I finally figured it out, not my issue with the grips, but what they remind me of. It’s Kylo Ren’s helmet.💡
I couldn’t think of it for this whole time.

Thanks to My Golf Spy and Lamkin for the chance to participate. My name is Stacey, yes I’m a dude, and no my mom does not in fact have it going on to my knowledge. I mean she is great, but the song does not apply to us.

So a lot about me, I am 39 years old and hail from the state of Missouri, just outside Springfield to be specific. I'm currently building my house while living in it. It is located at the end of a dead end road on 60 acres and that’s the way I like it, secluded.

I am outdoors all the time, I hike a lot, bow hunt, and keep in shape for my once a year trip to Colorado to go chase elk in the mountains. To say I’m an outdoorsman might be too fancy for me, I’ve dubbed the term “woodrat” to describe myself. I work as a regional sales rep for a brewery. My proudest achievement is my two children, they tag along with me often to play and are starting to wail on the clubs themselves.

I have been playing golf for 15 years or so with a recent 5 year layoff due to some serious back pain, but now I’ve returned and am playing the best golf of my life. My game has transformed and the parts that were my strength are now my weakness and vice versa. I am not the longest hitter in the game but can poke it out there sometimes.

My course management and mental game are my strengths by far, I think it comes with age and never thinking I would play the game again. I even walk with a bit of laid back swagger. (Think Jason Dufner meets Fred Couples) I am currently gearing up for my first ever stroke play tournament. I hope these grips make the cut and can join me in the journey.

If you are curious about how grips will hold up to moisture, stay tuned for my review as I will be the ultimate test for these grips. I have a condition called hyperhidrosis. It basically means I sweat.. A LOT! Specifically my hands sweat abnormal amounts compared to the rest of my body, which also sweats..A LOT! As I type this indoors in the a/c I have to keep a bandana on me to dry my hands periodically. I exclusively wear rain gloves and keep 3-4 attached to my bag and rotate them every shot.

So Lamkin is in for a ride and we shall see how these hold up. I assure you, if they hold up to me they will hold up to you. I currently use another Lamkin grip called the crossline plus.

Luckily these grips have the same specs. I will be installing my own with air and will also be something I am reviewing. I have used several completely different styles of grips over the years, but my favorite feeling grip of all time was the Winn Dri Tac wrap. I have been searching for a grip that feels like that but lasts longer than a week. I hope Lamkin can deliver on their claims of “feel” regarding this grip. One other thing I am specifically honing in on with these grips is at the transition from the top of the backswing to impact. I really have trouble gripping the club too tight at that transition, I’m hoping a tackier grip can aid in that. I think these grips will make the bag if can maintain that tacky feeling and not get slick, that’s my biggest pet peeve is when a grip wears and becomes slick. So buckle up and stay tuned and let’s see what we can find out.
    -Sprinkler Hands

Initial Impressions 8 out of 10
I usually gravitate towards a clean, no fuss grip. Bright colors and patterns are not for me and I find them to be distracting. I do not like the way they look in my bag to others either which I realize is ostentatious. So when I opened the box today, I half expected me to be disappointed in these. I have looked at these online when shopping for new grips, and before the all black version was released I immediately dismissed them as the blue was just too much for me to stomach and assumed this version was only slightly less gaudy. I was wrong.

    Looks
In-hand, these things are stunning! They do have an almost gloss finish on them but not to the point of being distracting, just enough to make them look high end. The pattern is subtle and blends in with the rest of the grip and are almost invisible when you hold the club at address. This is of course not taking into account the small white pattern in the center of the grip. It is almost too much out of the box, but again at address, it doesn’t become distracting or serve as a strict alignment aid. You can use it as that if that’s how one lines their club up. I do not like to see any alignment aids on my grips and this was my biggest concern with these. But once installed and looking down I was able to move past that very quickly and resume my normal grip alignment. The patterns really hide amongst the rest of the grip and the white pattern almost disappears when you set your leading hand on the grip and my thumb lands perfectly on it. These make my Nike’s look gooood

    Feel
In my hand, uninstalled I would put these in a medium-firm feeling grip. Compared to my crossline plus (velvet style) these are a bit firmer to me. I was expecting something totally different in this category. I really thought they would be very soft and resemble something like a GP CP2 pro grip. They feel firmer than that however and much firmer than the Winn dri-tac I had envisioned. I don’t mind a firm grip, my concerns are how they will hold up to my level of moisture. They have an almost slick feel to them out of the box, once installed they still have a bit of a slick feel while not wearing gloves (remember my sweaty hands). I was finally able to dry my hands enough to get a good idea of how these feel. They have a nice tacky feel to them. It’s an almost corded tackiness as well with the design of the grip. It’s very nice. I am interested to see how they fare in the humidity on the course.

    Quality/Consistency
I weighed each grip on my scale and found they are in a reasonable range. It never varied over 1.5 grams from the heaviest to the lightest. Every grip I’ve ever put on has approximately this range. The advertised weight was 57 grams and all grips weighed slightly more than that, the heaviest being 58.5 grams and the lightest being 57.1

I really enjoyed testing these grips and the overall testing process. I am thankful for the opportunity provided by all involved and I hope to participate in more in the future.

Well, this was definitely a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tale for my test. There were points along the way that I never wanted to swing another grip and other times I wanted to rip them off and never use them again. So let's explore that shall we...
    Aesthetics: 10/10
Ok, so I initially said there was no grip that could achieve a perfect score as it is subjective… I threw that idea out the window. These grips look incredible! They look very high end, classy, clean, and make your clubs stand out without being too loud. They say something without saying it. I think if I saw these on a competitor's clubs I would immediately think they were a good player. I personally don’t like bold colors, and wacky designs on my grips. I prefer straight, black, clean looking grips, but these went beyond that.

     Fit and Feel: 18/20
I’ve always preferred a less tapered and midsize grip so there isn’t much else about the fit to score. I deducted only 2 for the installation process, where the grips were a little flimsy to put on with air but they did not prove much extra trouble. If they would have been less flimsy they would have been less soft and tacky anyways. I have a lot of extra grips laying around and for this test I put them all on and at least took some practice swings  with them to get a feel for the grips. I made sure my hands were dry and they all had the same conditions. I couldn’t find one grip better than these in the feel department, even the Winn Dri Tac wrap grip which was always my favorite feeling grip lost to these. They have a firm yet soft feel? The fingerprint tech almost acts like a cord while the soft material feels like it sticks to your hand. It is very unique and I think there is something there that can improve a lot of golfer’s stranglehold on their clubs while not having to go full corded grip.
     On the course: 5/20
Ok, here’s where we start to see the problems that arose for me. If you haven’t read my intro please do so. It will help you better understand the issues I had with these grips. I deducted half the points due to my copious amounts of sweat which caused the grips to act like a bar of soap in my hands. My circumstance is extreme and shouldn’t be necessarily used for you the consumer to judge the grips performance. You will be better off to judge the grips based on another tester's experience. The humidity was to levels I have not seen before and other grips also got slick, but for whatever reason, these grips were the worst for my level of sweat. Again, I am an anomaly, but it is the truth and couldn’t even swing these grips bare handed with everything going on. Even with rain gloves on both hands I still never felt 100% confidence in them.

The Good, the bad, and the in-between: 15/20
You may  be thinking this is too high of a score given the last couple lines in the previous section. But I also have to take into consideration my condition and work around it and in it and everything else. The truth is, no grip performs perfect when conditions are that bad for me, yes, corded grips seem to perform the best and softer grips less so, but they all have issues when covered in oily, gross sweat. I think back during this test to two specific times I was using them, once in the late evening on my property while the sun was setting and the humidity had dropped substantially. I was able to go out with my wedge and hit a bucket of balls on less than full swing shots and I was able to feel all these grips had to offer and I loved it. The swing felt effortless and in complete control. This was due to the grip alone. My initial thoughts about the test was based around this one section of my swing, the transition from the top of my back swing to the downswing. I tend to grip the club too tight during rounds and never feel like I can relax through that move. These grips allowed me to do that and not have to think about it either. That alone gave me a glimmer of hope to what these grips can provide and I loved it. Another time was chipping after a round and the same scenario, low humidity and dry hands. Same experience, just effortless comfort.
Play it or Trade it: 10/20
So I am taking these grips off…. For the moment. I am going to let the humidity drop and revisit them in the fall. For all I know these could be a seasonal grip for me, they have the same exact specs as my gamers and the brief time I got to experience their potential left me wanting more. I will repost on this page so if you’re interested in seeing how it shakes out, check back in here. I think it will be a completely different outcome.

So in closing, do I recommend these grips to you? Yes, absolutely yes! Try them, you will be pleasantly surprised at the unique feel and responsiveness of the grips. I could, however, not game them at this very moment. I did however, play in my first tournament and shot a great 75(+5) round with them. Hard to complain about that. They are also the most stunning grips I’ve ever seen and as I’ve said before, that is not a statement I’ve made in the past. They made me want to build an all black set with heads and shafts to match. If anyone does this, show me! It would be the single best looking set of irons ever! I also liked the feel so much I purchased a matching (ping version) of the putter grip. I look forward to the fall and my chance to dig deep into them again. I’m considering this test ongoing and looking forward to part two. So, if we are counting (and we are) that totals up, along with initial impressions to….. (drum roll please)

    Total Score: 76/100

I signed up for my first tournament, not including drunken scrambles (I’ve played in a ton of those). This is our city championship and gets some real players entered. it’s played over two days on two different courses. I’m not expecting to compete but obviously want to play my best and they do have flights. How do you tournament golfers get ready for the big dance? Anything I can do other than what I do now? I play almost everyday and shoot consistently around a couple over par and shoot par here and there. I almost always play solo, so I know I need to play with others as much as possible. One of the courses is a dog track and not the most difficult, the other is a much bigger, better course that resembles more of a tournament course. I grew up playing all sports but golf so I understand to a certain extent about “game time” and nerves, just been awhile and never golf. Let me know if you do anything that I may not be thinking of. Cheers

Being in and around golf for my job, and helping my students improve their games, I decided I wanted to start playing competitive golf.  I hadn’t ever played in a tournament solo before and as I’ve gotten older I wanted something to stay competitive with.  I miss the days of setting goals and getting after it.
So I had to start somewhere.  I decided to do a one day local PGA event (not the Tour, people always get that confused, the actual PGA of America organization).  I registered for and played in my chapter’s championship.
I hadn’t played in over a month and had a small medical procedure about a week and a half before the event (dads might catch my drift here), but I still wanted to give it a go.  I had never played the course either.
The format was modified Stableford and I was in the last tee time of the day.  Hole number one, I’m off the tee first and I could feel some nerves.  I went through my pre-shot routine (so important to have) and piped one 300yds right down the middle.  Couldn’t ask for a better start.  Then I’ve got about 175yds to the flag, and cold topped my 7iron lol!  Talk about a let down.
From there I made bogey to start the round.  Long story short, I finished T-17 out of 45 players.  I had quite a few putts including an eagle and two birdies that missed on the lip.  I had the most horrible plugged bunker lie I’ve ever seen before that killed my momentum on the back nine and a few other ups and downs.
All that and I broke 80 in a legit tournament.  There were lots of positives to take away.  Some areas of improvement will be to play a bit more aggressive at times (I played too conservative with some approach shots), and I had 38 putts…. Yeah….  Let’s just say the green speeds were not the same as the practice green. Lol
I signed up for the Match Play event as well, so we see how that goes when we get our first matchups announced!

Shot a 1 over 37 on a quick 9(walking) I could squeeze in late as the sun was setting. It started to monsoon on me about the 8th hole, had to duck under some trees for a bit. I started out bogey bogey, I drove all day yesterday and jumped out of the truck and played so I think my body was getting a little unwound. Missed a 2.5-3 ft putt on the 9th par 3, which was infuriating. Game is coming along nicely, I’ve really started to swing through the ball and release it much later than in the past. I’ve picked up a lot of yardage and consistency. I also navigate the course differently now and feel like I’m in attack mode as opposed to timidly playing.✌️

Thank you for posting this; I'll be very interested in seeing what kind of answers you get.  I myself can only offer input on the "what not to do" front, having signed up for 2 club championships at two different clubs in the past few years, and played terribly in both.  I can tell you not to spend time grinding away leading up to it, and to do what you can to make the tournament as low stress, casual, and routine as you can.  If you put too much emphasis on it, it's a loud message to your body that "this is different, this is special" and you're more likely to activate the nerves, anxiety, and "flight" (versus fight) responses in your body that you don't want.  If you have access to Jon Sherman's "The Four Foundations of Golf" he has some excellent content on how to prep for tournaments, and I believe "The Sweet Spot" podcast with Sherman and Adam Young also has a few episodes dedicated to this that are worth checking out.
    My two cents...

Played in a few club championships at my home course.  Take your time, aim for good safe spots around the course (no flag hunting on those 200 yard approaches!), and enjoy the experience.  Took me quite a few years but I finally won our club championship last year when I found that happy medium of focusing on each shot but also having fun.  Avoid the double bogeys and you'll be surprised at your results!

For golf, you say you want to compete - what does that look like? How are you going to get there?
I would make a game plan. Take each hole upcoming and work back from the green to the tee. Make thorough notes and refer to them on the course. It may help you to keep focused when the mind wanders...and it will during the tournament. Especially with rounds of 5 hours or so. It also gives you something concrete to follow. You made the notes with a clear head, now go out and follow the game plan. Best of luck to you.

I've played a lot of tournament golf.  I wish that I had this advice first!  Just great, great advice.  Have fun or else it's not worth doing it.

These things are fun by the way, if you are a person who wants to stretch his game out and take it to the next level.  Since you've already entered I would echo what Getoffmylawn said - don't over do it.  Normal is a very key strategy - if you normally practice once a week and play twice, do that.  On the day of the tournament be sure to sleep well the night prior, stay hydrated, eat the proper foods before arrival, have a snack on hand and follow your normal pre round routine.  Be sure to know the courses that you are playing, have a game plan for each and follow it.

If you think you want to do more of this you will need to find a way to play competitive golf far more often than a city championship.  Golf leagues are good because they make you play with lots of different people, often by the rules of golf and they will put a little stress on your game - plus they are fun.  Better would be a Men's Association at a club or just about any course that I've ever played at has "that" group of competitive guys that play a weekly game for money - those are tons and tons of fun, that was how I started honing my game towards a championship level taking it to between a 1 and 2.  I had the lowest handicap in my league three year's running often playing to a 0 for league play.

I did that because I had........  fun.

Best wishes, enjoy the tournament and let us know how you do.

During my round, I worked on applying some of the tips that I got from Guerin Rife on putting. Initial feedback is that the tips will be very helpful and it was very kind of him to take time to help me with my putting stroke.

Some of the the drills are as follows (remember I miss left on putts):

Putt with two balls side by side and get them to roll side by side. When I first did this drill, the right ball was going further. Can fix with ball position or path change.

Move the ball up in stance and address ball normally. Should leave about inch or so gap between putter and ball. Putting this way will help reduce rotation. And help square the face at impact.

The one I like best which I apply during the round is to pick a spot right in front of the ball and make a stroke that has the center of the putter go over that spot. This really helped me with my shorter putts during the round. Guerin also told me this was good to do with full swing shots as well.

The short term effect i am seeing is better start line for my putts. Hopefully this turns into better reads as I get better at hitting my start-line.

We also talked about the need to keep the shaft vertical at setup. I did a pretty good job but he indicated that right eye dominant players have a tendency to lean the shaft backwards and led eye have a tendency to forward press. These tendencies sometimes result in inconsistent distance control due to incorrect
    Loft.

    Good morning,
I'm John from just North of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I work at a steel mill as a Pipefitter. I'm married and have a daughter that just finished up her first year of college.
I would like to thank MGS and Hack Moition for giving me the opportunity to test out, review and improve my struggling golf game!
I'm a late bloomer to golf at 45 years old as I had only played a couple of times until last year when I caught the golf bug and jumped in head first. Before that I was and still am a avid archer but archery has taken a back seat to golf. I used to practice archery every day and I would consider myself a scratch archer. So why is hitting a darn ball sitting still on the ground so hard? SMH.
I have a Gamin watch and also a Garmin R 10 that I practice with pretty much every day. I usually hit into a net out in my yard and try to play 18 holes at least once a week and also play 9 holes every Thursday in my local golf league. My handicap is around a 23 and has stayed there for a couple months now.
This is a example of how often I practice.  I probably practice to much. Lol
I'm hoping that the Hackmotion can give me some consistency to my game. The best parts of my game are my irons and my approach shot. I'm very inconsistent getting off the tee box and my putting has been horrendous. Some days I pull everything, some days are fairly straight and other days I slice and do all three. I hope that the drills they recommend will give me the skills to become a more proficient ball striker. Also I think it will also be great to see what I should be doing while putting. Here is a pretty good how example of how inconsistent I am.

The YouTube reviews that I have watched on the HackMoition have been very good so I'm extremely excited.
I'm looking forward to receiving the HackMoition so I can put It through its paces and give everyone a fair and honest review.
    HackMotion Final Review
    First Impressions 10/10
My first Impressions on the HackMoition were very positive. It was packaged in a nice high quality box and everything inside it had a spot so it wouldn't rattle around. All you needed to do to get started is to download the app and pair it to your phone through Bluetooth. The onboarding call that I received from Martins was professional and he went over the device with me and all of the features that it has.
    Aesthetics 20/20
Out of the box the Hackmotion censor reminds me of a smart watch. It is light weight and is lighter on the wrist then a Garmin S62 golf watch. It is very sleek and professionally made of high quality molded plastic.
Durability seems to be good and I would treat it like a expensive watch.
The device is easy to get up and running as it connects with the app very quickly.
As far as sizing goes it is a one size fits all approach with a elastic band for above your wrist and either a band or a glove clip for the lower part of the unit.
The unit would easily fit into your golf bag.
    The Numbers 15/20
When i started using the unit I was running right around a 23 handicap. I got it down to a 20.1 for a week and now i have relapsed a bit to a 21.9. I did notice that my shots were a bit straighter. As far as distance that didn't change at all because of better contact. I did notice that my consistency to ball striking in general has gotten better.
    Practice Makes 15/20
At first when i received the unit I couldn't wait to practice. I usually practice everyday anyway but this was something new to help me get better.
The Hackmotion was very easy to setup calibrate and get started. I ran through a bunch of the drills to get the feelings of what my wrists are supposed to be doing during the swing. My contact with the ball slowly got better even though I had trouble staying within the desired ranges that the device wants you to get into.
Lately it seems like a bit of a chore to practice with it. It seems like if I get the top of my swing in the desired range it is difficult for me to get into the proper range at impact. If I don't worry so much about the top of the swing and just focus on flexion at impact I make better contact with the ball.
Pitching practice at first was very strange as it wants you to get your lead wrist into a very cupped position. After watching videos on Hackmotion's YouTube there was a demonstration of why the wrist should be in that position and showed you how to make that shot.
The Good, The Bad , The In Between  15/20
The Hackmotion censor has had excellent battery life, fits my wrist and hands well, and is lighter then my normal watch.
It sets up easy and connects quickly with the app. It provides so many ranges of information it can be quite overwhelming unless you are a golf junky that knows your swing and the numers that go with it or if you are a coach geting baseline numbers for a new student.
The device for the most part works as it is supposed to. I did have some errors while putting with it and also while hitting the driver. When putting it was so sensitive that if you just tapped your putter on the ground without even hitting a shot it would register a shot that you would have to delete out. I also noticed while hitting a driver it didn't register a few shots. I'm not quite sure why it would be so sensitive when putting but would fail to register a shot while driving it.
As far as putting Practice goes I think it would be helpful if you are really wristy in your putting stroke but if you already have a good firm stroke with proper technique I'm not sure it would help you much.
Play it or Trade it 5/10
While I think this device is great I'm truly on the fence. It gives me so much information that I honestly really don't know what to do with all of it. I have been slowly figuring it out while watching and listening to all the information they have available on their website and YouTube. It is really cool to see your swing on a graph and comparing it to a pro but you have no idea how they got to those positions.
If your a coach or a seasoned golf nut looking to hone in on a particular part of your game then this is the device for you.
I couldn't justify the $1000 price tag myself for me to purchase unless I really knew what all the numbers meant and how to properly use them.
    Conclusion TL,DR
This device is will give you all the information you could possibly ask for as far as what your wrists and hands are doing though out the whole golf swing. It gives you ulnar/radial deviation, wrist flexion and extension and also rotation and even tempo of your golf swing. If your a intermediate Golfer like myself I think you could definitely go with the cheaper version and not the pro version. I didn't think the putting feature really helped me at all except for verifying that my putting stroke is not wristy.
You will also need to spend a ton of time going over Hackmotion's website and YouTube to get the most out of this device.
I think using the Hackmotion while with a coach would be the most beneficial for myself or for another intermediate golfer. The coach would be able to explain to you how to get into the proper positions in order to match up to the wealth of information the device gives you.
    Final Score 80/100
