I played 2 rounds this week. 1st round was 18 holes at South Shore Country Club - around 6700 yards or so. 2nd round was 9 holes at Newton Commonwealth; this is a best-ball round and there was really only 1 hole I used driver on (#18) so that's why the stats are skewed a bit. This was the last week of the best ball league so all of my shots from here on out will be more normal. I've got some work to do but I think I've got a couple things figured out. I do like that I'm getting in the fairway more. 8/13 this week and I wasn't too far off with a couple of them - right in the first cut. The app on Android won't let you filter for a single week so I had to kind of cut and paste screenshots... Be sure to check out my social media too! and give me a like/favorite! oh yeah... In all honestly, if I can get my fairways to hit 65%-70%, that will be huge for me. Like I've said before, fairways aren't a premium at my course with trouble on the left on every hole. This challenge, and really Arccos/Cobra CONNECT is pushing me to be better and pick different lines. It's funny how the app makes you focus more on your shot. That should be a selling point, honestly. Every. Shot. Matters. If you don't focus on what you're trying to do, your stats will show it and probably reflect on your score! Below are my stats, along with my two biggest bombs. I'll say it again, those of you in the Midwest (can't speak for any other areas) have an advantage with those summer playing conditions! Heavy air down here in Florida costs an easy 10-20 yards off the tee plus the soft conditions. Then again, I'll take golf 365 days out of the year over Midwest winters! I don't miss that at all! TBT Posted August 24, 2017 Share Posted August 24, 2017 Here is my official first week stats and report for The Cobra Connect Challenge Take Note of that Accurracy!!! 82.1%.... yep 82.1% fairways hit! To put that in perspective, the current leader on the PGA tour is averaging 72.73% ......now I realize that they've hit hundreds of drives compared to the small sampling that I have hit with the F7+, but it's still impressive nonetheless. In comparison according to Golfshot+ my last 20 rounds with my now former gamer, a Callaway XR 16, I averaged just 54% fairways hit. That's a 28.1% increase in accuracy by putting the Cobra F7+ Driver in my bag! Here is my Driver Handicap My Thoughts: The Cobra F7+ has inspired confidence on the tee box since the very first swing that split the middle of the fairway and resulted in my claiming the title of "King of the Hole" with my first shot! Swing after swing my confidence continues to build with this driver. This allows me to make a nice full swing without fear of where the ball is going to end up. When I step on the tee I am looking at where I want to hit the ball, not where I DONT want to hit it and that's HUGE for me!! There are 2 very difficult driving holes on my home course, both have very small targets with trouble on both sides...one requires a high draw and the other either a fade or a straight ball. I have yet to miss either fairway since putting the F7 in my bag! Distance wise I am averaging 10-15 yards longer with the F7+ than with my XR 16!! So I am hitting the ball 15 yards longer and hitting 28% more fairways!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but that's the kind of results that make me want to add the rest of the F7 line to my bag! But Right now I'm not as excited as I should be hitting a brand new club. Swing is a little off right now. The mis hits don't seem to be as forgiving as my '16 M1. I'm taking only the Cobra F7 driver with me to the Myrtle Beach World Amateur tomorrow for a week long tourney. I sure hope I can get the bugs worked out in time! Every Thursday you take screenshots of your results for the 5 categories from the Arccos app and post them in the Competition thread. Weekly prize winner announced on each Friday. If you miss posting your stuff, you miss out on that week and miss a week's work of input toward the Grand Prize!!! Friday Aug 18 --> Thursday Aug 24 Friday Aug 25 --> Thursday Aug 31 Friday Sep 01 --> Thursday Sep 07 Friday Sep 08 --> Thursday Sep 14 The competition will focus on 6 categories: Driving handicap breakdown Fairway accuracy Smart Distance – overall yardage percentage Longest Drive Overall number of drives detected Social interaction (#COBRACONNECTMGS – @cobragolf and @mygolfspy) The first five competition categories are stats that are tracked by the Cobra Connect app. We'll also be watching your social media stuff, which will go into the weekly score keeping.
