AI Smoke/AI Smoke HL

AI Smoke Or Smoke HL

So I went to a course near me that does Callaway fittings. I got fitted for AI Smokes with a regular flex shaft. I wanted to try other brands so when I got fitted at a PGA store I ended up with the AI smoke HL with a stiff shaft. (I swing a 7i about 80-85mph)

Now I can’t decide what’s right. I’m definitely overthinking. I’m a high handicapper who just started to break 100 this year after years of never being able to. Fitter at PGA store was focused on launch angles and spin. Callaway guy not so much. Said I have enough spin for good stopping power and while rhe HL heads may give me better results faster, I overall may like the regular smokes as I get better.

I hit the regular smokes about 8 yards farther but the launch and descent angles were better on the HL. I’ve always struggled with thin shots so I LIKE to see high shots even if they miss. I need yalls opinions. I’m leaning toward the HL but now I’m way too much in my head about it. Here are some numbers from trying them out.

I’d probably go regular smoke.

Why is that?

Based on the limited data you have faster ball speed, a little more spin, basically same descent angle, more carry distance, and the numbers seemed a bit more consistent.      The unknowns are things like peak height and dispersion.

I would like to see them with the same shaft to make it apples to apples. Based on what is presented, I would also go with the standard iron.

Just because of ball speed? I’ve been leaning to HL because I need all the forgiveness I can get.

No. Based on the data provided like @cnosil stated, consistency seems to be a bit better. There are many other parameters that would help - apex and side spin for sure as dispersion is most important. You can hit a ball a mile, but if you don't know where its going, the distance is worthless (IMO).
