I love being outdoors and playing a sport. I am too old to play the sports I did growing up, so golf allows me to be competitive, but also enjoy the outdoors.
I know I will never play professionally, so I never let a bad shot bother me, I always reality check and say I am just lucky to be out here having fun.

I find it to be a fun way to feed my competitive nature and as others have said, it's a sport you can play a lifetime. It's both therapeutic and maddening at the same time. It's also a great way to escape, if just for a while, the grind that is life.

It’s the game that feeds my competitive brain and can play anyone! It replaced a sport in baseball which I absolutely loved and I wish I started sooner!

Because it is the best game ever invented. It allows for so much creativity.  What other game do you get to adjust for wind, green speed, elevation.  During a good round, there is nothing that compares to seeing the ball do what you envisioned would happen.  For example, that huge drive, that flushed 3 iron, the pitch shot that stopped on a dime… the 45’ putt that fell…

Name a more rewarding, yet difficult game. Just talking about it makes me want to go play.  And I wish I could be a golfer for my full time job. Not on Tour, just play golf full time, 6 days a week, maybe 7. Dream job.

It's a game that you just can't master. Even if you play well you can always do better. It's a sport that you can play for a very long time and even though it can be frustrating at times it is so relaxing being out on the course first thing in the morning. Nature sounds are abundant, I can look back at my footsteps in the morning dew and see how well I played the hole. I always wonder what the group a half hour behind me thinks as they see my tracks meandering up the fairway. For me golf is a stress reliever from the daily grind.

Competition, against other golfers, and primarily against myself, and against the course I'm playing. This usually all takes place at the same time. This is a constant struggle every round and that is the ultimate trial.
Most days, i lose one or more of the competitions. Some days I win all of them and that brings joy. The loses provide opportunities for improvement and there is always the next round.
Some days you play golf and other days golf plays you.

It is my opinion that golf can easily become an obsession.  Sometimes, when I am having a particularly bad game, I wonder to myself "Why do I do this to myself".... Why do you golf?

Even though the pain is about the same sometimes, it beats sticking a pencil in my eye.

I love the challenge to get better and I can physically still play to a decent level where it is fun for me.

My AW is 49 and apart of my iron set (needed the extra forgiveness for the longer shots), so I added a 54 S grind for more of a straight back half and full swing shot, and a 58 K grind high bounce for bunkers and rough lies around the green. The 58 has been a life saver and minimized my duffs big time with that grind and bounce set up.

Personally play 48 degree PW, 52-56-60 wedges.  Hit most sand shots with 56.  Have gap now from 110 to 120 yards as 52 degree tops out and 3/4 PW is more yards.  Any suggestions appreciated.

These just arrived Wednesday and are ready for Saturday 18.  PXG 0211 3&4 hybrid both with Evenflow Riptide (non-CB) 80g 6.0s.  Fitting and order June 29th in time for the great deal.  Was planning on a 6/7 wood and 4 hybrid but the numbers were better, and I hit the 3 hybrid better, so that’s the order.  Replaced some old Cobra amp cell set hybrids

I put a SkyTrak in my media room with a 9'x13' impact screen/hitting bay.  Works great!  Use the The Golf Club 2019 for playing courses, tourney, etc. and the SkyTrak for range sessions and game improvement.  All in was like $7K.  If you want all the details let me know and I can list what and where I purchased online or you can hit me up via email.

    Hi There,

i have currently a question. I am looking for a hybrid/rescue filling a place between my wood and my irons.
My set so far looks like following:
    mizuno jpx 850 driver
cobra king speedzone fairwaywood - 5 wood
    cobra king speedzone irons 5-sw
    lob-wedge
    Putter
For that empty spot i am thinking about the radspeed hyb4
now the question. The fairwaywood #5 has a similar loft @20 degrees.

the radspeed hybrid 4 has also 21 degrees loft. But does it launch higher oder does it fill the spot?
mostly it should be able to help me out of semirough and places i cannot hit the wood nicely.

i am also a bloody beginner and working at my skills to get my first handicap. My ironing skills are not soo good yet, that‘s why i hope i can get some distance from that annoying semirough lies.
    hope for some experienced advice.

You cannot just look at a clubs loft and determine if it will fill the gap; you have to know the distance and hit the club to determine what club fills that spot. As you switch clubs it could be a club with more, less, or the same loft as the club above it or below it in the bag.   With a hybrid you generally have setting you can change to alter loft to help dial in distance.

Framed another way, which iron dominates among players who are not under contract...
You'd likely see a lot of the JPX Mizuno line as well as the newer Srixon ZX-7 line.
When Nike went out of business, several of their players went agnostic and played the ridiculously good JPX 900's.

Use this video for how to grip and look at the 9:50 mark where they talk about how tight it should be.

Interesting responses. I also have an issue of gripping too hard, it does seem weird to swing something so fast and not grip it to death. I usually pull the shots to the left when I do. I have looked at some YouTube videos that offer some tips, hold the club in the air in front of you, and make sure the club moves easily and not restricted, or they say 6/10 pressure. I have to constantly remind myself on the course and when practicing to stop gripping it hard.
The idea of changing the thickness of the grip never crossed my mind. I might have a play around with that to see if that helps me too. Thanks everyone.

I also agree with larger grip suggestion.
My brother in law recently taught me how to re-grip my clubs at home and I switched grip size from standard to standard +3 wraps of tape, which has my grips in between standard and mid and they feel real nice. This really helped me to figure out the grip size that felt best for me with out having to pick a general size at the golf shop.
This article also helped me when I was picking new grips:

I have that issue and as noted above moved to a mid-size grip.  Really made a difference for me.  Try it on a couple clubs and see if it works.
