That 3Wood is going to be buried with me. It was love at first sight

Whoa. Another club I am gonna have to try .. all you guys are so happy with it! If I have even half the success you've had ... I might actually start carrying a wood again; took it out earlier this season 'cuz I just can't stop myself from over-swinging/trying too hard and making those dreaded high fading hard/slicing shots.......

Update from this tester: I was really striping it down the fairway lately with Mizzy, I've closed the gap on driving distance with my golf partner. At beginning of season my driver had regressed to a 190 yard swooping slice. That I had no confidence whatsoever. With a slight adjustment and my trusty Mizuno, I was averaging 243 the other day. So now on average he has me by about 10-15 yards

I'm loving the 3 wood. The easiest thing to hit off the deck that I've had.

Driver I'm experimenting with gripping down 1". Seems to help a lot and no loss of distance, so I'll continue the experiment and probably cut it down.

Nice! Sure you already know but "fyi" in case, read somewhere that -1/2" off the shaft lightens the club by up to about -3 swing weights ... so check the balance after trimming and adjust as needed....

I've heard about the swing weight as well, but TBH, weight change doesn't bother me too much. If I have to, I can lead tape it.

I cut 1.25" off my R11. I took it to the range and kept swing and hitting adding 1" of lead tape to the head at a time. It was really interesting to feel the clubhead more with each addition of tape. I don't remember how much I added, just kept going until I didn't like the feel. Removed that one strip and viola!

I've had the 3 wood for while

It's a canon and has a surprising amount of forgiveness for a fairway wood - not as much as a driver of course, but still impressive.

Even though the distance is great, I find it does not have a solid feel (which is always subjective). It feels like you are hitting a hollow fairway wood.

That critique is pretty minor though. I actually don't use a 3-wood enough for it to be a big deal. Should maybe try out a formal 4 wood

Sorry to bump an old thread with a slightly off-topic question.

Does anyone have experience with the hybrid in this family? I found a good deal on one but can't figure out why it's so cheap.

I have not. If it's a good deal I'd jump on it. I still think the world of my 3W. In fact have been looking for a new hybrid myself

FWIW, I did a little digging and found some stuff on the hybrid.

They're high launching and top of the class in forgiveness but give up distance to get it. The big head makes them like a mini wood that can spin more to hold greens. They keep up with the rest of the class for the most part from the tee and fairway but lose pace with the field when it comes to shots out of the rough.

I've been trying to remember the past year+ of golf and think I've only had 1 shot total that required a hybrid out of the rough. Since that won't matter for my game, this might be a good club for me. I'm still on the prowl for a deal on a F7 hybrid since it's best all around so I'll give that the ole college try.

PS. Great reviews from all 3 of you. Seems like the Driver/Fairway combo was a good fit for each of you.

I enjoy when old review threads get bumped. Gives me info on something I might not have sought out. Plus we Get to know the reviewers a bit more.

Agreed. The coolest thing is seeing familiar names. I like reading reviews by people I know but didn't know they had even done a review. It's like "hey! I know that guy." Sometimes I'll read reviews based on the testers even if I'm not interested in the product just to see what the testers bring to the table.

Bending back to the discussion about the review format, having all 3 stages for each reviewer up front makes it much easier to browse. Even with links, it would be annoying to bounce around the thread to find all the pieces in chronological order.

I don't have one either, but the "normal" hybrid never really fit my eye and I wasn't too good hitting them off the deck. So, I got these "iron hybrids" and haven't looked back.

Bumping it again, but for a good relevant reason.  I want updates. I noticed the testers have moved on to other drivers, but 2 of you still bag the 3 wood.  Was it a difficult decision to ditch the driver?

I just got bought a JPX EZ driver from RBG for under $100 after a discount. I tend to have a low angle launch so I think this will be a good upgrade for my aged TM 360Ti. I found a Titleist 975J at a thrift store and tried it. Line drives no more than 10ft off the turf. I look forward to to getting my JPX EZ

I still was hitting my driver well, but I broke the shaft. I was in a pinch and needed a driver for an outing I was playing in. That’s the only reason it was shelved. I was super happy with it.

The 3 Wood is a different story, I plan on being buried with it.

I liked the JPX EZ driver and I'm sure you will too, but for me the sound was loud when hitting the ball. That wasn't the real reason I switched, I went through the True Golf Fit and was fit for a 9° degree driver, I now have the Cobra F9 driver and 3 wood and won't be switching anytime soon. I never fathom of playing a 9° degrees driver but I am getting longer drives and I also cut down my driver so now it's long and straighter. IMHO, the F9 3 wood cannot be compared with the JPX EZ 3 wood, the F9 is in another class in performance and looks, longer and just overall fun to hit
