I got bit today... by the double bogey bug. 4 today?!?  Hole 1 with one of my best drives immediately followed by chunky pitch, chip over the green, and two putt. I tried to block out the negative thoughts because they were strong. I grinded through the front with a 44. I thought I was headed for an 87/88 round, but I kept fighting on the back and put together a decent round.
83 - 44/39 - 10 FIR - 9 GIR - 32 putts - 11 chips - 2 penalties
I was trying to be a hero today. Instead of taking my medicine and punching out, I tried some hero shots. A few chips could have been closer but overall I like the direction my game is trending. Sub 80 is out there and I'm really close. Today I had fun with friends and left feeling grateful that I get to play golf.

@Mtbryant01 and I have both used Neil Thompson. I did a few lessons with a guy who is no longer teaching under him. He used to teach at Oxmoor but RTJ execs cut all independent contractor (including teaching pros) Jan 1 2021. Dumb move on their part in my opinion. He's at Timberline, Heatherwood, and Ballantrae now.
I was sold on them because during my first lesson, as we talked about goals he said his philosophy is to not get you a perfect swing but a repeatable one because we can't/don't practice everyday. He said he could teach me to hit it further or work it both ways etc. but if we focus on ball striking and hit more greens, scores will go down. 

@RollingGreens - How have I missed this thread! I'm in the same situation. Baby coming in 8-9 weeks and I have a goal of breaking 80. Recently shot 86, 80, 83. I'm cautiously optimistic. Switched to left hand low for putting and my confidence is back with my putter.

I think it would be interesting to see multiple grips tested. Think Most Wanted Drivers but for grips. The data might not show anything significant but maybe there is a grip that results in strokes gained. It would be expensive and very time consuming but grips are a piece of equipment that golfers change somewhat frequently.

We've done one, maybe two that I recall.  Know the GP Align for sure.
They were very challenging to get good info on as you mentioned they are vey personal in a lot of ways.  But like all tests, i believe there was some info that came out of it that may have helped at least a few people

I had a really good round going through 9. My goal is to break 80 before my daughter is born in about a month. I thought I was going to do it but had 2 late blow up holes which totally took me out. One of the holes has an elevated fairway that a good drive should hit the end of the fairway and roll down into a collection area for about 120 yard pitch. The tees were a little further back but I was hitting the ball well and long today, so I grabbed driver. Perfect drive but I saw it bounce twice before disappearing down the slope. I knew it was not long enough and I would have an atrocious lie. I stepped up and opened up a pitching wedge, swung and prayed. The ball came out low and fading, I got excited! No shank, and heading towards the green, I knew it didn't have enough but thought it might roll up to the fringe. It hit short, hoped sideways into a green side bunker. Okay not bad, get up and down and keep grinding. Well I got to the bunker and the ball was sitting up but too much. It felt like my ball was at knee level. It took me three swings before I got it out. Frustration continued to the next hole for a quad, triple, par, par finish. 
 
I practiced a few bunker shots before leaving but walked away with a smile that I gave it a good effort today and stayed focused for the most part. I've got probably 3-4 rounds left. I'm staying positive and confident that I can do it.

Everyone HATES Triples!!

Take the plunge. It's worth it if you find someone good. Get a pack of 4 lessons and spread them out over a few months. After your first one, you will probably play like crap because you are mixing old swing with new but eventually, you will pick up the right feel.
