  1. Have fun on the gold course? Did you hit the island green?
  2. I think Adam would agree; we are all part of the hitsquad. I am just the one on the forum that is involved with most wanted testing
  3. Off mats for testing; and I don;t think you are being difficult. Pretty difficult to do that testing outdoors and off real turf. Lots of approaches to practice and I think you need to mix things up as well as doing block practice. One of the things I would like to do with a launch monitor is use the mode that randomizes distances and then you have to hit that distance. Also saw a drill where you hit the ball past your intended distance, then short, and then hit your specific distance. Each has its own purpose in teaching.
  4. Here is Titleist's explanation: https://www.vokey.com/explained/wedge-grinds#
  5. Supposed to clear up. I am counting on it; I will be at Kiskiak tomorrow.
  6. Nope, not place with that much distance. I can do about 35 outdoors. When I am doing most wanted, I get some time on the GC Quad and practice hitting specific distances.
  7. Got a little indoor practice in with my new Bobby Grace 6330 putter. Wanted to see how well I could start the ball online so I rolled balls through a gate. As expected, my miss was occasionally right unlike my normal left miss. Attempted to speed up the rotation a bit so I pulled the sole weights which dropped headweight from 350 to about 324. Seemed to get the ball to start more online. Tried a single weight in toe and heel positions which move the ball a bit right again. Going to see if I can find a set of the light (6gr aluminum) weights. Could buy from grace but I want to see if I can find a used set instead of paying $55 for new ones. Going to be fun experimenting to see how weight changes impact my stroke.
  8. Having testing clubs pretty extensively I agree with you that Srixon makes great clubs. I am a huge fan of their irons which is why i have them in the bag. Their woods are competitive with every manufacturer. Cleveland has always made great wedges.
  9. Never had a hole in one but been close a few times. Closest was 2 inches that was witnessed by a former PGA pro that quoted a time when Hogan told him holes in one were just luck. I think luck will happen one day and I will get my hole in one; probably some skulled or fat shot that gets lucky. One of my golf goals for the last 5ish years has been to break 70. Have broken par for 18 half a dozen times with a low score of 70. The 60s scores are typically lost in the last few holes when the pressure builds. The 70 came when I was -5 with 2 holes remaining. Even though I have been struggling lately, I still think the goal is possible. Probably going to take a few off season lessons to work on improving my ball striking.
  10. Life is full of choices and we make those choices for a variety of reasons. Some if those reasons are selfish some are more generous. Based on your post you can’t do both because each require full commitment both financially and time wise. Being that you can’t find a way to do both you have to make a choice. Based on my reading your post it sounds like you want to do the martial arts route but don’t really want to give up golf. If you don’t switch you will probably question you decision. Give martial arts a go and see if you are getting what you hope to get out of it. If not you can always come back to golf; golf is a game for a lifetime.
  11. High total weight isn't always ideal. This has been the trend in the industry and as heads have gotten heavier people started counterbalancing to get back proper feel. The problem is that the higher weight will influence the stroke and potentially make it worse. Most people assume heavier leads to smoother which isn't always the cases. The idea behind stroke lab is to lighten total weight and use graphite to distribute weight to the head and grip to give that same feel.
  12. Been looking for a putter to do some experimenting with; I wanted something with adjustable weights so I could see how different weights impacted my stroke. Gone through a lot of putters in my golfing career, but never had an 8802 style putter. A while ago I saw Chisag's Bobby Grace putter and really liked the look. Found a used 6330 on eBay so I figured I would bid; ended up wining and the putter arrived today. Current headweight is 350gr so I am going to see if I can find some lighter and heavier weights to try and get the putter dialed in. Feels pretty head heavy so I may also try some counterbalancing. Looking forward to some winter fun.
  13. That would work. I would personally just use screws from the top and bottom. Don’t thing you would be putting enough stress on it to break and I would care if the screw heads were visible on top. Or you could do like the picture and use angle brackets and counter sink the heads like you suggested for the ones that come through the top.
  14. Gave one a try and it is not going to knock my current hybrids out of the bag. Excellent shape as pictures should show. Lists for $129; I'll ship CONUS for $old Project X 6.0 shaft, headcover, no tool, but works with pretty much any tool (I used my titleist and ping)
  15. Looks pretty straight forward. I'd say half to 3/4" plywood (probably don't need to add the grass surface) and half inch square rod screwed to the bottom.
  16. You have to break at some age and someone is going to complain it isn't fair. I would generally say that a 50 year old will hit it farther than a 70 year old. I know distance isn't everything but that is how people evaluate things. With honest handicap everything should even out; that is the purpose of using them.
  17. Toe shot, that is the place on the clubface that my golf ball loves to make contact. I feel like I could have a 10 inch long iron head and still hit the toe.
  18. Actually I think you can get lunch. Amazon owns Whole Foods.
  19. Intent of use is the biggest evaluation point. I am not looking for spin or launch type numbers. I want to practice 100 and in to dial in my swing. For this I need accurate numbers. If the LM says 70 then it better be 70 on the course not 60 or 85. I want this indoors so I can use my balls to get dialed in. I don’t have a range that will let me put out cones or go retrieve my personal balls. Reminds me of what I saw at the Local LPGA event this past year. Danielle Kang was going to work on distance wedges and her Caddie has laid out cones and shot distances to her bag to put them in the right spot. Danielle realized this and made him reshoot to where she was hitting from. Don’t want to practice to accurate distances not just something close.
  20. cnosil

    wedges

Don't understand. Even with graphite shafts, you can increase the weight and go heavier and stiffer in the wedges.
  21. Don't know what to tell you. Wasn't too happy with my year; just felt like I could play better than I have been. Who knows, trying too hard, over compensating, just a downward trend in the game, too much wrong practice, too little practice, too much instruction, too little instruction.....etc. Been getting frustrated over the last month or so since my iron play has been so poor. I think scaling back to a single instructor is probably a good idea. you may also be trying to force things and not letting your swing happen.
  22. Know my tendencies and dispersion with the club I am hitting Aim so a shot that goes toward the extremes of that dispersion won't end up in a bad location Generally desired location is middle of green to minimize 3 putt possibilities.
  23. Had a blast at the MGS tester party and ended up with this shirt. New Black Greg Norman shirt, Size XL, which is too big for me so I am doing a lucky size giveaway. Adam was very generous to us at the party so I figured I would pass this forward to someone who would wear it. If you wear XL and are interested in this shirt shoot me a message; I'll respond back and get your address.
  24. A great shaft for me. Have this shaft in my hybrids and was confirmed by a fitter it was a great shaft.
