  1. Lot of guys switching over to the Srixon's this year.  In that alone, they've had a huge success in their offerings!  One of the guys I play with frequently switched over to the 7's I believe (the more bladed style club) and he has said time and again they are the softest and most playable blade style clubs he's ever hit!
I don't know how accurate a statement that is, but if that's the case that's pretty big for him to say considering the number of great blades out there on the market!

I hope they have a great year. I am coming to them from Mizuno 919 and PXG 0311 T irons. For me the feel and look of the Srixons were better than both. The ZX7 irons were very soft but felt powerful. 2 years ago I would have bought them, but the wife and kids have added a couple stokes to the game. I liked a bit of help this time around if I am a bit off... lol

  2. Srixon has an amazing line up this year. I never thought going into my fittings that these would be my next clubsThey look and feel fantastic. I was leaning toward the Titleist T100 and Callaway Apex Pro 21 going into my fitting. Was going to do a blended set of ZX5 &7 but the look at the ball was not much different. Might as well take advantage of the little bit of help here and there with the ZX5 irons. IMG_2822.HEIC

  3. I love the fifteen clubs, geez.
My last cart bag also has fourteen full-length dividers PLUS a putter well.
My last set has fifteen clubs so it worked out really well.
Purists on these and other pages opined that I wasn't playing golf.
The club that STILL accepts my dues is a "Golf & Racquet Club," so possibly, I was playing tennis without even realizing it.
Now I go there to play cards.
Here's the good part: there are only thirteen clubs in a deck of cards so I'm finally in compliance.

Well said. When I play sanctioned tournaments I do pull out the 3w or the 2i depending on the course. I have 15 tennis racquets as well

  4. I'm heading to Phoenix in November for a convention the wife has, I'm tagging along to play golf in Arizona. I'm looking at 2 different courses, Cave Creek and Starfire. Any thoughts from anyone who has played these, or if you have better suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Starfire and Cave Creek should definitely be avoided. From downtown you could get to the Raven pretty easily and for a City course Aquila is the best of the group. Legacy is a good track as well, next door to the Raven. Papago has gone downhill a bit, not as nice as it once was Course wise. New clubhouse is nice and the practice facility.

  5. I believe Hogan started making putters in 1958 / 1959. My guess would be it is between 1960-1965 as far as the production year. Nice stick! Most Vintage Hogan’s go for $30-60 in the market. Not as sought after as old bullseyes. Cool piece, I like it

  6. Hey Partner...Good to see you pop in!
When I was in Phoenix in April, that was one that got a lot of talk from locals as being one of the best in the area and the price beat all the resort prices.

Papago has gone down hill a bit. The new clubhouse and restaurant is top notch, but course conditions have suffered. Pretty dry and worn, at least 2 months back. Good layout though

  7. Must play would be the mentioned Troon North and Quintero. The 2 Verrado Courses in Buckeye are great Founders and Victory, I prefer the Founders But #18 at the Victory is the best hole. Southern Dunes is great as well. Boulders is nice a nice resort course with some beautiful scenery. A few other good options are Grayhawk, Sun Ridge Canyon, Whirlwind, Raven, Gold Canyon, Rio Verde Golf and Social Club, and Wickenburg Ranch.

  8. I have played them all multiple times. If it is a guys trip for fun you will have a blast at talking stick. The course is average but the casino next door is a great place to hang out and Top Golf is a block away. GC of Estrella is a great track, the Pointe is fun and has some good holes and views of the city. Dove Valley is nice with some good holes, Rancho Manana is a bit quirky at times but has some good views as well, short course. I would probably drop Rancho Manana. For the price of the TPC you could play Troon North, way better course. The TPC is fun just play where the pros play, but Troon North is the top dog. Check the over-seed schedules, courses out here begin to close mid September to October. I know the Pointe was late September last year as well as One of the Talking Stick Courses. The Verrado Victory and Founders courses in Buckeye are great as well as Quintero out by Lake Pleasant. Something to check out. Any questions let me know. Enjoy the trip!

  9. I think some course reviews would be fun and interesting. We have members all over and would be interesting to see the different courses we all play throughout the country. Would be great to see pictures and the scenery different parts of the country and world provide from a “average” persons perspective. Would be great for people who travel to golf to find and hidden gems or to stay away from any courses that disappoint. Kind of our own “worlds best” for golf courses. I think it would be fun and interesting. I would be happy to provide reviews on our courses in AZ. Just a thought I had.

  10. Jumped back into this this evening. Here are the washers, now epoxied into place (with my driver head next to them for perspective).

After these set, I'll grip them. The other modification that I'm considering is something to cushion the weights in the inevitable circumstance of hitting the ground. My thought now: a small section of pool noodle. The downside would be a small increase in wind resistance. Another possibility is PlastiDip.

I know it may sound funny, but I think coating the washers with that Flex Seal would work well. With the left over you can build a boat out of your screen door 🤪 just kidding, had to throw that in there.
I will be really interested in how these workout. Keep up the good work!

  11. I remember a few of the good ones, but mostly I remember the last hole. I was even par going into 18, shorter par 5 dogleg right 511 yards. Hit a great tee shot down the right of the Fairway. Had 200 yards on the dot to the green, water short right of the green and wrapped around to the back. Of course it is in my head that a birdie and I shoot 71. Proceed to hit a fat sliced 4 iron into the water short right, easily my worse shot of the day. End up getting a 6 and shooting 73. Still my best round, but it could have been so much sweeter to finish even or 1 under.
