logybear
Hey guys, was hoping someone could help me figure out what kind of putter it is I have. This flat stick used to be my grandfather’s that he had since I was a old enough to wiff drives. I inherited it from him when he passed away in 2016, and I want to look into restoring it because it is a sentimental piece for me. I did some looking online and the closest thing I can find to it is the Rawlings Tour Magic. The size of the head and face are identical as well as the sight line colours. Only difference is the bottom face doesn’t have anything engraved in it. My grandfather was a really big baseball fan and had an old set of Rawlings irons too, that’s what made me think that this is a Rawlings. if anyone maybe used to game something like this and offer some input that would be awesome! and yes before you ask, this putter is mid toe balanced…. aerospace_ray 1 Quote Driver: PING G410 max 5w: Cobra Speedzone 4H: Cobra Baffler 4i-PW: PING G410 50°: Cleveland RTX4 56°: Cleveland RTX588 60°: Cleveland RTX4 Putter: Kenny Giannini Legacy 4 Ball: Titleist Tour Speed

null
I got my grandfathers old putter when he passed and originally thought of restoring it. After some thought, I decided to not touch it and leave it the way he left it
ChuckZ
I am sure there were a lot of manufacturers that made that style of putter. Looked online and found TopFLite, McGregor, Spaulding, Wilson and Wilson Staff. Without any markings on it, very tough to identify. Could be clubhead someone made for your grandfather. Very difficult to say. Not as many brands back then as there are today. As far as the shaft and grip, the shaft is a basic True Temper steel and the grip is a “Scotte” with a not Scotty Cameron crown at the top. 70445 1 Quote Driver: PING G410 max 5w: Cobra Speedzone 4H: Cobra Baffler 4i-PW: PING G410 50°: Cleveland RTX4 56°: Cleveland RTX588 60°: Cleveland RTX4 Putter: Kenny Giannini Legacy 4 Ball: Titleist Tour Speed

Think it might be more trouble than it’s worth because as you can see there’s many of those. Definitely want a new shaft though. Dave Tutelman
As others have said, that design seems to have more than one manufacturer. I own a Wilson Black Jack putter with the same shape, probably the same insert, but different markings. A single sight line on the body, but not the three above the face. Brand and model ID on the sole. You can see what it looks like because there is currently one like it for sale on eBay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/133754903842?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=133754903842&targetid=1328894427317&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9003692&poi=&campaignid=11211718007&mkgroupid=122765038032&rlsatarget=pla-1328894427317&abcId=9300435&merchantid=6296724&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl_SHBhCQARIsAFIFRVXaSAaZ7lIDamkASaPEQqXf5FDyAD2tOhsJe55mBGeO4hIdphvwzqMaAuCFEALw_wcB

The only reason I think it’s the Rawlings is the sight line for the one I found was the exact same. looking at all the possible similarities I wouldn’t be surprised if brands just ordered these heads from a manufacturer and did their own little thing with them. Kind of cool to see in my opinion. I think you are correct in that it could be the Rawlings Tour Magic early ones. Brings back memories for me as I probably re-gripped many of those style putters for people way back. This style was very popular (if I remember correctly) in early 90's time. Several manufacturers had similar styles. Most based off the original Odyssey Dual Force Rossi II popularity. The putter you inherited has something like a balata type insert. The original Odyssey's had a cult following for many years based on that soft like feel. Nothing fancy about the shaft / grip -- all standard very common for those type putters back in the day.
