DRLEONARD58
I love the testing and the subsequent buyer's guides -- it was what first drew me to MGS! A couple of things were really surprising to me when reading the test results: 1. The winner from 2023 (Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1) was pretty middle of the road in the 2024 testing. 2. As a confirmed LAB Rat, I was surprised to not see the LAB Link.1 in the testing field, especially given the year they have been having. 3. Interesting to see almost complete turn over in top performers from 2023 to 2024! Keep up the great work MGS! That is the worst part of MW testing (putters especially) is that it seems a large percentage of top performers aren't available on both sides of the ball. Interesting to see almost complete turn over in top performers from 2023 to 2024! Keep up the great work MGS! Regarding #1 and #3 - It caught my eye too. I posted a comment related to this under the article. It looks like the Cleveland HB Soft 2 #1 was first in the 20ft stats, and also won best value. But it's further down in overall ranking, and didn't show up in the top 5 for 10ft and 5ft. Oh actually it's 6th overall in total score, still damn good. I can't view the 2023 article now - it redirects to the 2024 article (link). But I also think the Wilson Staff Model BL 22 got bumped down quite a bit. I think the Wilson won the 10ft distance last time. This time the only place it shows up is in 5th spot for the 20ft distance. And it looks like it's 15th out of 39. It makes me wonder if this kind of test could be highly variable. It really might depend on how people are putting that day. But also, everyone is trying putters they are not familiar with. I know if I picked up a new putter and hit it, it would take some time to get the distance figured out. It takes some hits to get accustomed to something new. And they are doing it for 39 putters! Some have inserts and some do not, different necks, etc. So I have a question for the MyGolfSpy ppl - Since I can't see the 2023 article now, are the putter guides going to be more "evergreen" articles compared to like the most wanted drivers? The most wanted drivers (mostly) only considers clubs released in the current year. If the putter guides won't work that way... I like that a lot , though it still makes me curious to compare the previous results. It would be great to have a few notes in the article about the 2023 or other past results, possibly mention the winner of the different categories from last time. Here is the 23 article: https://mygolfspy.com/buyers-guides/blade-putters/blade-putters-2023-test-and-review/ I found it by scrolling down the buyers guides for putters. As for the testing, from my discussions, they will only be testing new models with limited exceptions I’ve provided a critique of the putting process in the past but while there may be some variability, I think the test gives a solid view on how the putters will perform. There is a wide range of player abilities that do this test and I would say there probably isn’t a large variance in make rates on a day to day basis. What I believe is missing is the dispersion circles for missed putts. Hopefully this will be added along with other measurements when they get the Puttview system operational. As for the familiarity with the putters, it isn’t an issue for me. But it could be for some testers especially if they are prone to compensating when they miss. During testing i can see patterns for the various putters, but I probably don’t miss any putt by anymore than a couple of feet with any of them. The biggest issue is length and lie angle but we are simulating the buy off the rack mentality HikingMike, StrokerAce and Rob Person 1 2 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

The biggest issue is length and lie angle but we are simulating the buy off the rack mentality Awesome, thank you for the link and thanks for that info about the testing process. Did they count putts from a particular distance rather than only counting make vs. miss? If so, that would sort of include something similar to the dispersion circles, though dispersion data would be really nice. Good point about the length, lie, and buy off the rack idea. I figured they were not fitted in any way since that would require more equipment. So I hope you guys are midrange in height at least Alright, it will be mostly only new current-year models, similar to the other tests. In that case, I think they should include the year in the URL then, and not do redirects from the previous year to the new article. Note for the editors So it looks like the Cleveland is "Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1" in the 2023 test rather than "Cleveland HB Soft 2 #1". It's a different model. In the photos, I can see they have different text on the bottom of the club too. Oh wait... the "Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1" is also in the 2024 test. I just saw it now. That's great. Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1 in 2023: #1 overall (out of 27) #4 from 5ft #3 from 10ft #1 from 20ft (by a mile) Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1 in 2024: #21 overall (out of 39) #31 from 5ft #28 from 10ft #24 from 20ft Wow that's a pretty drastic change for all rankings for the Cleveland HB Soft Milled 1. It went from great in everything, to bottom half or bottom of the pack in everything. Of course the group of putters tested is very different. The Wilson Staff Model BL22 looks like the same model also. Wilson Staff Model BL22 in 2023: #2 overall (out of 27) #9 from 5ft #1 from 10ft #2 from 20ft Wilson Staff Model BL22 in 2024: #15 overall (out of 39) #38 from 5ft #7 from 10ft #5 from 20ft Ok, the 10ft and 20ft scores seem relatively consistent, both relatively high ranking. The 5ft rank is a huge change. The overall rank drop is different, but not crazy. The Wilson Staff Model BL22, excepting the 5ft category, did not fare nearly as badly going from 2023 to 2024 as the Cleveland did. This tells us *something*, but this is just comparing relative numbers of a different group of putters. The absolute numbers would be more useful for a comparison like this, or for trying to judge putters from multiple years.
