fozcycle
I was pretty lucky, I only paid $143 for 8 brand new shafts P X 5.0. Gave them to my Pro to be reshafted ($15/club) and when I got them back, He said it was complimentary as I do so much running the Saturday Game. My lucky day. jkittlesen
I tested the 4.5 and 5.5, the 4.5 was the one for me. The guy at Golfsmith was of little help on pricing. So the PX shafts I want are hard to get here so I better try some more senior flex shafts of different brands if I can find them. RookieBlue7
Tip size is dependent on the club's hosel size. Irons are .355 and .370, dependent upon the manufacturer and model. There's very slight variation, as only the last 1/4" is actually .355 and they go to .370 from there up. They're referred to as parallel and taper tipped, .370 being parallel and .355 being taper tip (that last 1/4"). The difference is .355 are manufactured in nominal length where each iron takes a different shaft and they're made to play true to flex for that head. Parallel tips, it's one identical shaft across the set you tip trim (cut part of the tip off) to get to play to flex. They're called parallel because the last 4 inches are a consistent .370 diameter (it's parallel from the tip up 4 inches). This is to ensure that when tipping to flex, the tip is still .370 and will still fit inside the hosel. You're wanting PX 4.5 flex if I'm reading your OP correctly. Now, what head are you putting the shafts in? Then I can tell you which too size you'd need. (If it's .355 you'll buy .355. If it's .370 you can buy either .355 shafts or .370, you'd just have to shim the .355 shafts so the OD is correct. But using the .355 shaft even in .370 hosels eliminates the need to have to tip trim to flex, this eliminating a variable that could be messed up). revkev
From experience these shafts run stiffer tha advertised. 4.5 is about an R and 5.0 a tweener. RookieBlue7
Another good option if you can't find these would be Aldila RIP Tour 90 in an R flex softstepped once (you might even try them straight in, they play about 1/3 flex stiffer than the PX 4.5's). They'll run you around $280 for 4-pw The Matrix Program F15 P95 TT is also a comparable shaft but you're not going to save any cash really. Last option I have are Recoil 680's in F3 flex. They'll run about $35-40 each. Great shafts though. One thing I will advise however is they're a little different at impact as the recoil technology gives them an almost bullwhip feel In The BagDriver: TaylorMade M2 (2017) w/ Project X T1100 HZRDUS Handcrafted 65x Strong 3 wood: Taylormade M1 15* w/ ProjectX T1100 HZRDUS handcrafted 75x3 Hybrid: Adams PRO 18* w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4 Hybrid: Adams PRO 20* (bent to 21*) w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4-AW: TaylorMade P770 w/ Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Black Onyx S400 SW: 56* Scratch Tour Dept(CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerLW: 60* Scratch Tour Department (CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerXW: 64* Cally XForged Vintage w/ DG X100 8 iron tiger steppedPutter: Nike Method Prototype 006 at 34"Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. fozcycle
You asked about the difference between the 4.5 and 5.0's....Well, I have gamed the PX 4.5's in MP53's....(should have never gotten rid of them). Then I had the PX 5.5's in the Nike VR Pro CB's....There was a big difference between the 4.5 and 5.5, but now I have the 5.0's in both Mizuno JPX800 Pro's and Cobra Bio Cells, I can honestly say that you will like the 5.0 just as much as the 4.5's.....and I have played the 4.5 & 5.5 for a season each. now with the 5.0's I feel I have the right shaft.
