Easonc23
Hello, I have a Taylormade 10.5 degree M4 driver on a Mitsubishi Chemical Red Tensei shaft with a .335 adjustable tip. That I've been using about one year. The head of my driver was perfectly fine and not loose at all, i had never adjusted this driver head before. I have picked up my swing speed where I now feel comfortable swinging at lower club head degrees, so i used the wrench and unscrewed the head, and moved it down a few notches. I noticed when untightening it, that it was rather difficult to remove and it almost felt overtightened or it was stuck there from never being removed before. Now, whenever i hit my driver the head gets slightly loose and i have to retighten it after every shot. Ive tried moving it back to the original degree, but the issue is still there. Ive tried a different shaft and have the same issue. This leads me to believe its an issue with the screw possibly? The shaft in question works fine on a different driver head so i know the adjustable tip is fine, and the other shaft i put in my M4 is having the same issue of the head slipping. Any ideas? I think it may be as simple as replacing the screw and washer in the driver head, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. Quote Link to comment
SmoothG
Watch a video on YouTube to make sure you are doing it correctly. It should not come loose. When tightening it there should be a loud audible click when it's locked. At first you may feel like you are doing it too tight but the torque wrench will give. xOldBenKenobiX and Nic 2 Quote Cobra SpeedZone 9* TourEdge EXS 18* TourEdge C721 22*H PXG 0211 DC 6-P + G Cleveland Zipcore Full Face 52/58* Wilson Staff Infinite Michigan Ave Taylormade Tour Response Link to comment

I am assuming you are using the torque wrench that came with the club (or equivalent) and are turning until you hear the click. If the above is true, try changing the screw and washer. xOldBenKenobiX and cnosil 2 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin 4 Link to comment

This is for the M3, but it should be the same process 1 hour ago, dlow206 said: I am assuming you are using the torque wrench that came with the club (or equivalent) and are turning until you hear the click. If the above is true, try changing the screw and washer. The proper tool and follow the manufacturer instructions, with the appropriate torque tool you cannot over tight it at all as the tool wont let you. For my previous TM and other brands, the tool would make that snap sound when it was properly tight Quote My Reviews: 2023 Official review - Rapsodo MLM2Pro! 2022 Official Review - Edel SMS Wedges 2021 Official Review - Tommy Armour Impact 3 Putter 2020 Official Member Review - BagBoy Chiller Cart Bag Cobra SpeedZone Xtreme - Unofficial Review by xOldBenKenobiX Honma TR21 4 Wood - Unofficial Review by xOldBenKenobiX Driver - Cobra SpeedZone Xtreme 10.5, UST helium 5 Wood - . Nic
Agree... loudly audible click just when you think it's too tight. Quote Link to comment

Make sure the tool are using has the proper torque, tighten until it clicks. If that doesn't fix the issue then try replacing the screw and washer. GolfSpy_APH
Although i don't believe this would be the issue but possible that if the issue is the head. Then it may be cross threaded and that's why it was so tight before. I've only seen this a handful of times, but could explain the issue to some extent. That would still be an issue with the screw though. There are no threads on the head itself. the screw goes through the head and into the shaft where the threads engage. Since the shaft works in his other club without issue, that would indicate that if any cross threading took place, it damaged the screw and not the adapter so that is at least one positive.
