mrjc
I currently use a taylormade R15 with a shortened stiff shaft and I'm pretty good with it however it's seen better days. I have tried a taylormade M4 and couldn't get on with it at all. Does anyone have any advice on what driver would suit? Quote WITB... If you don't want to do a full fitting check out a big box store and ask to hit some of the various drivers. Lots of options out there and many will out perform the R15. It was s good driver, but the newer models are far more forgiving than the R15. cnosil, EMacK1961, Kenny B and 2 others 5 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! Echoing what Jamie said, go for a fitting, even if it is a demo day type fitting if you don't want to spend the money on one. It's hard to say what driver will perform best based on the previous club. There are so many good new drivers out from the past few releases, so if you don't want to go brand new you can find options. Checking a big box store with a used section is also a great way to go about it if you know what type of shaft/profile fits your swing well already. Cuzy51
You really need to go and hit them all get a fitting, you may be stuck on a particular brand when others may perform better for you tdroma98 1 Quote WITB Callaway Rouge ST Max D driver Titleist TSR2 fairway Titleist Tsi2 fairway Titleist TS2 Hybrid Titleist T300 irons Vokey Wedges SM8 Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 Titleist LinkMaster bag
Kenny B
R15 time to upgrade? Yes Any of the new clubs will be better; just have to find which one best suits your swing. Fitting is always going to be the best choice, but if it's not an option then just hitting a number of different drivers on a monitor will be very helpful in finding something that works better for you. tdroma98 1 Quote In my Big Max hybrid bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Launcher 5h D200 6i-GW CBX 54* & 58* Huntington Beach #10 Tour S
cnosil
Adding to what everyone else says about testing or fitting; make sure to compare against you driver since all launch monitors are a little different or may be setup differently. This will help ensure you are getting a valid comparison and can see if there are potential improvements. tdroma98 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
jcor14
I made a similar change and went from an R11 to the Stealth Plus. I am now on the Stealth 2 + and have gained yardage and narrowed my dispersion. I do have to caveat that it does take a while to get used to new clubs/specs etc. But the new technology makes these drivers really good and a lot of fun to use. Quote WITB - D: TM Stealth 2+. jbern
Basically, the R15 was a bomber when hit good, but the miss hits will perform better with any pretty much any new driver. Last year I went from the R15 to a PXG gen 4 and the R15 did go farther, but the forgiveness of the PXG was worth the upgrade. My perfect impact carry with the R15 was close to 280yds, but any miss hit with the R15 was off the planet and a major distance loss. So much distance loss that my avg driver carry distance was 253yds with the R15. The PXG carry is 270 - 255yds on all hits and my avg carry distance right now is 262 yds, which is 9 yards longer on average!! What’s your budget? It sounds like you may not be interested in something brand new? It’s hard to get fit for used clubs, but going to hit the new stuff should help you get a bit dialed in on what you want in a used club.
