Bogey in The Woods
So I am not going to sit here and rehash all that has been pointed out with Fox coverage of this. Instead, Other than Greg Norman, I am not very pleased with the choice of commentators. Think of any sports coverage where you have a panel. Fox coverage of NFL, CBS football coverage, etc... On all of those shows, you have a facilitator that helps direct the discussion and keep the panel on track. You have guys like James Brown, and Menefee. Guys who can carry a show. Now for the Open, we have Joe Buck. A man whose on air personality is as charismatic as Sean Penn with paparazzi after a heavy night of drinking. I think this is a horrid choice for Fox if they are really serious about becoming a golf coverage contender. I have actually started watching with the TV on mute. As a Cubs fan I abhor Joe Buck and his always homer attitude for the St. Louis Cardinals. Yeah i thought I saw him yesterday too. I am fine with him, even though he wouldnt be my first choice to run the set for the Open. Then again, I dont know who Fox has that I WOULD choose to run the desk for them. GilB
I'm interested in seeing how the second wave will do this morning after they've had a chance to sleep on it and ponder the conditions of the greens.
IronHorse
I like that Greg Norman just now defending the course and the USGA over the "criticism" aka whining from some of the players. Like the fact that he said we as players get spoiled and want perfect conditions all the time but everyone is playing the same course. Of course right after that segment they show Ryan Palmer and comment he is one of payers who criticized course and then he chips it in after using one of the slopes unique to this course
griecot313
I am a little late jumping in but I have Jordan Speith winning at -6 by 5 shots in my pools over Mickelson at -1, Rose at even (we pick 3) . Jordan's caddie knows where to hit it and the breaks on the greens. Jordan has the ability and guts to execute. Rory's arrogance and lack of homework will have him lingering around the cut line. I was dead wrong about Tiger, I had him in the top 10 in another pool. Very sad to watch, I hope this is not the end of an era.
