  3. He lives about 10 minutes from me. I've met up with him a couple times to buy stuff and he gave a sweet deal paying cash and no shipping. He can get just about anything as well.
  4. I live on a course and most of the guys in my regular groups have their own carts. It's quite often we have 4 guys in 4 individual carts while playing. We can cruise, if nobody's ahead of us it's easy to play 18 in 2-ish hours. In general we are all pretty fast golfers though. The big problem is everybody else That seems to be the biggest theme in this thread though. We're never the problem, it's always everybody else. It's kind of a like a traffic jam on the highway. Somebody taps their brakes in heavy traffic and it ripples back and because a dead stop 2 miles behind them. All it takes is one slow group to slow down the entire course. Until everyone on the course can stop being an idiot we will all suffer the consequences of idiots on the course.

I'm not saying we won't see some sort of change or trend toward individual vehicles, but as I see the problem isn't the type of vehicle that's being used on golf courses, it's the type of person driving them on golf courses. (be warned this next part includes a lot of stereotypes) It's the pair of retired old guys who paid their money and will take as much damn time as they want on the course. It's the bachelor party guys who brought a keg and think a golf cart is a 4-wheeler, it's the group of 16 year olds that rented a cart for the first time and want to drive it EVERYWHERE, it's the 2 guys that decided golf might be fun and absolutely no idea what they are doing, it's the aspiring PGA pro who shoots 100 but takes 5 solid minutes deciding what club to hit and what shot to play before having to walk back to the cart and grab a different club. Basically it's a choice of educating golfers on proper driving etiquette (how to drop someone off, drive over to a different ball and hit, and then pick up the first person after they've hit) vs forcing them to behave properly by not giving them the option to ride together. I don't know what the correct answer is, but having a fleet of single rider carts is not the end all be all fix for pace of play issues.

  9. I should have just posted the Mon - Thurs span I've lived here long enough to realize when it get's to the difference between -10 and -25 the answer is just stay inside and have a drink.
  10. If you get a chance to stop by the EZGO booth can you ask if they have any plans to offer their lithium battery with a conversion kit to upgrade older carts to lithium? Specifically 2012 EZGO RXV
  11. I have 2 EZGO carts, both electric. A 2006 TXT and 2012 RXV. Since you have to be 5yrs old or newer I'd stick with the RXV. In our neighborhood community by far most have RXV, but the big three all make great carts (Yamaha, EZGO, Club Car). A couple reasons I choose the RXV, I wanted a 48 volt cart, most are now but my older TXT is only 36v. The EZGO has regenetarive breaking. When you let off the gas it starts slowly breaking automatically which gives a little bit of charge back to the batteries. I liked the layout of the dash and the biggest reason is the availability of parts and accessories. You can find pretty anything you want for it and it's readily available. I went electric over gas for both carts as well. I like the quiet ride of electric, and you don't have to worry about running out of gas. Yes you can still run out of battery, but generally you know how far or long you can go on a charge and as long as you always plug it in when you get home you shouldn't have to worry. One big negative is battery replacement. Expect to spend $800+ when you have to get a new set. I've been getting 3-5 years out of a set. You can also program the RXV to go faster via the onboard chip. With 14" rims I can hit 24-25mph with everything else stock. 2 last things for you. EZGO makes a new version of the RXV with Lithium batteries. They have 3 different models based on the expected range. I think it was 25, 35 & 45 but I could be wrong. That's how many miles you are supposed to be able to go on a charge. The lithium battery version is more expensive, but they guarantee the batteries for 5 years, there is zero maintenance (no cleaning terminals or filling battery cells with water) and they weigh about 300 lbs less than standard batteries. If I could go back and do it again I would seriously consider going this route. The biggest reason I didn't was cost. I was able to completely customize and accessorize my used cart for less than the cost of the stock lithium new. Last one is a different brand that you didn't list. They are new company so might be worth asking if this brand would be accepted or not. It's called Evolution carts and they come stock with a ton of features for less money than the big guys. I have 2 buddies that bought them last year and they have both been happy with them. The negative is since they aren't as big yet there isn't a ton of accessories for them and parts are harder to find. But bang for your buck they are a great value. That ended up much longer than I anticipated, but if you have any specific questions just let me know.

  14. Make it four I've never had lessons and played off the rack for a very long time. Maybe got down to an 8 or so that way. I've still never had lessons, but I have been fit several times. I do believe it's made a big difference. A bad swing is still going to be a bad result, but a good fitting can help you hit the ball well more often. So even though it's a drive, don't give up on it just yet! I will say the biggest thing that helped me go lower though was just playing more often. I used to play a handful of times a year, maybe once or twice a month when the weather was nice. Since we moved on to a course I get to play weekly and sometimes more. Just going out to play more has made by far the biggest difference in my scoring.

  18. Yeah, we have different definitions of "really cold" I always start with UA Coldgear base layer. For the outer layer by far the best I've found is Mizuno Windlite sweater. I think they still make them but it's called a different name now. Honestly though I'd look on ebay for one. They are amazingly warm, let you swing, and can be found pretty cheap.
  19. You're going to get out of it what you put in to it. Basically it is going to ask for some data on how you swing and you will input the answers. The better the answer you can provide the better the result is going to be for you. Handicap, swing speed, angle of attack, swing tempo, then it will give you an answer. There is also an Expert model where instead of a range of answers you will input more specific numbers. The catch here is that you will need to know what those numbers are for your swing. If you are just shooting in the dark on how fast you actually swing and what your AoA is you might as well stand in front of the used bin at your local golf store, close your eyes and pick one. In my opinion this will never replace an in person quality club fitting. But like jlukes said this isn't for the customer who already get's fit for their clubs. It's for the guy who walks in to a golf store, hits a couple drivers and walks out with whichever one struck their fancy that day. Invest a little time to get your numbers and this will be better than a shot in the dark. But if you are serious about golf I'm always going to recommend a session with a quality club fitter.
  20. Love this one Dave, now where's the section for prop bets or over/under and pick a date? I know you don't really have much of an "off season" but I find it's both helpful and hurtful for my club ho'ing tendencies. Once the season starts here and I finally get to play my bag doesn't usually change much at all. It's in the off season that I start lusting over shiny things and usually end up with a pile of stuff to try out once the courses open. Maybe it's that our season is so short that I don't have time to be experimenting with different things, but I've found playing regularly makes me not want as many shiny new things. Also for the first time I can remember I'm a month in to my winter blues and I don't have any equipment wants at the moment. That said there are a lot of shiny news things coming in the next 2 months that could change my mind. I've also got a stock pile of clubs to sell or trade in that could potentially replenish the golf equipment slush fund... aka PayPal. Here is my only advice/tweak I'd suggest and you kind of have it built in already. Commit to playing the same sticks, but break up the year into trimesters. Commit for the first trimester. Reassess, tweak if needed and recommit for the 2nd trimester. Rinse and repeat. Also when you evaluate the club try looking at it this way. Can you hit it well to the best of your personal ability 80% of the time? If the answer is no it probably doesn't deserve to be in the bag. Does the club save you strokes or cost you strokes overall? If it's overall costing you strokes then it gots to go. Can't wait to see how this plays out, I'll be following along!
  21. How often are you losing the adapter screws that this is an issue? I don't think I've ever lost one, or had one fall out. FWIW Taylormade is a metric M4 screw to match the thread. The harder part is finding the proper head on that type of screw to fit the torque wrench. If you just want to have a couple of extra's laying around you can find replacement screws pretty cheap on ebay.
