Golf Ball Numbers

I know I have seen a thread around here about those, but extensive searches yielded 0 results.

 

My question:

 

Why are the numbers on a golf ball limited to 2 numbers?

 

I mean we have carbon fiber drivers, why can't I have a golf ball with 007 on it?

 

Someone please fill me in.

I think you meant 2 digits. However... one digit either 1,2,3,4 works fine for me.

Can't even get 07, it's just 7, or 0.

 

Why can't they do three numbers? 000, 111, 222, 333, 007?
