rkj427
@StrokerAce I agree 100% with your thoughts and assessment of Padraig. Great role model for those on the other side of 40+ years of age. Although he is much younger than I am at this time, I am in fairly good physical condition, especially for my age, and his quest to keep or increase his speed and stamina have led me to also incorporate and utilize some training aides in a similar fashion. Getting older doesn't mean you quit trying to keep in shape or give up something you truly enjoy doing such as golf. ShimmyCocoBop
Several times, I have read about Paddy's early days in golf and learned that he was motivated by poor play and lack of respect. Growing up in the era he did, there were lots of other big European names that were doing well and becoming famous. He discovered that he had to really grind and improve to beat them, which he did many times in his career. Yes, we don't talk enough about his work ethic and wonderful success. Back in 2008, he closed the season by winning the last two majors, The Open and The PGA Championship, giving him three majors in his career. I'll never forget the look on Sergio Garcia's face on #16 at Firestone CC when he realized that Harrington was going to win the PGA and not him. In 2009, after having won 3 of the last 6 majors, Harrington decided to revamp his swing. Whaat? We have seen him continue to revamp his swing over the next 15 years to stay relevant and competitive. Somewhat like Tiger Woods, he has the mental toughness to go along with his swing changes that allows him to come through the process a better player. Quote After retiring from the PGA of America, I did some demo days and club fitting for TaylorMade, Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Cobra, Srixon and Mizuno. russtopherb
Love the fact that while he's learning new things about his swing and how to maintain/increase speed, he's sharing that on YouTube and social media with us regular joes.
