Not saying I’m not missing it but I can not see continue after the second nine, so to go back to pick up the missed holes.   I think it is complicated by multiple nines

It won't say continue, but rather a number of selections including ; end round, play back 9, etc. Upon selection play back 9 you should have the other 9's on the menu. As mentioned previously at our club we have 3 nines - and selecting the back 9 is one feature that has worked quite well.

I think the issue may be because he is doing a shotgun start, played part of one nine, then did what you are suggesting to play the other 9, but there isn't an option to get back to the first nine again.   

@did you see that?While not a great workaround,   you could always start another round and contact support for them to combine the rounds.

That's correct - they will do that and have in the past for me.

I actually had an issue with the X5 yesterday but I believe it was all me.

Twice I looked at my screen and it was on the watch face even though I didn't intentionally press any buttons. I think it was a bit too close to my wrist and was accidently pushing and holding the button when I swung. I moved the watch about 1" further up my wrist and didn't have any other problems.

Once they straighten out the firmware for the X5 - that would be my next recommendation, even I'll bet that the 9's shotgun issue applies to just a few of us here as most play on a traditional 18 hole course. On those, of course, you can just toggle back to the #1 hole.

Concur, once the major issues are worked out, the nice-to-have features can be addressed.

The ability to create your own watch shortcuts. I don’t use the move flag but would like to have a feature that I use regularly without going through the menu to find it.

+1 on the 'move flag', Our greens are so small that it's not a worthwhile feature + add fat fingers make it a bit un-useable. And as you mentioned a better feature might be the ability to create personal shortcuts.

On the X5 I'm not sure exactly what to suggest but the Unlock .. for me .. can be a bit hmmm not sensitive enough, maybe, and it seems to take me a few tries.... That's for both touchscreen and trying to rotate the bezel.

FYI more comfortable leaving the Lock set On during play (for now, at least, maybe that will change..?).

I have been having trouble with the X5.  First round was a mess but I chalked it up to not having read the user guide.  Yesterday, the watch froze on the pin collect screen of the first hole.  There was nothing I could do to record the pin.  And then when I exited out it sat on the first hole for the remainder of the round.  A reset during the round did not help.  Seemed to be on lock no matter what I did.

Anyone else experience this?

Yup - supposed to be another firmware update coming shortly. In the meantime I'd let support know.

i reached out out to SS over the weekend to see if they had any insight on my shotgun issue.  Did not get a reply.  I'm guessing they are swamped.

Yup - took a couple of extra days for them to get back to me on a recent request, Also, while I'm not positive - I believe their support is based in the UK. So you have the time change to deal with as well.

Well... while I am a fan of Shot Scope, I've found that they only respond when they think they have an answer. Course update?... the speed of light! Sync issues?...step by step remediation suggestions. I've had an issue since November of last year that I've (officially) complained about twice, and several more times here which no one wants to hear about again. But I've yet to hear anything from them. Someone on this forum (sorry, I can't remember for certain but probably tony@CIC) seems to have an inside track and said that they were aware of the situation and were working on it. But nothing but crickets from Shot Scope. I get it. It's tough to tell a customer that they don't understand the issue, that they don't think it's enough of an issue to commit resources to it, that they don't have time, etc, etc. But I am disappointed that I've never heard anything from them. Frankly, I simply don't use the app now other than to sync my last round and get course/firmware updates. 

Your shotgun round tracking issue seems like it could be pretty difficult to solve (other than manually by them as was suggested earlier) so I'll be very pleasantly surprised if you hear from them anytime soon.

I actually wondered about that myself.  Yeah I get it might be a tough or impossible fix, ok, I’m a big boy you can tell me.  I was going to resubmit but I’ll just use it for gps on fridays!

I've noticed that. I havent received any response on my frozen X5 inquiry on Monday.  That's too long for no contact at all (other than the auto-response).  At least they can say they are looking at it.  I'm tempted to issue a warranty replacement request.

No inside track here. Yes they should answer with some kind of a response - even if its a we're working on it but no eta. Just curious what your issue from November is?

Have you reinstalled the firmware? 

I'm taking the X5 out for the first time this Saturday after the new firmware install (been sidelined after eye surgery). I don't think all of the issues are resolved based on past communication but certainly hope the majority are.

I am always surprised when I read about how great ShotScopes customer service is.  This has not been my experience.  Above Migreb posted that a course update was done with the speed of light.  I put in a course update last year stating that back and front nine on a course I play regularly needed to be reversed.  They seemed to have difficulty with the concept.  Course has still not been updated.  I put in another request to reverse the front and back nine on the same course two weeks ago and have yet to read back from them.

I have a V3 that has unusual start-up screen that partially "whites out".  I requested a replacement and that any new V3 be inspected to make sure it did not have this issue prior to sending.  ShotScope assured me they would.  However, the replacement V3 has the same problem.  When I wrote back "that customer service assured me that any replacement would be inspected" this time I was told that it was impossible to inspect the V3 before replacement.

Now there are all of these issues with the X5.  Customer service?  Quality control?  Really.  No wonder why Mark Crossfield booted their rear ends to the curb.

I'm the one with the Samsung S22+ running Android 13, One UI 5.1 where the app doesn't render text correctly. I'm certain it's a Samsung thing, probably their One UI 5.1 (worked fine before 5.0) and it works just fine on other Android phones like the Pixel. My contention is that Samsung is the 2nd largest handset mfg in the world (so not some niche brand), and out of the hundreds of other apps on my phone, this is the only one that can't figure out how to make it work.

Whoa, I wasn't aware of that. I have to admit that I'm surprised at your experience. I really am sorry to hear that's happening.

I finally got the chance to play a full 18 yesterday and after my round, just a touch under 3 hours, the battery was at 67%.  Pretty happy with that.  

Otherwise, if I hadn't already passed the V3 on to a friend, I probably would have sent the X5 back.  No problems, necessarily, but no improvements worth the upgrade.

I think they tried to make it too complex by throwing a bunch of non value added options such as 'moving pin location' along with step count. This increased firmware programming difficulty and took time/effort from a robust firmware application. Advice to SS: scale back the options for now and make the firmware bulletproof.

Agreed.  I thought the step counter was neat but the number of steps is roughly the same whether I'm walking or riding, so... yeah.  

The option to keep score was a plus to me, but if it's not going by the the number of swings I take, what's the point?

I'd imagine that the number of swings might be quite challenging to program since golfers generally take a practice swing or two beforehand. I am actually ok with the scoring and always added/deleted for each hole. One thing that they said in the future would be dogleg distance - that's something that would be on the top of my list once the firmware is bulletproof.

I said it poorly but what I meant was, if it's already tracking my shots, why can't that be used when calculating my score?  It already knows I took three shots to reach the green on a par three, why default to GIR plus putts?

I think you brought this up in the other thread and I'm starting to come around on it:  This is geared towards lower handicappers and not someone like me.
