Preeway
After looking at the results from my most recent outdoor putting test, I began to notice that my more common miss with the Bettinardi was to the right and the Odyssey was either dead on or slightly left. These were when putting a fairly straight putt with little to no break. I did a little digging to see whether toe hang would make a difference in putting tendencies. As I suspected, it does, but the manner in which it effects the putt is also very dependent on the person. In other words, get fitted to determine which putter will work best for you . I have used a blade putter all my life so I always suspected that is what was best for me. It was just comfortable. But this past summer a friend of mine made a comment about my stroke on a putt I missed to the right of the hole. I thought I just misread the break but he had asked if I meant to hit it to the right of where I had been originally aiming. I was puzzled because I didn't feel like I missed it right. After measuring the toe hang on each putter, the results I'm seeing are beginning to make a little more sense. The Odyssey is 22º as advertised and the Bettinardi is almost 45º which is what they claim it to be as well. The Scotty measured around 53º. The videos I've been watching on YT talk a lot about how toe hang can lead to either open or closed face at contact depending on how you swing. A little more attention in this area is going to be needed but it appears I have a swing path that work better with less toe hang. Back to work I go! fixyurdivot, cnosil, snoopy79 and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: Aerojet LS, Ventus Blue Shaft - 6S 4 Wood: Rogue ST Max 16.5, Tensei White Shaft - 7S Utility Iron: Fli Hi 3-iron, HAZARDOUS Smoke Black Shaft - S Irons: JPX 921 Tour 4-P, Project X Shafts - Stiff 125g Wedges: 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Ai-One 7 T CH, 34" Preferred Ball: Z-Star Diamond Pushcart: Nitron Rangefinder: Tour V5 Shift
Blaine Dye
Sorry everyone for the lack of Updating i was on Vacation And the whole time it was GO GO GO i did get to play a little and i knocked off one of my bucket list courses and to say i was not ready to play it but man it was beautiful ( Before you ask NO i did not land the green on 17 my ball decided he want to go hang in the water with the other balls) I shot a 98 though so no complaints not my best day but i had a blast! i also got to play some putt putt using my putter and through all of that i will say this putter is so reliable i feel like i was not always hitting the center but it never really effected me. Willie T
Jan 3 update - Got to play a sister course to my home course today. The greens here are 180* different from the flatter greens of the home course. How do the Ai One Milled 7 DB fare? Amazingly confident - even though the greens were quick and undulated. Can we say severe roll by (operator miscues)? I want to play the course again as it presented a strong challenge to pace control. Overall the Ai One’s milled face instilled confidence, and informed me of less than optimal strikes….time to analyze notes made today (lots of notes)…. fixyurdivot, Rob Person, TJ Hall and 2 others 5 Quote WITB? buckpillar
13 hours ago, fixyurdivot said: Don't know for sure but I suspect much less effort has gone into putter technology in past decades and only more recently become a focus for the various design teams. I mean putting is hugely important but from a magnitude perspective mishits on putters don't end up OB or in hazards. Players have LOADS more difficulty with drivers, woods, and irons, so it seems that's been the focus in recent decades. Now having finely honed forgiveness and distance in those arrows, OEM's are turing attention to putters. Is my thinking on this wonky? Thoughts?? Unless Callaway has captured some IP (patents), it would not surprise me in the least to see more AI design theme putters, from other OEM's, hit the market. fixurdivot, I think that there will be copy cats to the AI putter from other manufacturers coming sooner then we think, will they have as much success achieving the standards set by Callaway's Odyssey AI? I don't think so, I think they will try to create an insert where they may use different material for the heel and toe to produce the same distance as center strikes, using the same thickness across the face of the insert. Your thoughts are definitely driving down the right fairway. Rob Person and fixyurdivot 2 Quote Jeff "PUTSO" Pillar [email protected]

ZoonORama
I completed a series of tests with the AI-ONE 6 putter and I wanted to share the results, which were very interesting to me. First, the methodology I was using. 7’ - 100 putts, 5’ - 100 putts, 3’ - 50 putts, 1’ - 25 putts. (5 balls at a time to allow walking back and forth and reset) The two putters being used for this are the AI-ONE Milled 6 and White Hot XG #8 blade style. I have always liked blade styles better and really, haven’t even wanted to try a mallet until recently. So, this was a departure from my normal tendencies. Each of these has a unique aiming style. I have found the AI-ONE to be VERY easy to set the alignment. And one thing to mention here is that the toe hang is exactly the same between these two putters. The performance between these two is no contest. I had originally thought how this might play on the course, which would only really give me about 36+ putts unless I took a little extra time on each green. While I am itching to see how this really performs out there on grass, this test was solid in that I had many mis-hit and off center strikes. The 1’ mark was a wash. 100% for both however I did notice some substantial differences that I want to share: 1. Alignment - alignment was so much easier with the AI-ONE 2. Consistency - great distance on off center strikes 3. Feel - AI-ONE - more launch / smooth - little noticeable feel difference for off center strikes. XG #8 - less launch unless perfect strike - really feel off center hits - less distance Even though I don’t think this style of putter is my preference, I cannot argue with the results I am seeing. What’s Next? More putting of course. I will be taking this to another indoor facility for more testing and hopefully, some first impressions by random people. A “Man on the Street” kind of feedback. oly16
I went through a tour van putter fitting about 2 weeks ago and was fit into the Ai-One Milled Six T (coming from a Phantom X 12). Totally not the style/putter I was anticipating fitting into. I know it is the milled version, but in the past I never loved the Whitehot insert. So, the Ai's were not even on my radar. But I loved the delivery and the feel and the numbers showed it. After testing several options it was a clear winner. The putter arrived 2-3 days ago and the more I eye it over and putt with it, I love it more. Totally would recommend giving the Ai-One Milled line a roll. More it is….the sister course with its much different greens forced me to look at reading the breaks. Once I got a feel for pace, Millie delivered nicely on distance. Misses were rarely more than 2’ past. Talk about inspiring confidence in terms of speed off the face, I just was not spot on in terms of reading the greens. Fast forward to yesterday- played an afternoon nine with a good friend. We were back at my regular course, so I’m thinking it should be an easy day of putting - not. Temps are in the 40’s, winds are NNW at 10 gusting to 20+, rain overnight and the greens are receptive but like glass in terms of speed. It was a challenge to figure trailing-crossing-head winds into the equation. Still Millie hung in and helped me stay confident as I am really honing in on the ball off a milled face versus an insert like the white hot.
