  1. I’ve always been partial to ping and Titleist: I don’t even bother with a tee on some boxes with my g410 LST. Tee just adds spin to the shot for me.
  2. I will not be using trackman again after this season: having already paid for a 6 month membership, I'm stuck for the winter, but I'll be looking for a studio with a GC quad next off season. Just too many odd shots where the ball data doesn't equal what I see on the screen, mostly with driver.
  3. the range is not golf, it is golf swing. the golf course is not golf swing, it is golf. There's no consequence to bad shots on the range, you just scrape another ball into position and swing away. If you're anything like me, you are probably too result oriented. Being process oriented will help quiet the mind, and allow your ingrained skills to take over. I think about my grip, the shot shape, my aim point, my wrist set, and finishing my turn while I'm thinking about my shot: once I step in, I don't allow myself to think of anything. Detaching myself from the result and focusing on my process has helped me accept my poor shots and recover with the next shot. After all, I'm not a swing robot.
  4. Woke up to 8 inches of snow in the valley: golf season has officially ending in SLC.
  5. I’m a chronic over-thinker in life: I try not to duplicate that on the golf course. Over time I’ve learned to turn off my brain before I step into a shot: I never thought about my form or footwork while throwing a football or shooting a free throw in a game, practice was where I thought about technique. I try to bring that idea to the course. Once I begin to take the club back I want to be an athlete, not a thinker.
  6. Other drivers are starting to catch my eye…. I’ve been faithful to my G410 LST for 2 years now.
  7. 18 at bonneville is a good hole: I played Sunday and got there just as the sun set: temp dropped 15 degrees instantly! The 2nd shot on this hole can be so tough depending on where your tee shot ends up: you could have a blind, ball below your feet, downhill lie for your 2nd…
  8. You can hit down on the ball with your driver and still be successful. There are ideal launch conditions for every combination of swing speed, AoA, and launch angle.
  9. Exactly! The u505 2 iron replaces my U510 3 iron, and it doesn’t sound like you’re driving a tent stake into a rock.
  10. Available for some lucky ball-striker is my gently used Titleist U-510 3 iron. Great club off the deck and off the tee. Asking $115 shipped anywhere In the lower 48.
  11. That was my exact setup while I was gaming my AP3’s. With the i59 PW being 46*, I really only need 3 more wedges, a 50* & 55* to go with my 60*. I find guys who hit their driver 285+ need more wedges to score with. My opinion is I’d much rather have a full swing than a partial. But with my new set, I’m going to have to learn some 1/2 & 3/4 shots with the 50 and 55.
  12. INTJ - its taken me a few years to control my self criticism on the golf course. One bad swing or a horrible break used to ruin the round. I’m always interested in the “why” of the golf swing and the data behind my rounds.
  13. Luckily she’s a unicorn: 6’1 and left handed! I laughed all the way to the register as her new driver (used TM M1) beat her old Kailea driver by a measly 35 yards. Most offline drive she had while hitting about 8 different drivers was 14 yards from center. I’d sell my soul for that kind of consistency. And she never practices: just strolls to the 1st tee and shoots sub 95 every time.
  14. Bought my wife a new driver for her birthday: she’s finally accepted that gaming “women’s” clubs are holding her back. And since we were already hitting clubs, I figured I’d address that gap between my 3 wood and 4 iron…
  15. I’ve been a 5 wedge guy for 2 years, next season I’m going down to 4. That has more to do with my new irons being weaker lofts than a change in my scoring philosophy. Based on your bag setup, I would: 1) drop the 5w and add a wedge 2) drop your 3w and 5w for a 4w as @puttnfoolsuggested
  16. Txg did a video on the rct ball where they ran the GC quad and the TM simultaneously. The units disagree when the swing speed gets up above 115 and the spin goes low, below 1500. The GC regards these as bombs that go 330, and the TM thinks the ball won’t stay in the air much past 290. And they occasionally produced different shapes. TM definitely does me wrong as a low launch, higher speed player: I get a lot of drives in the 112 mph range with smash factors above 1.42, that only fly 266. IRL, no reasonably straight drive of mine flies less than 280. On the other hand, last year when I was using a GC, it regularly had my drives carrying 310, which is equally inaccurate. To me, and I can’t remember what the txg boys final assumption was, but the TM gives you less distance, the GC gives you more.
  17. Swing everything you can and have them email you the data!
  18. I belong to an indoor golf club in SLC called golf 365. They use trackman, and I have purchased a box of Rct prov1x . The number that always seems off to me is spin axis. I hit hooks that I’ve never seen on the course. The face and path numbers don’t reflect the sharp hooks that I see on the trackman. Aside from my driver and 3 wood, I’m very happy with all the other data i see with my irons. The RCT ball makes the trackman as good as the GC hawk I was using last year, and I’m saving 45 minutes of drive time.

This is a dilemma every year; the prices in St George are getting ridiculous though! usually I can’t wait to go skiing, then around president’s day I start worrying about hurting myself and missing the golf season…
  20. @mikeanthony I’ve been seeing other wedges(besides my sm8’s) on the side this year: the TW 56 from Taylormade has actually kicked the 56* vokey out of the bag. But I’m not sure any wedge can replace my 60* k grind.
  21. Sure did: it only took 4 weeks and change from order to delivery.
  22. I’ve gone from a Titleist fanboy to team Ping in just under a year. First it was the G410 LST replacing my Titleist 918 3 wood, then the i59’s beat out the t-100 as replacements for my AP3. Did I mention that now my vokey wedges are not strong enough to match up with my i59’s? And now Ping has forged wedges you say? All that’s left is my u510 3 iron and my trusty Mizuno m craft putter…
  23. 2 over on breezy day in the valley: 4 birdies, 6 bogeys, on slightly below avg putting. 9/14 Fir’s 13/18 Gir’s 0/4 up & down with 33 putts. But what a day for a walk!
  24. If it’s inside 95 yards and normal conditions, I’m using my 60. I carry 5 wedges and have a few different bounces and grinds to keep my options open. My 60 is a K grind with 14 degrees of bounce. I find it just as easy to hit full shots with as any other wedge. Arccos says I’m more accurate with it than any other wedge: I’ve got total confidence in it. Would I play a flop of a tight lie with it? No, but I wouldn’t play a flop in 99% of situations.
  25. The weight change in the LST has been a game changer! I’ve switched to a 6 gram weight instead of the standard 16 gram, and have seen an exponential improvement! Best of all I’m having no trouble closing the face, and my dispersion has improved along with hitting my preferred shape more often. 16gram LST: 158 mph ball speed/ 106-109 mph club head speed 6 gram LST: 165 mph ball speed/ 110-114 mph club head speed
