Hi everyone, very much looking forward to conversing with the groups, my quick responses to the initial forum questions are below:
How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing golf since 1993, my current handicap is +1 (on a good day)
What do you love about golf? I love everything about the game, the challenge (and the frustration), more so the time I get to spend outside with friends and fellow competitors!
What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Have been following MyGolfSpy for several years and wanted to join the crew and chat about everything golf!
Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm from England originally but have been living in the states since 1998 when I came over to play collegiate golf at Clemson (Tigers all the WAY). My home course in England is the Belfry and my course here is Sedgefield Country Club.
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best is the number of courses to play, worst is the depressing humidity during the summer months!
What do you do for a living? I am a VP of E-Commerce for 4 furniture companies
How’d you pick your user name? It's a name I have had since college......very long story!

Heading to chip and putt before tonight’s service - hit lots of shots on the range yesterday afternoon. Mainly 7 irons - hit numerous good ones.

Went to one of the Nets to hit a few shots and get in some short work. Somethings wrong! Everything felt good, too good. 7iron looked OK and PW/GW on practice green.
    Warm but humidity was bearable.

Had an online session last night to review some of the stats from recent rounds.  Things that stand out as areas for improvement:  short game and lag (30'+) putting.    Distance proximity from the hole on approach shots isn't bad.  Obviously, more greens would be better,  but to get my scoring average down to 75,  I need to work on the two previously mentioned areas.   Got a couple of drills and thoughts to work on with short game shots.   Hoping the ExPutt helps me learn to control speed a little bit better.  We talked about ball contact and flight and confirmed that what I am trying to do to fix is on the right track.   Have some metrics to start looking at so I can do some self evaluation to make sure I am targeting the right areas and meeting expected efficiency from various distances and lies.
While most of of think we understand how to play this game,  there is so much to learn to consistently play this game well.   Hitting good tee and approach shots, having a functional short game, and decent putting are important,  understanding the environment (wind, temperature, moisture, etc) are key to success week in and week out.
Moving in the right direction and building a plan to keep moving forward.

Word of caution, do not do this with foam balls and hit them into your white curtains..... my wife didn’t like the random marker spots all over the living room curtains lol.

Don't do anything out of the ordinary. The pocket is really small so there really is nothing to fill.

Recently I was able to purchase a set of Corey Paul Functional Art wedge heads on EBay.  The wedge heads are forged of 1025 steel in a raw brushed black finish with some minimal stamping and understated paint fill.  They are 52, 56 and 60 degree heads.
This is my first time building clubs by myself.  Decided to pair the wedge heads with some BB&F ferrules, KBS Tour V wedge shafts and SuperStroke Traxion tour grips.  Kept the color scheme of black, red, white and silver throughout.
Very happy with the way they turned out and I’m excited to take them to the course tomorrow to try them out.

there is one facet of this club that I just don't touch on as much as I should, and thats the V-Soles. One of my old standards to my swing was that I was a "digger". I would flat out peel the carpet up, and hit a lot of "fat" shots.
Now, (and it started with the PtxPro set) I rarely even take much more than a small piece. Often, its not much more that some ruffled grass. And I think its kind of training me as we go, too. Face contact improves, and obviously so do the shots. Im still not an Iron master, but I feel much more confident now. I actually try to target the 110-140 yd range, so I get to hit one of the Icons, with its skinny little V=Sole. SO Good..

Golf is hard. I would suggest leveraging whatever skills you have gained from your current job as several in the golf industry are actually clueless about finance and how it works. It sounds like you want to be intimately involved with the game itself and not corporate. I would suggest trying to strike a balance. Perhaps try and get a corporate job for a major manufacturer or golf company and then try and find a position that interests you. You may still be pushing numbers around a spreadsheet but hopefully you find it more meaningful. The ultimate goal is to take the first step towards opening doors in the golf industry. Golf fitting and anything related to direct consumer interaction is relatively low paying outside of being a superintendent, pro at larger course, or GM of a club. Going the corporate route may be a little soul sucking but it gives more hope to find decent pay and benefits. Most jobs in golf are just sales jobs, including fitters, pros, and GMs.
If you want to do something interesting, you could try partnering with a financial institution to start a golf club financing company. I hate debt but most Americans crave it. How about a whole new bag of clubs for only $50/month? I'm shocked financing isn't readily available for golf clubs like it is for everything else. When you get a big enough ball of debt, you securitize it, and it gets sold into the vastness of the retail debt market.

Hot and sunny which usually like, except I had to seal the driveway. My son came over so it went quick. Even mowed my lawn. I think he is getting excited. He and his wife close on the first home Aug 3rd.

At least in FL you can see them coming from miles away, in NE they lie in wait just over the mountain or ridge and sneak up on you when you’re playing well.
