Plynch76
I live in a typical Florida community with zero lot lines, but I do have my own yard. As you might guess, my yard is quite small. I had a cheap hitting net but I could hardly ever get is setup because anchoring it required a lot of creative tricks until eventually it got too frustrating and I dumped it. Anyone have any good options for small spaces? Roughly 20 yards deep and 15 yards wide are the dimensions which means I'm really good at those short chips around the green Driver - TaylorMade Stealth+ 10.5 / Tour AD S Flex FW - TaylorMade Sim Titanium 15 / LinQ S Flex Hybrid - Titleist TSi 3 18 / Atmos HB 85 S Flex Irons - TaylorMade P790 4-AW / S Flex Wedges - Titleist Vokey SM8 / S Flex Putter - TaylorMade Spider Tour -- or -- Scotty Circa 62 Ball - ProV1 or TP5 or Maxfli Tour Quote -- PL Link to comment
Stuka44
Plynch 76: I have this for you. I tested a "Birdie Ball" putting green, but that's not the point. They also sent me things called "Birdie Balls", now they are not round and don't look like a golf ball AT ALL. But they actually work. They are about 1/2 the weight of an actual golf ball, so it actually feels like you are hitting something, UNLIKE foam or whiffle balls. Now when I hit mine with a 4 iron, I'm guessing they go about 30 yards??, but the design of these would not require much anchoring to arrest their velocity. I got a 10'x10'x10' replacement cage net and string it up between post/props to catch evetything. With a smaller, cheaper, impact net to protect the more expensive one. Quote Link to comment

I also have birdie balls and based on my experience, I don't think they work well for a back yard setup. First, they travel pretty far, a full swing with my SW will send one 25 yards pretty easily. Second, unless you have a hitting mat, you're going to tear up your yard in a hurry. It takes a long time for those divots to re-grow. I would check out the reviews of the spornia nets here. They tested the regular size last year and the new XL model is in progress now. Those have some weight to them so I don't think it would take much to get them anchored solidly in a yard of your size. Hello World
I would give the Spornia a try, it has held up well for me, however... I use it indoors. I think outdoors would work if it's not windy at all. I have a friend who put up a Spornia in his backyard and is now unusable. Their customer service is not that great either. Another thing that I would suggest is actually invest in a good net, like the Net Return, it's pricier but I've heard great things about it. Bossfan
I bought a pretty basic net from Dick’s. Their Maxfli brand. I use it with Almost Golfballs and this is my third year with it. It has held up well. I use it mostly indoors.
