Full writeup to come (probably tomorrow, when I've gotten a night's sleep), but the short version: Kirke shot a really solid round of golf and claimed his first ever tournament championship!

After 5 days playing with @fixyurdivot and @Thin2win in Spokane, my wife and I came home on Sunday and played 18 holes at our muni just to get reacquainted with the type of grass.  We were paired with another couple that my wife plays this week in her ladies league match play.  Can't lie... she was pretty good.  Getting to the green, I would say they are about even but that lady is a longer hitter.  However, on the green she is a better, more consistent putter.  Could be close if my wife putts a little better.
I drove the ball OK, but my woes continue off the fairway.  Missed a lot of greens, but made up for it with 26 putts... yes... 26!!  It was good to be home on familiar greens.  Shot 82.

Played a sort of new course for me on Sunday.
    https://www.lonsdalelinks.com.au/cms/course/hole-1/

The course has been redesigned since I last played it, with a new 9 and significant chances to the original 9.
For some reason they decided to have “signature “ rectangular greens. Personally, I don’t think this adds anything but doesn’t detract either. Lots of severe slopes and ridges on the greens, and pretty much impossible to run the ball onto lots of greens which is a little strange as it’s supposed to be a links style.
Anyway, to the golf. Started with a birdie after a poor second caught the slope and rolled down to about 10 feet. A good start but then went backwards. Lost my swing for a few holes, drove poorly. Greens were very dewy which made it hard to judge speed.
A lack of familiarity with the course probably didn’t help my game, really uncertain where to hit it on a few holes.
Conditions we’re very calm which is a rarity for this course, it could get very tough when the wind is up.
Finished 13 over, which was a little disappointing but not too bad for a first time playing there. Highlight was a 5 iron to 10 feet from 175 yards. Swing and setup changes are starting to feel more normal

Try 32° Cool long sleeve shirts; several different colors, UV protection and they do keep me cool down here in Florida.

So I’ve been working at this for over 3 years. When I started my driver swing speed was mid 80’s. Slowly but surely it’s been coming up.  It made its way into the 90’s and stayed in the low 90’s until last fall when I started doing PT.

Today I hit three straight drives with a rapsodo measured SS of 100 mph.

I also hit a bunch of driver/GW combos as that will be my most likely combo on the first hole tomorrow in league.

I also hit a few 7 irons and then 3 gorgeous 7 woods at a flag that was 187 - all of them rolled out past that flag.

Ended with 5 or 6 54 degree wedges and then went to putt for a bit.

Until last year I never knew you could get a heated steering wheel.  What a luxury!!!  Love that thing!  I’ll never do without it again.
Thanks for making them better every year!

... We have "heated steering wheels" right now in Phoenix. 107* today and my steering wheel will be plenty heated after my round of golf. 🤣

We have a tech retiring end of the year. Nothing technical by any means but just the knowledge of 35 years in a job is irreplaceable. We have someone coming on board in July to train for the 5/6 months before he leaves. Better than nothing. Its knowledge thats not replaceable.

I'd recommend having a golf instructor look at his swing.   While a ball may have some influence, it's more likely his swing that is the major contributing factor.  Angle of attack, effective dynamic loft, and other variables will have much more influence on trajectory than what ball he's using.

An old, blind Marine wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake. He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels. After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, 'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?' The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, 'Before you tell that joke I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things: 1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat. 2. The bouncer is a blonde girl. 3. I'm a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate. 4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weight lifter. 5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler. Now, think about it seriously, do you still wanna tell that blonde joke?' The blind Marine thinks for a second, shakes his head and mutters, 'No...not if I'm gonna have to explain it five times.'

Story has it that at Inverness in Denver (a resort course) they had big problems with geese.  One day a couple of large trucks showed with along with large nets.
A crew went around the course capturing the geese and bringing them back to the trucks.  Later on the homeless in Denver were fed a nice meal.
I cannot verify this story but did notice a lack of geese last time I played there 👌

We went to the big island 3 years ago, liked Kauai much better.  It’s still pretty quiet, at from my viewpoint. I’m sure the locals would disagree.
We took a kayak up the Wailua to go see the falls.  Doubt we do that again!  The wind was against us coming and going. 😓

I realize not everyone can make trips like this and until a couple of years ago I wasn’t able to afford it myself.  Age does bring some benefits along with the normal aches and pains 😏

Just back from 10 days in Kauai.  Ah, to be able to travel again is a joy even though wearing a mask on the plane was bothersome. Plus jumping through Hawaii’s COVID hoops.  I get it though.
White legs now have a little color on them (not sunburn red) and was able to play a round at Kiahuna Golf Club.  Helicopter rides and boat trips up the Napali coast made for a wonderful trip.  We really enjoyed Kauai.
The credit card is white hot but it will cool down soon.  With my wife’s health we have to make hay while the sun is shining. May not be able to do this in the not-to-distance future.
