option is definitely a good one too. I'm a decent player (8.8 index) and I refuse to pay 65$/dozen (in Canada) for Titleist balls.
I didn't read al the comments so hopefully this hasn't been said before...
