Ummm...in this fantasy i just won close to $2B.  Do you think there will be other members at my golf course????  There will be me and whoever i invite and thats it.
And there will be a staff that will have to deal with the normal headaches of maintaining a course so i wont have to.
My first hire will be golfspy_cg2 so i can try out all the clubs he orders with his fully funded equipment budget!!

My long term power ball dream was to purchase a golf course and a Mc Donald's.  McDonald's will always generate money to help when golf is slow.
Foz, stop your crying I have no idea what mine is going to! We are moving and my wife was the accounting person at my course. When you are used to free for 16 years this move will hurt. How can I calculate the percentage increase from zero to who knows? But my calculations show I saved over $61,000. Got to find my wife a job at another course.
But $110/ month increase is robbery. I would be shopping too!

I re-upped our membership for next year at the muni we play.  I was pleasantly surprised that it was about what we paid the last two years.
With what the pro and the super has to put up with to maintain the course and all the bitching people do (guilty!), I would not want the headache.  Maybe I'd buy a membership in Troon or TPC and travel to play whichever course I want.

Lying in bed and thinking about what could be.  What if you won the Powerball jackpot?  Golf or otherwise, what would you do?
I'd like to think I would be smart about it, but I already make bad decisions when buying road trip snacks.  So I'd likely get the annuity if only to protect me from myself a bit.
Then I'd think about getting lessons like everyone tells me to do. 😁

I finally got a chance to get out today. It's been a couple of weeks due to a bunch of stuff going on. Getting ready for a move in a couple of weeks, and my work schedule just moved to mandatory 10 hr Saturdays 🤦🏼‍♂️. So my regular Saturday rounds are toast.
So I'd been very much looking forward to getting out today. Well, I'll throw out a cautionary bit of advice.. don't watch YouTube golf instructional videos late at night.. because in the event that you come across a video that entices you to go get your driver and start swinging in your living room at 11:30 at night, you could very easily forget to put it back in your bag, get to the course the next day, and realize you're playing your round sans driver. (Insert homer Simpson gif.. "doh".
Well luckily my trusty OttoPhlex 3 wood was in the bag. I finally thought to get some yardage on the last hole but was definitely not missing much in order to get home. Was hitting some really nice mid-launching tight draws. This one actually just crossed over into the rough when it landed so I'm certain that there was an extra 5-10 yds left to be had if it had hit the fairway

Played a quick 7 holes on a rainy evening- very soft. I was able measure 5 drives and I averaged 258. I was putting it places that I do on good days when it’s dry and hot. In the cooler weather my irons were 10 yards shorter today for an additional reference. I really need to get on my friend’s Trackman so I can compare my Grafalloy Otto Flex to my Ventus. Oh, and I was 5/5 in fairways- even hit some extra drives - they all hit the fairway.
I’ll get on the Trackman after I get the Low Spin head I ordered and really do some comparisons.
I did hit one bomb that was hill assisted- it cancelled out the one I hit 228 uphill.
    😜

I've applied the concept of the Otto Phlex to the irons.
    Methodology was simple:
I'm playing a set of Mavrik Max irons.  Found a new 7 iron head touted for women, they call it a "lite" head.  Snagged one figuring I could do a direct Mavrik Max/Mavrik Max comparison if I built it right.  Grabbed three Grafalloy ProLite L flex iron shafts off ebay for the build.
Ended up with a 37.5 inch club to get the D0 swing weight compared to my 37 inch 7 iron.  Could not, for the life of me, find tipping instructions for the shaft so I just tipped it 1 inch figuring more flex was in keeping with the concept we're exploring.
The feel of the club was wonderful.  Higher flight and a bit more distance by a few yards during my testing.  Still not sold on the shaft, however, I think I can do better.  Soooo, found a set of six Aldila HM graphite iron shafts that were pulls from a ladies set of irons for a very, very moderate price and they're on the way.   Going to swap out the ProLite for one of the Aldila HM shafts.  Had those same shafts in some Cobra hybrids I played a few years ago and they're similar in many ways to the PLB.
My bottom line, and again it's just one opinion, is that "the jury is still out" on how this will play out in the irons.  Driver, fairway woods, and hybrids?  Yes, for me they all work with L flex; nice feel, higher ball flight and definitely more distance across the board.  Irons are "tbd".
Hoping the weather here in Wisconsin holds for a few more days so I can do real life testing.

Due to being curious and intrigued by the Otto Phlex thread, I have wound up with a back up driver, 3 wood, and lighter, more flexible shafts.
PXG Gen 5 0311XF 9 degree driver with 45" Fuji Air Speeder Blue 45 R
    PXG Gen 4 0341XF 3 wood with 43" Fuji Air Speeder Blue 45 A (tipped 1")
I also picked up a PXG 0211 7 wood that I installed a Project X Evenflow Riptide CB 40 senior flex trimmed to 42", which originally came with the driver.
My plans are to play my Ping driver and 3 wood with Ventus Velocore blue shafts on Saturday and change out to the PXG woods on Sunday.  I will then compare my scores, fairways hit, ball striking, and feel.  The experiment of dropping 2 flexes didn't work out for me with the driver so I am working on a gradual approach to lighter and more flexible shafts.

I'll say again that I believe, based on my experience (yeah, I know, a "one point curve"...) that the bend profile of the shaft is every bit as important as weight/flex in terms of outcome.  I've suggested to other posters in the thread that it might be useful to use the Maltby "playability profile" or whatever they call it, with the Pro Launch Blue as the template.

I'm with cnosil on found tees.  As a walker, I find a pocketful of tees every time I play.  I share these found tees with my friends and the high school golf team.

Weather here not too bad for the upcoming week. Unfortunately no fall colors like in New England. I miss the color but not the cold.

Walked River Heights today.  Didn't start out too hot.  Lost a few balls on the front nine on my way to a 52.
Then I hit the back nine and the wheels came off.  Parred 12 and 13 and suddenly I could barely make contact.  I even hit a tee shot off the hosel at one point.  Went +17 over the last five holes.  Seriously contemplated walking off several times on my way to a back nine 57.
    Shot 109 (+37).  Just a ghastly day.

I was able to get in 9 holes last night after work, and decided to carry my bag, and after 9 holes my body was giving me messages... I'm just trying to decide it it was saying "you need to do that more" or "never ever do that again" 🤣.  I had a couple of shots at the end of the round that were the results of a tired back, but I managed to escape without any damage (to the score, and to my self 🙂 )
It was a nice evening for the walk, and the weather was warm but not too bad, a bit gusty - and it seemed the breeze was in my face on every hole, even though I essentially walked in a circle around the course.
A few shots of note -
Par 3 - 160 into the wind, I hit a 6 iron hoping it would clear the front bunker... probably my best iron swing of the day, but pulled it left of the pin - I expected it to be on the left side of the green (blind to the tee box up hill with the bunker guarding it).  I found my ball about 20 yards over the green.  No ball mark on the green to be found... so I can only assume I flew the green.  I estimate it to be a 180 carry 6 iron (which for me is unheard of).  Put a decent chip on a sandwedge and sank a 20 footer down the hill for par.
Next hole - Par 5 - light breeze into my face TSR3 (re-weighted with the 8g slider giving me D-2 SW with PLB-L shaft), 281 yards center cut.  Hit a decent 3w that ballooned a little, but left me with about 70 yards in... pulled my wedge to the left fringe, and two putted for par.
Next hole - long dogleg left Par 4 - similar breeze in the face from the tee - 277 yards, center.  150 remaining and hit my approach a little toward the toe... ended up just short of the green and chipped to 2 inches for a kick in par.
Happy the way I closed out the 9 holes, a good up and down and two solid drives coming in.  Ended with an even par 36 (one bogey, one birdie).
I have tee times tomorrow and Sunday, and hope to get an additional nine in before the end of the weekend.. for 3 rounds to post in this week's Virtual Forum Tourney. 🙂

My favorite tees are plastic ones I got years ago from Monsta Golf, 3.25”. They were a DTC golf ball company that I tried on a whim.

... Something I never thought I would do, but I have switched to Martini tees after finding 5 of them on the course. My favorite tees, the 3 1/4" Evolution tees tend to break at the little spikes that hold the ball and sometimes it is hard to get the ball to sit on the tee. Impossible to see (without glasses) and I fumble around before realizing the spike is broken. Martini is the easiest to sit a ball on a tee compared to any I have played so I am using them for simple convenience. The fact that it lasts until you basically lose it is good for the environment because I hate plastic waste.
